What's the day everything went wrong?

Unironically one day historians will pinpoint 9/11 as the end of the American Empire and Pax Americanis
You had me until Pax Americanis, it's pretty generous to call the period between WWII and 9/11 any kind of pax. America is too young to have any period long enough to equivocate with Pax Romana or Pax Mongolia anyways

Apparently my latin is garbage and it should be pax americana, but I digress....
For the US at least I would say we've been at peace (on our own soil) since the end of the civil war (if im not forgetting anything after that), maybe the closest you could get to a break would be the bombing of pearl harbor (and subsequently WW2), but in general I view the world wars as Europe having a slap fight until America decides to step in and put everyone in the timeout corner. Its undeniable that when we tell people to think twice, they generally listen to us, hence the analagous power of pax romana or pax mongolica

The day that one guy discovered fire outside of his cave.
Should have stayed inside.

The day the TSA was established. Fuck that bit of scare tactic legislation so hard.

Admiral McRaven apologizes in his book for being the guy who came up with the "Take your shoes off to be scanned" idea while he was in a phone meeting with the head of FBI's counter terror task force

The day the earth created the movie good burger

I rewatched it a few months ago and honestly, it's not that bad.

The day the music died.

And they were singing byyyyyyye byyyyyye miss American pie.

May of 2018.

What happened then?

not really a day more of a year

2016

Clowns, the elections and all sorts of drama and chaos

2016 was just finishing what 2014 started, 2014 was the year when things really started getting awful if you ask me.

Gamergate, Ferguson Missouri, the Russians invading Ukraine, Robin Williams suicide, all these crazy, terrible things started happening that year.

Plus that was the year The Force Awakens was filmed, helping to kickstart the "woke" era of popular culture.

2016 is when it reached critical mass, yes, but 2014 is when it really began in earnest.

The 2008 Financial Crash.

Compare to 9/11. A pair of burning buildings falling down on top of thousands of people was a horrific sight, but there were tales of heroism in that event with the first responders and volunteers.

Row upon row of perfect two-story houses with spacious yards shuttered up and empty after ten years, virtually worthless despite the fact that nobody can afford them, whole neighborhoods turning into ghost towns and high school kids on heroin that's cheaper than a bag of weed in most areas? And all of the perpetrators escape with zero consequences? That's the death of the American Dream right there.

The day chris failed to shut that god damn thing off.

he might still be that awkward, but non tranny lardass today if only he listened

December 21st, 2012. Everything after that is when shit really started tumbling down.

Yeah, actually now that you put it that way, I could see this as being a Pax Americana. A few instances of terrorism as well as Pearl Harbor kinda interrupted it, but if you aren't counting Vietnam and Korea since it's not on our soil, it is. I don't think it's really ended yet either, but I definitely agree that 9/11 could be the turning point for the end of the era.

Quitting the wrestling team in highschool to smoke weed with losers after school instead.

That was certainly a big one.
