NC is certainly gorgeous whenever I visit and yeah the small towns were all really great, I do have a little town there in mind from last time I visited that had one of the best burgers I've ever had. the only hiccup for me is some of the towns are a little gay and mountain driving is a thing which I hate but I suppose that's what happens when you live in a flat state.
North Carolina or Virginia outside of the DC suburbs will probably be the best choice. I don't know much about South Carolina besides it has less jobs than the North.

The issue with Virginia outside of the DC suburbs, otherwise known as Northern Virginia, is how left leaning it is. Due to the government worker economy and the number of white collared jobs that have popped up since the 1980s, Virginia is a blue state in shades rivaling Massachusetts. The baby boomers were left-leaning moderates but their children have grown up and are even further left. There is also the children of all the Latin American immigrants who have settled in Northern Virginia, they're citizens despite the parents having questionable legality.

Northern Virginia has been responsible for electing a millennial tranny state representative who managed to dislodge a long time incumbent republican. Said tranny got a lot of out-of-state campaign donations. Northern Virginia is also responsible for electing an Asian Gen X representative who during Governor Northam's term, proposed a bill to allow abortion up to point of the mother dilating while giving birth. There was also the numerous gun control bills proposed that would of rivaled California.

The only reason why they currently have a Republican governor was Loudoun County public schools covered up an alleged* tranny anally raping two girls at two different schools. That was enough to outrage the suburbs to elect Youngkin and McAuliffe coasted his entire campaign due to inaccurate polling. This year is an election year for governor and due to state law, Governor Youngkin can't run for a consecutive reelection so his charisma vacuum LT governor is running and is getting absolutely wrecked by the popular, former CIA employee Abigail Spanberger. Spanberger is overwhelmingly popular with the government worker caste and enough people are pissed over the government worker layoffs despite the fact it would help lower home prices, which I will get to next. It also doesn't help that she is openly against Federal immigration enforcement despite claiming to be law and order, this will only increase demographic change and guarantees her votes. The Republican party is also lousy at attracting younger voters and stick to traditional media as opposed to ads on Internet streaming. Set your VPN to Virginia like I do and watch without ad blockers. It's non-stop DNC election ads.

Concerning the Government worker caste, Northern Virginia's property values are ridiculously high compared to other major American metropolitan areas. Having a caste of white collared workers, getting guaranteed income because they achieved tenure with the Federal government, along with Federal contractors supporting all the offices in the area, has lead to the ridiculous real estate prices. Rent isn't as bad, although high, owning is out of the question. My family member, whom I get all of this information from, is stuck in their three bedroom starter home because the cost of real estate has exceeded their income. New construction is all cheap, cookie-cutter, high density townhomes and duplex condos. Out in Loudoun county, a place once noted for disused farmland is now full of data centers. It also gets worse, because of the IT service jobs now growing from the little tech industry there, the H1B visas, the Indians, have moved out there. The Indian government advises their country's migrants to move to Loudoun county for work.

Northern Virginia is awful and just dominates elections because it forms a voting block with Richmond and elements of Norfolk and Hampton Roads.

* Loudoun county's independent investigation apparently ruled said rapist was not a tranny. I have no idea whether or not this accurate but his own mother said he wasn't one but just liked wearing women's clothing at times. She also said it was consensual.

Yeah, and it's driving up the house prices like crazy because it's even worse where these fuckers come from so they overpay and ruin it for everyone. They clearly don't do any research, which is worse when they realize this isn't the heckin wholesome simple small town living they thought so they try selling the house after a year for even more than they bought it for. House prices are a big deal because rent prices are FUCKED. It's tripled since covid.
There's still opportunities but it's drying up. Makes me ill to think what this place will look like in a decade. Anyways I still recommend as an option for kiwis... but it's not perfect, nowhere is.

Appalachia is getting inundated because of the young people leaving Florida. A starter home in a neighborhood worth raising a family in is half a million dollars there and the insurance is insane for obvious reasons.

got my eyes set on wyoming
what do i need to know? how's the job market in particular?

Wyoming is becoming like Florida, loads of loaded retirees moving there, but unlike Florida the job market there is pretty damn bad for anything non service industry.

oh goddammit
does anywhere have a good job market these days?

