Capes In 2020
Capes In 2020 refers to a tongue-in-cheek campaign to make capes a popular fashion trend in the year 2020. The trend began with a post on Reddit's /r/unpopularopinion before growing into a popular subreddit, /r/thecaperevolution.knowyourmeme.com
This will last for a week before everyone calls them gay and they give up
Lets just remove an unnecessary intermediate step here, shall we?Reddit is cancer

Harambe was a good meme because it was the reaction to the Cincinatti Zoo trying to pull some major shit. Long story short: a poorly-supervised black kid jumps into the pen of a gorilla, the gorilla was just sitting around not doing anything, and the zoo's reaction was to murder the gorilla, instead of, you know, just tranquilizing it or something. So, their social media got flooded by angry people, and they had to lock everything down and even take their phone number off of their website. It'd all make for a great episode of the Internet Historian.Anything Harambe.
The world collectively sperging out at the death of a gorilla was incredible. Of course this coinciding closely with many riots and police shootings of blacks.

I put a picture of crucified Harambe in a high school presentation in like September-October 2016 because I didn't give a fuck. Good timesHarambe was a good meme because it was the reaction to the Cincinatti Zoo trying to pull some major shit. It also happened in mid 2016, so it was a nice breather amidst the unstoppable torrent of autism surrounding Trump's presidential campaign, where countless mongoloids were saying "He has no chance in hell to become the president, but let's freak out and light ourselves on fire anyway because we hate specifically Donald Trump so much because reasons, even though there's no possible way he'll win"
The most I could see that ever taking off is capes becoming the 2020's fedora.

And then the election happened, and Tumblr/twitter users were unironically angry that people writing in a vote for Harambe for president in their eyes caused Hillary to lose the election.
I remember Dat Boi being a spring 2016 thing. Pepe wasn't a hate symbol at the time.My least liked was Dat Boi. It was forced because people on the left got assmad about Pepe and that was their alternative.
