Why do furries exist?

Alright, lemme keep this short. A long time ago there was this woman named Eve and an apple...

Eve was manipulated by the snake to eat said apple and she soon developed a fetish for sticking the snake in her vagina, falling for the snake's persuasive sexual fantasies.

Thus, the OG animal fetish was born.

I think linking furries to any larger cultural memes, outside of cartoons, gives them too much credit. It's just the cartoons, everything else comes because of the cartoons. There weren't large numbers of spergs fixated on anthropomorphic animals until after 20th century cartoons came about. Sperg fixations used to be topics that were tied to classical education and the arts, so they at least looked "smart", even if it was just regular spergin. But I guess once children's TV and movies became a thing, some people just stopped their development right there, and never grew up to inject their OCs into Shakespeare or Greek mythology.

I think it's because of bunch of weird autistic people go through puberty and relate the sexual drive to some sort of animalistic nature. They then project and anthropomorphize onto an animal of preference and start jacking it. This reinforces the fetish. This makes them feel good and their autism strikes them hard, forcing them to make it their big identity trait.
Then being the autist freaks that they are they never grow out of it or see it for the stupid shit that it is.

Why does any other sexual fetish exist? Because it gets someone's dick hard. Differences between liking fursuits or liking latex bondage outfits are quite superficial, people just seem to get horny from different things.

You know, I’d be an amazing idea if we strap fursuits to a drop pod and bomb the Middle East with fursuits. Spread the disease there.

Some people just find the concept of an anthro cute / fun to draw

I wish it wasn't associated with the fetishes, dogfuckers, and other bullshit. I think anthro designs are genuinely interesting and, in my personal experience, I've had a blast drawing them.

If the world was a perfect place, there would be separate terms for people who just have a good time making characters with these sort of designs and the degenerate freaks.

I see the interest in furries for two reasons, the more commonly seen reason being the animal fucking and fetishes, or just the simple fact that there is an audience for people that like anthropomorphic animals. I’ve come across a ton of furry art, and there’s a lot of artists that have really good designs for these characters. Sure you have those people who are only in it for the sexual stuff, that’s a given and is obviously common, but there’s also people that just like anthropomorphic characters because they like the art.

That and autism, I guess that’s an easy answer too.

Also consider that these fursuits always look like knock-off Disneyland mascots, which makes fursuiters seem especially creepy, given that those mascots are aimed at kids.

I don't have any shame admitting that those ancient Egyptian Horus/Anibus masks were kinda badass. But this Disney fandom is just evidence of modern day infantilisation.