Take what you do, perform a job search for that on a nationwide scale, and have a look. I can only tell you some about Wyoming because I go there, keep in touch with some people I have met over the years there, and had a pretty close coworker who grew up there and has family there. The state's main non-service industries are mining, energy, and agriculture, so if you work in one of those, or want to change industries to one of those, take a look at what is in demand there. The thing is, the population is pretty small there, so what is proportionally large as an industry, may still not be an encouraging number of jobs.

I dont think retirees like the cold that much
Or the heat.

At my latitude, I see many retirees who classify as "snowbirds" because they will migrate to the north in spring, and migrate to the south for winter in the fall. Through keeping a "summer home" and "winter home" they can pick and choose one which gives particular tax advantages as their primary residence.

That is true. Florida is snowbird central because if they can afford to live in two places many of them will so they don't have to put up with the longest of the southern summers.

Really? I dont think retirees like the cold that much.

Many of them come from places as cold as Wyoming, they aren't moving there for weather they move there to get away from insufferable city dwellers and diversity, and income tax. Not only do I know people there who have seen it, but for the past few years I've been seeing articles about how many of them are moving there, if you look it up you'll see the same.

As A FUCKING LEAF, I've been looking at moving to Prince George in BC from the cursed lower mainland (Vancouver area for those who don't know what that means) but this commie faggot NDP provincial government is so bad, Alberta seems to be the real answer, somewhere close to the BC border and nearish to the rockies. One shitty thing I've heard about Alberta though (depending on where you are) is if you want to get out into crown land to do some shooting or just get away from it all, it can be hard to find a good place since so many corpo niggers own a lot of the land and a lot of the oil/gas access roads owned by them can be blocked and locked. BC has a great advantage in having tons of areas/clear cuttings to escape to and do some shooting on. It's a shame central and northern BC is under the faggotry of the southern coast government, such a beautiful area to live and work and the people seem nice, it's basically Alberta west.

So what about the Shenandoah River Valley?
Gun rights in Virginia are meh I believe but that seems to be a balance between /innawoods/ and not living in too much of a backwater.
Thoughts?

3) Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
I will double post because Coeur d'Alene is a meme hideaway. If anyone else is interested in here be forewarned that this is the OG Neo Nazi hotbed and is still the launch pad for a bunch of other "patriotic societies" so if your fine being shoulder to shoulder with closet skinheads but in a gorgeous setting i'd go there. Also know its the closest inland port if that means anything to anyone :)

What about White Rock/Surrey Area? While the "Vancouver" hordes were about in the summer it seems to be a holdout of at least semi-normal people.

Anyone got any opinions on Vermont? I remember for a while with "think Vermont" they used to have a relocating program, that and their Darn Tough sock factories are there, really good fucking socks. Gun laws are surprisingly tame for a blue state. Honestly the one thing slightly holding me back is that it IS a blue state and trannies seem to love moving there, but at the same time I've come to learn that some red states can be just as cucked if not worse.

Since you obviously know alot about VA do you thoughts about my question here?

This is from 2020 when VA's state legislature was going full retard on the gun law and Northam was willing to sign anything because he wanted to keep his job after the KKK/Blackface yearbook photo scandal. A friend of mine in state actually drove to Richmond to protest what was going on.

I haven't kept up with what has happened since but if I were a betting man, Prince William County, Fauquier County, and Stafford County are more suspect now. Since you're saying Shenandoah River Valley counties, then yeah maybe you're safe, for now. Virginia's state police is pretty centralized and will get involved in county business if directed too. If VA gets Jay Jones as the new AG, everyone of these counties will get sued for noncompliance. If you really want to roll the dice and choose to live in the sticks, you might as well move to West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, or even Ohio. The only reason to consider where you're thinking is if you need to commute the cities for work occasionally (don't do it daily, you'll hate your life).

I know I come across as pessimistic but my time in California taught me it doesn't take much to turn a state into a leftist authoritarian shit hole. Virginia is going to be the new Massachusetts if the Democrats win. I hope this was helpful.

It is, though I have to admit Charlottesville/Albemarle County was more of what I was thinking
