Whose head has gotten bigger: J.K. Rowling or George R.R. Martin

To my knowledge, neither Rowling or Martin screamed at a director and screenwriter of a live adaptation of their books for around an hour for daring to change their dialogue, so they'll always come in behind EL James, IMO. Nor have they launched campaigns against readers leaving bad reviews of their books on Amazon or GoodReads, so they're also behind the likes of Anne Rice, Christopher Pike, or Melissa Douthit.

I don't get the outrage about Rowling expressing leftist opinions on Twitter, since I guessed that she was hardly a Tory from the general themes of her books, but I suppose that outrage is because of the general belief now everyone that to the left of Margaret Thatcher are only pretending for brownie points.

Remind me, does old George make it a yearly tradition to apologize for offing his characters?

J K Rowling. What did she change after retroactively trying to retroactively pretend Dumboldore (I can't seem to write it right tonight) was gay and Hermione black, coming up with prequels and sequels, what has the Harpy done further to shit on the Harry Potter franchise

Rowling never said Hermione was black. She said Hermione could be black, because a black actress was cast for the character in a stage production. For fuck's sake, I don't know why I have to keep repeating this. Rowling has said a lot of stupid shit about these books but retroactively changing Hermione's race isn't one of them.

Fuck I just remembered something that Rowling did. When the play first opened she forced a hashtag on twitter begging whoever saw it to keep spoilers to themselves.

She really thinks she has that kind of power to keep people from slipping details. Unfortunately for her spoilers trickled out anyway and everyone learned how fanfiction-tier the writing for this thing really was.

Guess she forgot about this.

Guess she forgot about this.

Maybe she just thought those days were behind them (it had been almost ten years, by then, surely that's plenty enough time for people to change) and fans were more civilized on the Internet such as theater junkies. Or better yet, maybe she thought people would've forgotten about her expressing regret over the Time Turners and therefore not remember they were all destroyed off-screen except for some super speshul one.

Hi new member, sorry for the necro but I'm legitimately curious how you could ask this question but not include Terry goodkind as one of the options. Man's ego is Legendary

Dude, I barely know who the fuck that guy even is. Judging by the link, I'm more than happy to remain in ignorance, too.

Honestly I might be bothered enough to make my own lolcow thread on the guy but I dunno if he's prolific enough to have enough embarrassing gems like this.

He let the HBO series do that for him.

Say what you will, He's a great delegator!

Rowling, hands down.

GRRM is just an old man who clearly wants to spend his last years and his HBO money farting around Santa Fe, but can't due to his rabid fans and HBO trying to keep the gravy train going. And while he can be preachy, keep in mind that he's an old hippy, so it comes with the territory. Also something something Robert Jordan.

Beyond the fact that she has her own griefing thread here, Rowling is seemingly hellbent on being the Millennial answer to George Lucas. Answering questions nobody asked, pulling shit out of her ass for brownie points, and milking her diehard manchild fans for all they're worth would be bad enough. But liking TERF tweets on her public account shows that she can't even get being an SJW right.

The only thing I know about terry goodkind from is the legend of the seeker book series. Suppose it should not shock me considering some contents of the series.

As for keeping to the thread, ill have to agree rowling hands down. She just cant help but try and ride out a series that has gone past its point and just wants to stay relevant. GRRM comes off as wanting to fade into obscurity.
