Like in my local place, this isn't like that at all, but anywhere on the Anglosphere it just seems that people are constantly offended, being SJWs/woke, censor anything even remotely off putting and so on. How did this whole thing start? Why nobody's waking up? There must be a reason behind it

I actually understood this question when it was just the headline.
I really don’t know how an “Anglosphere” which sounds like some br*tish hellscape, turns into an SJW/woke place.
Don’t tell us you’re one of those isle wiggers.

I ain't one, I don't even know what you're on about as a matter of fact

Back in the day, very sensitive people were run off non-sensitive places or made their own places to be sensitive in, to success or failure depending on what kind of sensitive they were and what kind of space they ran.

Now, the culture of the internet is so easy to access that it's an exaggerated version of IRL. Crazies of all colors spend excessive time on the internet, including a lot of sensitive people who now can ask mods to ban people for being insensitive to them. Mods ban it because they work for companies that show ads on your social media sites and don't want people to be hurt or the advertisers dropping them. Now insensitive people have to figure out communities of their own away from massive social networking sites that are easy enough for your old easily offended aunt or your young adult cousin who can't accept criticism in any way to use. These people also scare off normies, because you can ask people what social media they use and it's usually watching or looking at pictures for less than an hour a day thanks to the raving loons who screeched the rest out.

TL;DR: Sensitive people have more power and are more obnoxious than ever, kicking everyone who can't use or tolerate the system out.

A combination of Tumblr bleeding into the mainstream and effective privatisation of the Internet through Silicon Valley controlling pretty much every internet avenue.

It was a gradual process between 2010 and 2016.

They really clamped on communities they didn't control in 2016. And After 2016 Google became pretty much useless since anything you look for will prioritize their approved sources over anything else.

I don’t understand these 2025 users. They seem dumber than the last.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening in other places? Will it also infect the rest of the world?

Also a core aspect to your main question is corporatism. As the Internet has become a larger and larger profit generator so too has the need to expand that power generation outward. In order to expand power corporations have continuously cast a wider blander net in order to appeal to the largest possible market. The less offensive things one can find online the more likely one is to be funneled into the various tunnels of content regurgitation.

It lines up closely to when the smartphone was invented and every retard on the planet suddenly had access to the Internet whenever they wanted with minimal barrier of entry. Also when it became normal to start having your full name on websites displayed for all to see and websites really pushing for that, gamergate and trump also pushed the far left to become more bold in censoring speech like being able to say fag and retard in in-game voice chats.

Honey, that's the 2 Million dollar question that's hard for anyone on the internet to answer, even those who think they have the right answer. It's hard to predict and it's something we're slowly learning about. We won't know what happens until it happens. I'm sorry to say I don't have an answer. :(

So mass appeal, profitability and too easy access are the main reasons behind this. Did I get it right?

Just like Hollywood!

For big social media sites like Facebook or Youtube this is generally the case, but when it comes to more niche communities the draconian moderation is typically enforced by jobless troons who can afford to be at their computers 24/7 tone policing their little fiefdom until it's more about them and their retarded delusions than whatever the people were gathered there to discuss in the first place.

Mainstreaming and profitability of the internet, social media made it commonly accepted to post your entire name and address, the dumbing down of everything to increase mass appeal, the rise of purity tests and most importantly the ease of access to DDoS attacks.

If we still had dial-up or had to connect over HAM radio almost nobody would be online.

in 2001, everybody on the computer was White, affluent and interested in computers.
as the Internet grew in popularity and became so cheap to access even africans are here now, it absorbed everybody, even people whose personalities do not mesh well with the Internet and who have no interest in computers at all. people who would rather be at a bar are online now instead, because the economy got so fucked up that owning a gaming computer is cheaper than drinking at a bar.
these people that shouldn't even be here developed a bunch of personality disorders from this unhospitable environment. they feel deeply ashamed that they're sitting at a computer all day. this is an extremely uncomfortable environment for extroverts to be in. they overcompensate by acting like a psycho cunt. and have enough social skills to get moderator positions and janny your messages.

I wish I was:
1. Born earlier so I would have experienced the internet as it used to be, kinda like the wild west
2. from the English speaking realm because internet in my country sucks and always sucked since it's full of normies even more so in comparison to the US plus they speak English awfully

How much have I missed by being not old enough to experience the golden age of the internet and was born in a shithole? It just begs my mind
