I changed the sheets yesterday, early in the morning, fresh, clean sheets.
I noticed a small bump on the wall next to my bed, about the size of a grape. I'd never realized it was there before. I lightly knocked on it with my knuckles out of curiosity, it produced the same sound as knocking on other parts of the wall. I had expected it to sound hollow.
The morning went by in a bit of a slog as I showered, had breakfast and did chores around the house. I watered my plants and I noticed similar bumps on some of the clay pots, only about 1/3 of the size. Out of curiosity, I pressed them, expecting them to cave in, for some reason, but they didn't. My plants looked as healthy as ever, so I didn't think much of it. If you have the same plant in a clay pot for a long time, sometimes deformities can appear. I just hadn't noticed before.
Later on at noon I had lunch with a friend and when I returned home I felt incredibly sluggish, which is rare. I hadn't done anything particularly tiring, and our meal had been light. I said hi to the cats and went upstairs to bed. As I climbed the stairs I felt more and more tired, as if I were waddling through a warm, muddy swamp. I flopped onto my bed and fell asleep.
I woke up in a bad mood, and my mood didn't improve when I realized I had lost the better part of the day. I think I must have slept for about 4 or 5 hours. I was still in bed, regretting my nap, hot, sweaty and fully clothed, looking at the wall, trying to think of what to do in order to not waste the little daylight I had left. I remembered the bump I saw in the morning, but it wasn't there anymore. I looked all around the wall, but it just wasn't there. I got up and went to see my plants, and there weren't any bumps in any of the clay pots either.
I didn't know what to make of it, but I was still pretty drowsy from my untimely nap. I decided to take some work outside with me, since the weather was quite nice and I'm trying to get as much vitamin D from the Sun as possible. So I grabbed my laptop and went out for a few hours. I settled down in the grass next to a stream that runs through my city, it was quite pleasant.
Anyway, I got back, had dinner, still not tired enough to go to sleep after my nap, but I decided to go to bed anyway and read until I felt sleepy. I took off my clothes and got in bed, and I felt this gritty sensation in my legs, as if someone had sprinkled sand under my sheets. I had just changed them that morning! I checked and it was indeed sand, not much of it, but enough to be very annoying. I had to change my sheets again, but I have no clue how that sand got in there. Yeah, I had slept with clothes on on top of my bedding, but I didn't get anywhere near sand, and
I always close the door to my bedroom when I'm away because I don't want the cats to mess up the plants I have in there. They're almost always in the garden anyway, and there's not really any sand in there either. There's dirt (although one of the cats has thankfully stopped the habit of digging around the rosemary), but not the kind of grey sand I had on my sheets.
Why did I have sand in there?
