Will some fast food chains become the next Blockbuster?

Mcgoy's is trash. I can go to any grocery store and buy 2lbs of nuggets for the same price of a 10er there. Same with Burger King and Wendy's. Haven't eaten there in years. The only fast food place I would willfully go to is Chick Fil A. By far the cleanest establishment I've ever been to regardless of location and I don't feel gross after eating it. But then again I only eat there maybe twice a year if ever.
Would rather spend my money at local Pizza shop or American Diner.

tbh all fast food these days are expensive as fuck, and tbh I only go to mc donalds still because I still get my employee discount from when I worked there as a kid (I still know the owner)

It was acceptable years ago to buy McDonald's trashy food at a low price, so what do they think the incentive is now? Buy overpriced trash? Nah.

Exactly, I really only go when I have no other choice such as road trips or when I move.

It's simply not normal that a shitty, cold and soggy Big Mac menu, where at least half of the weight of the burger is disgusting days old lettuce, costs twice as much as a big döner that has actual meat, vegatables and fries inside alongside a big soft drink. And this is only the small Big Mac menu, you have to pay extra for a larger menu and a sauce.
Western fast food chains are the biggest scam in my country, yet retards are still piling up on the drive through, waiting at least 20 minutes for this shit when there are good and locally owned döner shops next to every McDonald's. Hell, for the price of a big Big Mac menu you can actually eat proper food and have a beer at a somewhat decent restaurant.

I miss the older interior design. Now they've gone "corporate hipster" like seemingly all other fast food chains.

Back in the day, fast food restaurants had unique looks. Now, they pretty much look the same: like office spaces.
Among other things, and referring specifically to outside architecture (not furnishings), they did this to preserve the resale value. It turned out that distinctive architecture made trouble for future building owners.

The unique thing about Subway among other modern fast food restaurants is that they were 100% franchised. I honestly think that corporate has no real idea how to run a restaurant or what consumers want
I don’t know if it still is, but that’s how KFC was, they pioneered it first….

The other day, I was in a rush and not really fussy about food. There’s a Burger King on my way somewhere, so I stopped in for a quick bite. The drive-thru had a couple of cars ahead of me, and the counter was empty inside. I ordered two bacon cheeseburgers and fries, split between me and my friend.

Then? Pure chaos. Four or five employees were slouched behind the counter, like they were on break from a lazy Sunday. For 25 minutes, while I waited, I watched DoorDashers stroll in, ask for orders, and leave. Every time they left, the staff would slowly meander around, mutter about “wrong orders,” and shuffle food around like it was a game of hot potato played in slow motion. They’d glance at the screens above the counter, confused, argue briefly over each order, and then… nothing. A few times a DoorDasher came in and complained about some wrong item and were told to stay put while they remade the order. I swear, a single motivated employee could have easily outpaced these five. It was ambiguous if one of them was some kind of shift leader or manager, but despite all the mess there was no urgency at all.

It was 6:30 PM, and there were only a few customers trickle in every few minutes. I finally got my burgers and fries (cold, by the way) and no apology or acknowledgement of the wait, just a half-hearted drop-off of my food. The receipt had a feedback request, so I wrote an ugly review online, asked to hear back, and that was it. A week or two later, still no reply.

My expectations were already to the floor. I figured for $5 more, I’d get a decent burger. But Five Guys could’ve made my order three times faster. BK isn’t even cheaper anymore, and the quality? Worse. If they can’t handle basic orders when there’s not a crowd, what’s the point? They’re not cheap, not great, and definitely not fast. I’m done.

Burger King was never a paragon of excellence but they have managed to void my already amazingly low expectations. America can't even do our slop right anymore. What happens to the empire when even the bread and circuses don't work anymore?

I feel like it's already happening to Subway over at where I am, though it's less because of decreasing quality and more because of obnoxiously high prices to justify that level of quality (and also 𝕮𝖔𝖗𝖔𝖓𝖆). Not a single joint remains the entire country remains operational, bar a couple.

Subways have become associated with jeets, which is a kiss of death. I imagine it has something to do with it being easy to obtain a franchise and oversaturation of the brand.

Years ago, an inroad that Subway had was that they were open late. I remember going to Subway to spend half my paycheque on a footlong after finishing my shift at 1 am working at another shitty fastfood chain.

But now Subway is closed by 10-11 pm just like everything else in the post-COVID era.

It will be kek if people's repulsion of jeets handling their lunchmeat sinks the franchise instead of their spokesman turning out to be a kiddy diddler.

Funny you mention that - our few Subways aren't jeet-infested yet. Our only Vapiano restaurant, on the other hand...

Just a reminder that Subway got in trouble for the five dollar foot long when it was shown to not actually be a foot long to which their people used some shit excuse that theres a foot long and a "foot long" saying that "foot long" is a slang term for a specific variety of sandwich along with sub, grinder, hoagie etc.
That out of the way to the burgers here how much is a whopper meal from Burger King run you, just the default size and no cheese.

The Vfws and legion posts are better eating AND they write checks out to the community. plus there is gambling too! 15 bucks gets a good hamburger, beer and a side.

Earliest KFCs weren't actually KFCs, it was a franchised menu, so you could have "Xarpho's Diner featuring Kentucky Fried Chicken" as a menu item. Some of these old franchised places lasted into the 1990s...the last Kenny King's closed in 1996 in Cleveland, which was a full-service diner-style restaurant that had the full KFC menu.

McDonalds has a core customer base of autistic children of poverty experience that refuse to eat anything else. I think they are causing autism for profit, creating an army of fat absolute spergs that only feed on McNuggets.

"I bought and ate mcdonalds when it was the cheapest thing around, now i pay double for half as much!"
Fast food has always been the last, "final solution" to my hunger problem on the road.
Literally anything is better.
Fuck, "fast food" isnt even fast food anymore, you need to wait like 10-15 mins.
