Why Chris punched holes in the wall

I think to be fair one Chris, he should never of been left in care of Barb.
I agree completely, but I would also argue that the pendulum swings both ways. I know Barb's dementia is a hotly debated issue, so I don't blame you for disagreeing, but I really think that she never should have been left in the care of Chris.

I know nursing homes are often thought of as places to dump unwanted seniors so they can rot, but, that still sounds hundreds of times better than 14bc. Poor diet, living in filth, sexual abuse, theft, aside from smacking Barb around (as far as we know-) Chris already did many of the things you can accuse a shitty home of doing.
Did Barb need a carer? She's back in the house, and I doubt there will be a live in carer. Probably someone doing house visits is sufficing if she has anyone in there.
It's my opinion that someone with Barb's mental state (again, don't blame you if you disagree on that) shouldn't be left alone. Even if she can go through the motions of driving to the store or grabbing a meal replacement shake (remember, Barb does not cook) and go to the bathroom and get in bed on her own, we don't know what her worst days look like.

Also, this is a woman who put a keurig in the bathroom, lived with cat shit smeared on the ground, ate herself into obesity on Sheetz, almost shot her son, ran a man over, etc etc et fucking cetera when she was in her right mind.

Functioning, for Barb, is still hazardous- Moreso now that she might not even remember what dangerous things she's done recently.

I agree, but with the caveat that we do not know what Barbs mental state really is - some speculate she is putting it on to help Chris grift for donations. I'm not so sure, but who fucking knows at this point - maybe she's completely crackers, maybe she's not. If she is senile, then yes Chris should not have been left to look after her.

Barb seems to be a hoarder, and it is the case that lots of people live in their own filth, can barely look after themselves and make poor life choices. It's a horrible reality, but it is not something which will get you institutionalised - I know plenty of people who work in other peoples houses, and finding dog shit on the stairs, or a room full of rubbish is not that rare.

As sad as it is, I know you're right.

However, I do want to bring up one point that I don't think I've seen mentioned before (sorry if it has been) - If Barb could get away with faking insanity, with her victim mentality, then why wouldn't she have done it decades ago?

Different audience and aim, she is not trying to convince medical professionals or the state - just the people stupid enough to send Chris some money.

Which she could have been doing for years, or simply to make Chris and Bob feel bad for her. Hell, she could have done it back when Cole was a child, if she wanted. Or guilt that estranged family into helping her out.

Also, if she were faking, I doubt Chris could get away with stealing money from her.

Effectively her reckless spending using credit cards started the Financhu Saga (by making her mortgage the house to pay them off) before Chris running up debt on toys and videogames worsened the situation. Any way to get free money is a bonus to her, especially as it seems she's never tried once to get Chris to manage his money responsibly (Bob tried, but he died before he could get through to Chris) and the local goodwill stores were probably left with empty shelves once she had visited them.

However, this was probably due to an old fashioned understanding of how mental health is dealt with these days - Chris would likely have been mainstreamed.
Even though people like Chris make funny farms look like a good idea again.

The bitch threatened to kill herself if the filth was cleaned up. She wanted to live in filth.

She wanted to live in filth.
It is fitting that she should live in filth, given that she is human filth.

She whored herself out all her life, tried to steal her sister's husband, and slept with many different guys when Cole was born.

The man Cole thought was his father wasn't even married to Barb, even though she lied to Cole and said he was.

Barb is such trash, and a piece of shit human such as her deserves to live in literal trash. I wonder if she knows that fact on some level, and that is why she surrounds herself with rotting filth because her soul is pure rotting filth.

Ipso facto, she creates a physical representation of her inner self in the external reality.

As far as I know, that's what happened. The US take freedom quite seriously, and there's no law against living in filth.
Chris posted a video touring his house on the exact same day the first episode of Hoarders aired on A&E. It's fully possible Barb and Bob could have watched that show. When Chris's video was reported by trolls, Greene County responded and you can read the response here. Here's a relevant quote:
We have contacted the building official to see if any building, zoning of fire prevention laws apply and were informed that they did not.
Four years later the house burned down.
