Because tolerance breeds intolerance, I suppose.
The fierce push towards individualism has destroyed all sense of community in the United States. No one goes to church. People move away from their hometown to go to college. No one has kids, so no one has joined the PTA, which is sort of a first push into local politics that breeds a sense of civic pride that might lead a younger person to run for public office like mayor or House rep.
With no sense of community, there is no sense of duty. And with no religion, there is no reason to avoid hedonism.
I had this discussion with my dad a few months ago. There is no one out there publicly encouraging women to get married and have kids. But there is plenty of public encouragement for women to go to college and become CEOs. My dad replied that "well, you don't need religion to tell you how to behave" and I brought up everything that the new generation has been dealing with. Single motherhood just keeps going up. We have a million abortions per year. School shootings are going up. Marriage rates have plummeted. Child birth is on the decline. And people have been marching in the street for months with no one stopping them.
I don't necessarily think the government should be involved in morality. But there definitely needs to be a stronger sense of public shaming and morality than there is now. Because furries walk free in public. Because Jeffrey Epstein got six months of house arrest for fucking little girls. Because women free bleed as a sign of protest. We have gone too far in the other direction and we need some strict guidance from someone to get us back on track.
