Why can't characters just be actual characters instead of just identities on a checklist? The whole "diversity by tokenism" is just idiotic, and is kind of how GamerGate became the retarded online slapfight it was in the first place.

Just make a good game that's fun to play and isn't pretentious, preachy, and intentionally ugly and insulting to its own intended audience. Is that really too much to ask for the gaming industry these days?

Because these people have no empathy. If they don't see exactly themselves in every type of media, they can't understand it at all.

How hard is it to understand that a character's sexual identity alone does not make them a character. it's like saying someone should be judged solely for the color of their skin.

Because they need constant unending validation by media, because deep down inside they realize they've made the wrong choices in their lives.

They need a machine to constantly promote their choices and lifestyle or else they will have no haven but themselves to fall back into.

They can't live with themselves, they also don't want to face the consequences either.

So anything that can have them use social media to try and bandage their choices makes them feel better because they think for every post of positivity they are one step closer to finally being able to run away from themselves.

I can get behind whatever as it doesn't really affect me irl, but the fact that they're slowly inching towards the MAP movement just seems self-destructive.
I mean, they do realize that noone's protecting them if they decide to support pedophilia, right? At best, they'd be a social pariah and at worst, get killed by a vigilante.

I just love the hypocrisy of intersectional feminism. Ortiz is a guy, that's why he's in a big esport organization. Real female players are in female-only organizations where the rule is: "Who cares who won? Here, have some money and expensive gifts. You go girl!", they never play in the normal tournaments because they don't have the level. The esports players who become trannies only do it because they're shit in normal esports so they get access to female-only tournaments and get easy win by being physically superior.

The "Gamer" demographic consists of straight white/black/latino men. They don't care about nor want gays in their games, and they don't want 'le noble negro'. Hell I worked at a summer camp for blacks and all they had in common with each other is a ove of fucking Anime and wanted more of thst shit. if you want more blacks in gaming give them a One Piece game.

Every attempt at new IPs that contain that kind of representation induces whining because "noone knows what it is" and then the quality of the production falls off a cliff due to mediocre writing and production values. I mean can you name a single new LGBT+ superhero from the last 10-20 years. Not someone that exists and comes out of the closet, but an actual published character in a mainstream book. The only ones that exist are Hulkling and Wiccan, who don't get much attention outside of Young Avengers books because their "coming out as gay" arc was done and you just don't hear SJWs crow about them for some reason. Noone talks about Angela, Northstar, etc. because they either haven't had appearances in mainstream comics or haven't been able to stand on their own for more than 5-10 issues. The difference here is that a comic costs like 2-3 bucks. a video game costs a hell of a lot more.

In terms of video game representation, you get flavor text and some other tossed in shit. There's no writing for LGBT characters in jrpgs that doesn't involve tropes of some sort. The one thing they could do is add lgbt representation in some mainline western game, but we've seen how fucked TLOU2 got. Nintendo had some odd representation here and there, but the only one that's stuck out without being an embarrassment was fucking Birdo of all things.

TLDR unless it has dazzlingly competent writing and production value, an IP centered around containing this kind of representation won't work. ValiDate is set to be a disaster if/when it releases. Dream Daddy was hyped to no avail. What else do you expect from this?

I dunno. I don't play anime games. Last game I played was destroy all humans remake. Which did have gays and blacks in it. Last 'animu' game i played was a Naruto fighting one at the camp where I worked.
