Why is rape even a common crime?

Women have not been properly encouraged to exercise their second amendment rights.

Rape is classified as a forcible felony, meaning lethal force is justified in self defense. If it became the norm that women were armed then rapes would decline.
Oh come on now. The real answer is to teach men not to rape.

Societal codependency is always the answer.

I think this is a big part of it. On top of that girls are encouraged to put up with unwanted attention and consider it flattering (thankfully this is changing), people in general in most cultures are taught to not make a scene, and not react with violence when threatened with violence. If women were raised being taught to defend themselves and how to defend themselves effectively there would be less rape.

Well sometimes one person wants to have sex with another person. Happens all the time.
Slightly less often, the other person does not want to have sex with the first person.

It just turns out that, occasionally, the sex happens anyway.

Even bringing up masturbation to discuss this is a tell you've never been inside a woman, because it's not remotely comparable.
Rape happens because dudes get horny and women are physically weak.

Rape is usually about power and control more than lust. Fuck that bitch for not smiling at you when she should have, or for pretending to ignore you while you follow her down the street. She's obviously a slut and should be taught a lesson.
This is actually a common misconception from feminist theory. You’ll hear it stated very often; rape is about power, about showing dominance, about putting women in their place, et cetera, like there’s some secret society out there of men who rape women to keep them in line, like Keisuke Iwasaki from Rapeman or something. This is actually not the case. Like, at all. If you survey rapists and ask them why they rape, the weird sadistic dom guys who just want to smush and spank a woman are a teeny tiny minority of all rapists. The vast majority had no actual motives beyond wanting sex.

This is not even an exaggeration. I mean this literally. 9% of rapists are actively hostile toward women, and the other 91% don’t even think of women as people at all and just see a hole to fuck.

The misconception comes from the fact that feminists only acknowledge the existence of white rapists. All the impulsive 60-90 IQ blacks, hispanics and muslims are ignored because they're viewed as too stupid to be held accountable for their actions, or because of socioeconomic factors, or it's their culture; ironically, treating them like responsible grown adult human beings is considered racist -- which further emboldens them since there are rarely consequences for their actions. Only white men are allowed to be criticized, and white men are by-and-large capable of resisting the urge to ruin their fucking lives for an orgasm, at least moreso than other races, so the few who do go through with raping somebody frequently have something else wrong with them.
