Why does Sonic the Hedgehog attract so much autism? - and how come the same doesn't apply to stuff like Mario or Zelda or Crash Bandicoot to the same extent

I've weirdly seen far more degenerate things with Mario guys in recent years, but overall the reason I'd give is "popular video game" Autists and furries tend to flock to whatever the popular things in media are. The infamy associated with 2000s era sonic fans online has kinda tainted perception of the series to those in the know somewhat but unless you're some fucking Californian "influencer" with media connections like Arin Hanson or are somehow actually just fucking retarded you can see with a lot of people, especially normies, the overall consensus is still "oh yeah, sonic!" when they see sonic video game shit. He's SEGA's mascot for a reason.
Hyper-analyzing shit where you lump shit as "low" or "high" functioning in cases like this is fucking gay.

Huh I wonder what the Beyblade fanbase is like.
around a little over a decade ago when they made the metal ones it was mainly high school/college age nostalgia guys on webforums holding local get together tournament meetups and kids who just were basically getting in for the first time due to the the same reasons the original people did back in the day, just with less model kit building. Now though? Fuck if I know. Mainly get yt shorts type clickbait content occasionally about it or some dudes that 3d print stuff showcasing what they made. Wouldn't doubt there's probably some degenerates at this point it's already been over 20 fucking years that's certainly enough time for that kind of shit to simmer.

The bronycons aren't as bad as some of the rest. The people discussing Sonic are usually lisping, barely able to form a word.

Sorry, anyone who is not motivated by sheer hatred of Bronies needs to report to their nearest prison with an execution chamber.

Just explain what you are doing there and they will happily oblige your request to be immediately executed.

Sonic was a 2cool4school furry hedgehog. Then they started introducing more obscure hedgehogs to create some kind of hedgehog MCU.
Imagine what growing up thinking that sonic is the definition of cool would do to someone, or what kind of person would think that in the first place.

Man I noticed this for soooo long. Same w Dragonball Z, WWE, Godzilla (that one's for furry autists), and anime in general.

I have a tier list...

High functioning autism: Pokemon, Anime

Autism: My Little Pony

Disabled-tier Autism: Sonic the Hedgehog, WWE, Dragonball Z

I noticed an odd thing that a lot of downs syndrome people are into some of these things too. Especially WWE.
I'd put MLP down one level, and put WWE into a whole different classification independent of autism. It's more just dumb.

It helped make Sega “Cooler” at the time. Sega had a darker tone and image than Nintendo which even then was more associated with cutesy graphics and games.

Sega Megadrive/Genesis versions of street fighter 2 and mortal combat tended to have less of the blood and violence removed, so Sega was seen as the edgier bad boy of consoles.

Autists who are often shut ins might horribly misunderstand and think that liking sonic demonstrates that they are cool and bad-ass.

I think you may be mixing up vidya shit with the licensed comics where the one writer made an extremely elaborate Knuckles family tree to show how Knuckles being in a romantic relationship with a comics only character that they revealed was actually a distant relative wasn't actually incest. The only other Hedgehogs in the Sonic games are Amy, Shadow, and Silver (pothead). I don't think that really qualifies as an MCU.
I mean you could technically count Metal sonic and the 3 different Mecha Sonics as "hedgehogs" but they're robots made specifically to beat sonic's blue ass by mocking his appearance, basically "I'm you but better" type of behavior.

Speaking of the robots made to look like sonic There's a weird amount of video essays these past few years claiming how "scary" or "dark" and "cold" they are when I vividly remember back in the day when they were new people would just gush about how fucking cool they were as video game enemy. I am 100% convinced internet sonic autists played a hand in metal sonic in the games going characterization wise from a funny mostly silent little cooldude shitbag of an evil robot that left holograms of himself messing with little animals to taunt you and was literally introduced as "mr. steal yo girl" to basically a cannon fodder emotionless drone. Shit's a lot less fun than "he's basically sonic but mostly silent and more of a dick" but then his original characterization would probably get in the way of the countless spinoff characters that try to do the same thing.

