I've got just a few. One of my cousins went to China to adopt about 16 years ago. They went to the orphanage to meet the baby, everything was fine. Happy, healthy baby. Next day they return to finish the last of the paperwork and pick up their new baby. They got there and it wasn't the same baby. This baby was severely underweight, wouldn't stop, in their words, "screaming in pain", and seemed to have some sort of muscular disorder. Shaking and screaming. Oh man, what a mess. They refused the baby on the grounds that it obviously wasn't the same one they'd been shown the day before. The Chinese administrators start screaming at them. Threats of arrest. Promises that they would never be allowed to adopt their baby. Personally I think they were trying to pass the new baby off so that they could sell the original baby on the black market and get rid of this disabled baby. My cousin and her husband were never quite sure if they were being pressured for a bribe. Anyway, once they threatened to get the embassy involved they were told to come back the next day. Lo and behold, day three they were presented with the original baby (they think) and everything went off without a hitch. It was surreal, like the whole thing the day before had never happened. They kept their mouths shut, took the baby, and came home.
That's the worst story I have. Impress me with tales of the inhumanity of the perfidious Celestials!
