What We Do in the Shadows - American tv series inspired by Kiwi* movie

If only. He turns his wife into an exact replica of Guillermo's boyfriend so the he can fuck him.

So Guillermo's boyfriend, Fred, comes to visit from England. He's a twinky, cringy nerd, but Guillermo adores him and is excited to see him. Nandor meets him and falls for his autistic level of conversation and asks the Genie (I thought he was out of wishes?) to turn Marwa into an exact copy of Fred. Nandoe & Fred2 copy all the stuff Guillermo & Fred1 do out on the town. While Nandor and his Fred (Fred2) are having sex, Guillermo and Fred 1 walk in and freak out. Nanador makes the Freds cool with each other. Then Fred 1 leaves to go back to England. Nandor then puts his Fred2 on a train to be "free to see the world" in a brief moment of guilt. Guillermo goes to England to visit Fred1 only to see him in love with Fred2. Side plots are Baby Colin becomes a teenager and Nadja's club can't survive without him. Jokes are as lame and predictable as possible

I am too autistic to leave a season unfinished, but this is fucking torture.
Tbh that plot is an improvement over what we've been getting the whole season because it returns to the core premise of "The vampires screw over guillermo/fuck some normie's life up by being too ignorant/egotistical."

Scrambling their neighbor's brain, making jeff crazy, baron killing a bunch of normies for fun, nanjda decapitating the boxer by accident and literally everyone around guillermo becoming a vampire except for him etc. The constant shock at the vampire's ignorant cruelty was part of the cynical joke which was the main premise.

Part of the reason why I hated the guierllmo family/coming out episode (appart from the obvious) is because its writen like a fucking self insert wish fulfilment fanfic. He comes out everyone hugs him and loves him, nobody gets hurt and nandja erases all the bad memories while leaving the fact that he's gay in.

The writers literally didn't care about making the episode funny or making guillermo suffer for whatever unknown reason when guillermo suffering has been a punchline since day one.

If nanja was forced to kill his entire family due to their vanhelsing blood making them resistant to brainwash or something or if it absolute bare minimum she also erased the fact that he's gay and made them insane, I'd be more lenient toward it because it would be in keeping with the running joke of "Guillermo never gets what he wants."

Yes, they thought all his 3 wishes were gone. Your comment doesn't answer anything.
He had the 50 wishes from the genie, then when that was used up the genie gave him a new lamp that only has 3 wishes as wedding present. That's what he used. The genie has not been back since the wedding and none of those new wishes had been used before this most recent episode.

The season 5 premiere is surprisingly good. Nandor's writing is much improved, and I like that they gave both him and Lazlo a little bit of their season 1 edge again.

The second episode is less good because Kristen Schall is horrible, but I did love their trip to notgreektown.

Overall, there are fewer jokes about how gay everybody is and more jokes about them being vampires, which is a huge improvement over the last two seasons.

I gave up somewhere in the middle of season four. Felt like the show was speedrunning It's Always Sunny's decline in quality.
Its crazy how everytime they retcon a character into a poopoo eater for asspats the quality of the show nosedives. If I had a nickel for everytime that happened, I'd have two nickels, which isn't much, but its still bizzare that it happenend twice on two extremely similar shows.

I only started watching this show recently and have now finished all five seasons. I wouldn't have known there was a fifth season if not for this thread and I probably would have stopped at the end of Season 4 if @Stab You in the Back here hadn't posted that S5 was a big turn around. S3 was weaker than 1 and 2 but still funny. S4 started okay-ish but ended badly. Not just that it wasn't as funny but the characters were becoming unlikeable. Nandor in particular - not in any way due to the actor who remains probably the most likeable of them all (Lazlo a close second) - but for the things his character is now doing. The whole stupid boyfriend thing and the wife thing was just icky to me.

Season 5 though was fairly strong all the way throughout. I worried at the Pride Parade episode what that might be like but in fact it was really funny and also not Woke. Outer Space was cool. This season hasn't given Guillermo any special privileges or sympathy following his coming out and in fact, he's sort of restored to his place as a 'not actually that nice guy thinking he's nice' person. Whilst Nando has the opposite journey going from the rather nasty and also weak person the plot was forcing him into being in S4.

Also, those fucking frogs and Lazlo's creatures! Fucking Hell when I saw those I was actually mildly freaked out. When the little one immediately tries to fuck Guillermo's ear!

Doug Jones is excellent as the Baron in occasional guest appearances. His reactions during Lazlo's roast in response to... certain things are hilarious. I like that they actually let him be evil and scary. And actually that episode really got me with the revelation at the end (of Lazlo's 'depression' just being him trying to decide how to organize his books).

Naja's hex sub-plot was the only real weak line in S5. Like the actress but that was a bit of a filler.

But aside from that, lot of laugh out loud moments in S5 with a nice resolution that I nearly missed after S4's weak showing. Is there going to be a S6?

I just realized the guide is also the same person who voices Mabel in Gravity Falls.

Her voice is kinda super annoying in this show...
Yes, it's Kristen Schall, she's the youngest kid in Bob's Burgers.

Finished S5 shortly after Hulu released it and I can't help but feel disappointed.

At one point, the vampires accepting Guillermo was nice. At the other, it's disappointing that Guillermo pussied out over being a vampire. This dude made it such a big deal to become a vampire and then suddenly doesn't want it? Hopefully season 6 will turn it around though."

I'm glad to see there is a thread for this here. I loved the movie and generally like the show. I'm finally about to start season 4 EDIT: Season 5. I thought it started slumping halfway through season 2. Season 3 had some good moments but, while Young Colin was amusing, the whole season suffered for me from the lack of true Colin Robinson.

Also doll Nadja is retarded and I was bored to death with all the gay shit, particularly Guillermo. And would it kill them to cast an attractive woman occasionally? I don't want to watch dogs like Jonah Hill's fat sister and fucking Janice from the Sopranos. I'm surprised they haven't had Lena Dunham too. Sheesh.

Well, I watched the first half of season 5 and I see it is still shoehorned with gay shit everywhere. Also Kristen Schall (who looks like she aged a decade or two) is now part of the main cast. Yay.

Sorry if I sound like a commie but omnisexual vampires are not a big sticking point for me. It would be a fun twist if there were at least one straight vampire, but I don't think the world can handle that right now. In the end, even Colin Robinson was not immune.
