Nuclear energy has come a long way, and is actually safer than a lot of options nowadays. The waste isn't even a problem anymore as they've developed a system to store it so deep underground that it doesn't effect the upper crust.

Even if we can safely dispose of the waste, what about the fuel? U-235 is basically a fossil fuel like oil and won't last forever.
