what’s the worst season and why is it summer

Imagine a nice summer day, you're sitting outside enjoying the peace and quiet, when suddenly:

I pray for eternal winter just to keep these fuckers off the road. Oh and there's no bugs in the winter, that's awesome too.

Spring sucks because the moderate weather barely even lasts more than two weeks. Summer sucks because it's consistently hot for at least three months. Fall sucks because the moderate weather barely lasts two weeks. Winter is great because at least you can sleep under a ton of comfy blankets every night.

Fuck the universe. Except cozy blankets. Cozy blankets are life.

When living in places that had all four seasons, liked summer best, winter least. Didn't care for the bleakness and darkness of winter.

Presently live in a place that has no summer or winter as is commonly known, just a long spring that segues into a long fall. Have the occasional two or three hot days in the spring and two or three relatively cold days in the fall. Things grow here all year round. My favorite period of the year is May-June-July, with the longest days, and least favorite November-December-January, with the short days.

Summer is always my favorite season because I am obsessed with Thunderstorms and they usually come out during the Summer however is by no means perfect. Although I complain about winter being too cold and depressing, at least there are no mosquitos and at least it isn't too hot. Spring is usually a season in anticipation to summer and Autumn is the holiday season. Autumn becomes very eventful.

I used to hate winter with a passion. Last year I regularly turned the heat all the way off in my room on a regular basis, and did so every single time I would go to sleep too.

Being even slightly too hot is miserable.

The worst season is the rainy season. Everything is grey and depressing, it drives the vermin inside, and everything unpaved turns into a quagmire. And, of course, it's wet as hell. That's winter, spring, fall, and parts of summer where I live.

Temperature is usually moderate though, so I wouldn't trade it for a normal winter or some shit.

Summer where I live tends to amount to nothing but pea soup heat that you can drink and where being in shade doesn't do jack shit because the wind is a blow dryer in your face; paired with absolutely miserable as shit thunderstorms that roll in and cause blackouts more times yearly than any other season. Rarely washes away the humidity too.

I guess mother nature's been hearing my especially furious bitching lately, because the whole weekend has been bottoms 60's and high 50's F with breezy winds, chilly nights, and Spring tier conditions. I'll take that, snow and ice, or rainy, rotted, dying trees and somber skies literally any day over Summer. August is gonna be a shitshow, I can feel it.

*fistbumps for thunderstorm obsession*

Literally the only positive I have about summer.

For many years summer had been my favorite season, until I visited a friend of mine in Europe. She lived in Warszaw, and that trip I'll never forget. Yes, we had a lot of fun, because the first half of my staying there was awesome. The weather was nice, it was warm, but not hot. But then the nightmare started. I have attacked mosquitos every day, and I wanted to destroy each of them. The second thing - motorcycles. It's summer, it's hot and of course, you want to sleep with an open window. But you can't, because the noise is so bad.
And since then summer for me is about noise, mosquitoes and beating red and covered with sweat

i like summer.

It may be easier to escape from the cold than it is to escape from the heat.

Humanity had artificial heating figured out since before recorded history. It's only the past few centuries that we figured out how to create artificial cooling that's actually somewhat effective.

I tolerate summer. Here it’s brief, the rest of the year is cool and damp and so our brief summers are kind of nice. Next week is set to be a scorcher though and I will probably end up grumbling about it.

I've inverted a bit about my dislike of summer, largely because of my renewed plant growing/vegetable gardening hobby. Still don't like working outdoors doing hard manual labor during it, but I'm slowly getting more acclimated to it. And my skin's tanning more and burning less too, as a result.

This all comes after being a shut-in for most of my 20s. I loved dark rooms and air conditioning for quite a while. To be fair, I still do. But sunlight is a good disinfectant and energizing when you're exposed to it enough.

Summer is good if you garden or farm. Well, sometimes anyway. Drought, high temps, the higher likelyhood of thunderstorms, and lots of pests and diseases that love hot weather are not ideal. However, most of the crops we like do enjoy hot weather. Peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, etc. Summer is full of mosquitoes and flies. However, late in the summer, I have that one month I can swim in the lakes near my house. If it is hot here, the humidity drops like a rock, so it is actually not as bad as it could be. However, there are often wildfires that get so bad we have had severe air quality warnings to stay inside with our air filtration systems on. One year, it was nearly dark from the smoke in the middle of the day.

I am more a spring and fall fag myself. Winter is as mixed bag as summer. Winter brings massive and powerful subtropical storms and power and water can go out for up to a week. But when it snows, it is pretty and I would rather have it cold than hot.
