Why are people writing OPs in the Community Feature Submissions thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
In summary:
  • No mod/null gave any opinion on any of this. The community happenings post linking to this thread was deleted but no reason was provided. This matches what I said earlier in the thread: if you don't like a post there or its too long, report it and a mod will delete it if it is indeed homosexual.
  • No other long posts of mine were removed and no one who is a mod told me to make them shorter
  • No long time "famous" users with lots of posts seem to care in the first place to take a strong stance either way
  • Some posts could be shorter or use spoiler tags more
  • It was emphasized by multiple people: if you think a post is too long fucking report it and mods will remove it or sanction da user.
  • A post being long or shorter doesn't generally seem to have much impact on its reach or interest level (at least judging by ratings). It seems the newsworthiness/interest of the story itself is the determining factor
  • Some people genuinely like longer posts where appropriate
  • Most people just said "why don't whypeepul scroll they web browsers" and don't care
  • Most people just said "I read the first paragraph and scroll my web browser if it's something I know I won't care about"
  • The most vocal people seem to be people with very few posts and/or are relatively new users (probably zoomers who use mobile phones)
Outcome: Longposts technically win. It is better that there is a post about something in the first place instead of there being no post.

All of you nerds who think you're William Faulkner and "want to engage the reader" with your "passion for the subject" bullshit can save your damn passion and prose for the main thread where discussion is occurring. The Community Happenings page is for the amuse-bouche. The lolcow threads are where the main courses are served (or troughs, depending on who we're talking about).

I get some people were asking for brevity, you on the other hand are asking for people to fucking starve to death. This is literally less food than a fucking apple.

No, dipshit, it's to whet your appetite for the actual meal which belongs elsewhere.
There's starving, malnourished kids in the driest most desolate places in Africa that eat more food than a fucking amuse-bouche

An amuse-bouche is like one word:
nigger

The free sampler platters at fucking Costco have more food than an amuse-bouche.

You are doing that false "would you rather have a living daughter or a dead son" two-option bullshit that groomers and pedos do to get parents to troon their children. There aren't just two options, "long post or no post." The option of writing a consise update post with a link to the thread where the meat is happening exists.

I know there aren't just two options. It depends on the scenario as I've said previously.

I have written extremely short updates before: https://kiwifarms.st/threads/community-feature-submissions.114933/page-355#post-19901746

Then what was this?
The thread was a complaint about longposts in specific, so longposts "won" or prevailed.

That doesn't mean people cannot or should not make short or medium posts, it just means longposts have a valid place.

lol now we're getting patch notes for video games in the CFS
It's not a long post. I disavow any connection to my enthusiasm/movement for long posts about actually interesting things.

edit: if it's any consolation I just had a pretty short post removed from the community happenings thread just a few minutes after it was made. longposts 4 ever.