I would put Game Shows into High Functioning Autism as well. You would think it would be only old people who are interested in game shows but the amount of autism that exists in the Game Show community is a whole different community on its own. With how long Game Shows have been on the air and shows that have been on for decades the amount of autism can just flow with set designs, hosts, gameplay elements, games, all sorts of different things that its amazing, and there are a few notable lolcows that exist in it as well, like Game Show Garbage and BuzzerBlog, who have spent the last 15 years documenting every game show in history and all sorts of news about it.

I mean there was the entire running bit in rainman where he quoted gameshows lmao.

I'm autistic and I loved Sonic as a kid. I can't even begin to explain it but I was obsessed until aged 13 with Sonic, very embarrassing 🤭
Knuckles was my favourite, Shadow was just 2edgy4me. And I wanted to fuck Amy Rose so bad
You don't fuckle with knuckles.

Don't we get this thread like every month, dude? You're gonna get the same answers as the last time.

Sonic's design is about 80% of it. He's extremely recognizable from silhouette and follows the golden ratio perfectly. Naoto Oshima struck gold with the general design language of Sonic characters. Add some primary colors and you got yourself a sale.
The other 20% is Sonic's gameplay, which is very fluid and conducive to speedrunning and casual fun.

Now can this please be the last goddamn time I see this thread? Did you really think nobody here had thought about it before?

You forgot about Knuckles from the smash hit Duology of Sonic3&Knuckles.

Funny you should bring this up, since Sonic The Hedgehog was probably one of the first video games designed around speedrunning. Even before speedrunning was a thing.
Yuji Naka used to try to complete Super Mario Bros as fast as possible. He would just play the game over and over again trying to get the fastest competion time. Similar to modern speedrunners. This gave him the idea to make Sonic The Hedgehog a game designed around speedrunning and completing it as fast as possible.

Sonic The Hedgehog was literally a game designed by autists for autists.

There was also that guy on The Price is Right during the Drew Carey era who nailed the final price in the Showcase Showdown to the dollar. That's next level tism.

You're on Kiwi Farms, of course you are autistic. And you might want to powerlevel a bit less about wanting to fuck vidya characters.

you know when I was a small kid I was really into sonic, I'd watch the cartoon reruns on disney, owned the movie on video and we had the games and I'd get a new one when it came out. I also every month at the grocery store would buy the Archie comic book and read it from like age 4-10ish religiously. however I thank god every day it didn't turn me into a furry. I distinctly remember accidentally stumbling upon some sexual fan art on Google in like 2001/2 or something and was like well, that's fucked up cartoon characters don't sex that can't be real, and never gave it another thought. in the last 15 or so years I go back to that moment every now and then and just think wow, I sure am glad I reacted like that and didn't grow up to be a freak. retarded? Yes, but not a degenerate.

OK, probably showing my age here, but what the fuck is a Beyblade?
Spinning tops board game where you put them in a bowl till one either stops spinning or gets knocked out. Originally they were model kits you had to snap and screw together but every reboot afterwards thats come out the last decade has been pre-assembled toys but kept the same customization aspect to some extent with the ability for swapping out parts. Basically just a more complex form of "fighting tops" or "beigoma" if you know what those games are.

God I know the feeling lmao. back in the 90s/early 2000s me and another kid I knew used to gettogether and just watch the sonic anime movie on VHS constantly that shit was the coolest fucking thing to us. A good number of years later I eneded up kinda going back to it after finding out ti was in like some weird legal limbo that let people upload the thing in full to youtube in HD and I kinda gained a bit more appreciation for it because of how smooth the fucking animation is for something that was probably on a tv budget. (it was literally meant to be a 2 part pilot to a longer sonic anime that never got made from what I remember finding out like a decade ago)
