This'd be a red flag that you're Indian were it not for the Asuka picture which assures me that you're clearly Hispanic.
It's a dead giveaway due to the simple fact it says "Happy Thursday", at this point I guess most Americans had enough contact with Mexicans (mostly, other flavors of Hispanics too) and Spanish classes in school to at least recognize the language.

Still, if it was an Indian their English would be worse, way worse, or at least that's been my little experience with saars in the internet.

Will it ever be resurrected from the dead? I just feel sad that this kind of thing just didn't exist in my country
I think there's a decent possibility it could be revived, but it won't be exactly the same. There are a number of ways that could go down. Tech companies come and go in their popularity with some companies going from a top to a 2nd tier player (like Microsoft, still on top of the desktop market, but most people use phones and tablets now and they missed that) or even on life support (Yahoo!). Facebook, Google, Reddit, and Twitter are all due for a shakeup, and a few of those are already losing users. When they go down either through bankruptcy or the governnment treating them as monopolies to be broken up and there is nothing to immediately take their place, it could result in people scattering to their own personal sites and single-topic forums. I'm not too optimistic about it going back completely to the Wild West era paradise it was in 1999, because that requires a certain type of person willing to do a lot more for themselves . The reason the iPhone + Facebook and other social media were so toxic is they opened the floodgates of people who don't care about how anything works, but still want it to be provided for them, giving companies like Facebook a guaranteed market. If/when it does happen, it will mostly be people like us, and if the Internet is new to your country, you're probably in a better position to see something like the old Internet, but on a smaller scale as the more technically-minded people are the first to get on.

The moment you are able to seal yourself off in an echo chamber and get comfortable there long enough, hearing anything that goes against that grain tends to flips some set of fight or flight switches in many people's heads (especially if they don't get out much and actually socialize in real life). Social media statistics and instant gratification turn it into an addiction, which can make it an enabler of egos. Those are next to impossible to not fracture if somebody goes long enough having been told 24/7 in some form their ideas are right.

Started in early 2010s, became a cultural shit-flinging ground around 2014-2016, but really took off post 2020 with COVID making the internet such a persistent presence that people came to obsess over.
I wish I was:
1. Born earlier so I would have experienced the internet as it used to be, kinda like the wild west
2. from the English speaking realm because internet in my country sucks and always sucked since it's full of normies even more so in comparison to the US plus they speak English awfully

How much have I missed by being not old enough to experience the golden age of the internet and was born in a shithole? It just begs my mind

I'm assuming you live in a third-world country (and one that speaks Spanish because of your profile picture), which in that case, I don't think having forums be around still would increase the average intelligence of your country's citizens, if I'm going to be honest.

I won't deny it but I won't say it's true. You'll be left alone to figure shit out. Also people in my country speak English way worse than Indians, it's just that I speak English well enough but most of them can't utter or spell the most basic of words, let alone sentences.
¡Feliz jueves! paired with Evangelion are memes most common for the noise-metal-synthwave band HEALTH.
At least in my experience.
What band? Never heard of them and I'm saying that as a metal fan

You can just not read if you don't want, it's as simple as that

20+ years ago, being online was more complicated.

And, the flywheel of top-down rhetoric hadn't been fully spun up, yet.

Think of it like this: the internet was marketed as a Wild West…

Spurring free-thinkers to set up virtual general stores, haberdasheries, and the like.

Encouraging people to hang their shingle in a new frontier with many possibilities.

Stake your claim, online!

It's free (kinda), and you can get rich (maybe)!

This Wild West ruse required multiple levels of international cooperation to operate, and was too expensive to police—or rather, policing it with an iron fist would drive away would-be settlers..

Arguably, it was only via appearing "open/free/idyllic"… that so many of us could be conned into putting down roots… like believing in Google's "Don't be evil" slogan.

With hindsight, it's simple to see how this supposed bastion of rights, freedoms, and etc.… was a clever way of enticing many millions of people to think of The Internet as something it was not; and never will be.

Men in powdered wigs taking control, dressed in their fruity outfits and with their nonsense rules… IS NOT A BUG… the plan is going as simulated.

Plus, harvesting the friction generated between newfags/oldfags (to be extremely reductive)… is… at the end of the day… where the money is.

edit: added some words

There has always been Politically Correct culture in the West. It used to be mainly the religious right, with overzealous christian soccer moms trying to ban free speech and freedom of expression for DA CHILDREN!!!! Now, the pendulum has switched to the left - to which the reasoning for censorship has switched to MUH MISOGNY/RACISM, etc. The pendulum will go forth and back. And usually, that would be fine. These people would be ignored, or even ridiculed. But since the internet has invaded every single facet of life, it is hard to ignore these people. Not to mention the certain entities and their agendas pushing this stuff, with the end goal of eliminating free speech.

The Asuka pfp is a much bigger giveaway that one is Latin American than speaking the literal Spanish language.

when mbas figured out you could make money off the internet itself, rather than using the internet to sell other goods and services.

For me it's really easy to ignore it since it doesn't exist in my country, it's just that whenever I use the English speaking internet I encounter it a lot. But literally all I have to do to get rid of it is to touch some grass and that's it. If you're also outside of the US this might work as well for you.

Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong

So essentially greed, core part of human nature
All animefags should be killed.
I'm not even animefag, I only like this meme of feliz jueves of asuka from evangelion because I watched evangelion but that's about it, I don't go obsessing over anime nor Japan because I got better stuff to do in life. Also your UN is questionable, to say the least

in 2001, everybody on the computer was White
You missed out on trolling the chinks by saying you think Lucy Liu is pretty. Half the heads in every California university would explode. (Rice came out.)

Not sure why they hated her so much. She looked rural/low-class ("too Chinese") to them, I suppose.

Damn I'm too foreigner to know what the hell you're even talking about

OP I think of the root causes as a confluence of factors
The complicity of mainstream media with the state, the preeminence of the neoliberal global economy, the weakness of neoconservatives, the long-term strategizing of democrats and progressive NGOs, the lack of nationalism in the West, the "modernization" of Smith-Mundt, the wants of the academic intelligentsia who worship the likes of Marcuse, Horkheimer and Foucault, the financiers all serve some strange goal of destroying Edom and bringing in Tikkum Olam, the want of communism by midwits and lumpenproles, etc. All these influences come together to tell you to be quiet as they kill you.

It's not one thing that made it this way, and if it hasn't come to where you live, it will.

This is the Farms, not Reddit. We say nigger here.
I didn't mean in the sense of like saying it's -ist, -phobic, or whatever other jargon leftists use. I meant instead, why in the actual hell would you want to call yourself after your enemy? It doesn't make any sense

I feel so dumb that I don't understand a lot of what you're saying. Where can I study about the topics you mentioned? I just feel so stupid for this
