Yeah, once you get outside the realm of retail-released games, things start getting fuzzy. Some people pay big money for store kiosk versions of games despite the software itself being no different than retail releases, but the cart sticker says Not For Resale, so that jacks up the value.Technically some of the demo games (Yoshi Story International Version is complete and was seen in store kiosks for instance) are rarer, I think, but it depends on if you count those.
I tried for a complete N64 collection too, and ended up giving up at about the 60 game mark since I was sick of buying outright garbage. And I'm still missing a lot of good games that just never got cheap: all three Mario Parties, Paper Mario, Ogre Battle 64, and Majora's Mask, to name a few.I was going for a CIB N64 collection a few years ago, but I slept on it and now its so much money and, just as importantly, physical space to dedicate to housing almost 300 boxed games that I would rather be playing on some form of emulator. Also, in person collecting really dried up for me. Speculators killed it, its no fun going to yard sales for games when you literally have to wake up at 6 in the morning and be the first one there to stand a chance. Would have more fun collecting literally anything else. I do still buy (mostly boxed) NES/SNES/N64 games though.
I had that, but stupidly sold it. I have the PS2 Stand-Alone Complex and had the PSP version until a friend gave me $100 for it when I needed cash urgently.Ghost in the Shell for the original PlayStation. I bought it the day it came out. I have no intentions of parting with it.
Just a heads up, if they aren't broken, dumped or just PAL versions of NTSC games with no content differences, your alpha games are worth hundreds of dollars each, maybe even more depending on what they are. Or, I suppose, less if they are all sports and shovelware. Feel free to upload them as a service to the world, if you want, but you could make a bit of money selling them to the right people if you don't.I had a lot of shit from the NES era forwards with pristine boxes because the boxes were put in a big box out in the storage unit. I don't know what is rare but I looked up prices for some things a while ago and was surprised.
(only looking at sold items on ebay)
Rocket Jockey - not worth shit, like five bucks. Surprising.
The Tone Rebellion - not worth shit.
Fallout 2, big box in mint condition, complete with manual(never tried the recipes) and all that - price varies but I saw a copy in the same condition as mine go for $250. Weird, it was a very popular game.
Daggerfall complete with box, hugely popular game like Fallout so there should be tons of copies out there - 90-150 bucks.
UFO: Enemy Unknown (X-Com) - should be worth something but nah, unless it's on CD32, the playstation version isn't worth anything either and that I can understand.
Sin & Punishment, brand new, not worth shit. Same with Tales of Phantasia.
Vagrant Story and games like that, worthless.
Game & Watch stuff is always expensive.
What really surprised me was the value of Star Ocean: Second Story(PAL), last fall when I looked it up a complete copy in good condition sold for $150 and up. At a webstore it has a trade in value of 2000SEK(~200$) in store credit.
Pokemon Gold with box/manual in new condition is expensive but I only have the box/manual because I gave the cartridge and a gameboy color to the kid of a neighbor that helped me clear out a storage unit a couple of years ago, the kid was really happy to get a really old game so that was fun.
This is my (cartridge less) Pokemon. Box has been opened twice, once to get the game out, the other time just now to get the manual and stuff out. Since then it's been in a box with other games.

Digging around I also found Probotector, PAL version of Contra. Box is in really good condition.

That's the overall condition of most things I own. I don't collect or try to preserve things in good condition, I'm just lazy and forget where I put things.
The actually most rare things I have is probably some old Saturn alphas/betas/RCs that I got from a dude that used to work for Sega. I don't remember what they were and I don't think it's anything remotely interesting but I should probably rip those and upload them somewhere. They're probably in another forgotten box, I chucked them in there and forgot about them until now.

If you are serious about it, you might want to check this place out. https://www.obscuregamers.com/forums/ I don't think they appreciate "join 4 sell" people, but if you need help dumping dev stuff, they are where I'd turn.Thank you, I thought that only applied to rare arcade boards and old carts. I will upload them if I stumble upon them, things like that should be available to anyone interested.
That's a very good collection. I crossed out any games I don't have (and I don't have a cart of Banjo-Tooie but I do have Rare Replay which has the rom):I've got hard cartridge copies of Earthbound, Crono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG for SNES, and Harvest Moon 64 as well. Used to also have a cart/box/book of Splatterhouse 2, but I sold it.
Edit- Just remembered I also have the sequel to Hotel Dusk, Last Window. Only released in Japan and PAL. Glad it's in English for playing.
Edit 2- Found a pic I took of my SNES and N64 collection last year-
