I saw a great thread ranking gaming influencers based on whether they are grifters. I want to start a list based on whether you should watch them as a gamer (someone who truly cares about video games and wants to be more informed about them). Since most gaming influencers are shills, it's quite hard to find an honest one to suit your taste.

Do Not Watch: Influencers in this category constantly shill for video games. They don't do their research. They promote woke propaganda in gaming. They grift based on current public opinion. Essentially, they are game journalist or grifter tier.

Flawed: Influencers in this category have strong principles. They know what they're talking about in their reviews. They’ve played the game and aren’t afraid to share their personal opinions, even if it leads to significant backlash. However, they are flawed, perhaps due to poor editing, annoying ramblings, accents that are hard to understand, or character traits that affect the quality of their videos, such as coomerism, political sperging, or doomerism. However, if the flaws are too significant to ignore, as with Jim Sterling, they should be placed in the "Do Not Watch" category.

Good: Influencers who focus solely on the game itself produce high-quality content with well-reasoned arguments backing their opinions. Not every video essay is good, but I consider them good only if they are on the same tier as Matthewmatosis. Warning: Some of them can be boring as a result; without noticeable flaws, they may lack flavor.

This is a work-in-progress list. Obviously, I don't know every single noteworthy influencer, so please provide the influencer name, a short description, why you should or shouldn't watch them, or why they are flawed, and include an example to support your claim. I will update the list over time.

Bro are you using fucking light theme? Black text? Jesus :cryblood:

I think you might want to define exactly what qualifies as a "gaming influencer" for this thread, though. Like, for example, I just had a video by TehSnakerer on for background noise and even though he's more of a video essayist, his primary topic is video games. E;R also doesn't really do videogame-related content, he's a movie critic. At a glance I see maybe 1 major video of his covering a walking sim/VN (Life is Strange) and one meme about Bernie Sanders and Deus Ex. I'm sure that, if people actually understand what creators are supposed to go on the list, you'll find a bunch of posts wanting to add to it.

Good ones I'd say majuular, pelvic gaming, and kbash because they each have detailed well rounded opinions and never go into woke shit territory. They never dissuade you from playing something or tell you to avoid ____ company/games because of this or that. Plus none of them are pozzed or have skeletons in their closet.

I used to love callmekevin but caving in and turning comments off of his Hogwarts Legacy video was not cool. I guess he would go on flawed because he still makes quality content otherwise .

Good thread. I am busy IRL right now so I was barely able to update my thread. I like it since it doesnt only contain grifters and scum, but also more positive youtubers. You can use the info from my thread.
I would also add Rev Says Desu to red list, though he is only lolicon/anime obsessed.

Manlybadasshero

he only plays horror games with weird ASMR-esque calm voice
and been consistent with that image for 4-5 years.. and doesnt mix politics.

meanwhile JackSepticEye is his polar opposite.
Horror games with loud screaming, and goes into politic tirades

Good to see Worth A Buy in the Do Not Watch category. He always seems to get a pass for some reason.

Skill Up
I could be wrong as I've not watched in a while, and I'm going off of old memories. Should be in the Do Not Watch category. Failing that, at least flawed. He has the knickname "shill up" for a reason. He will be buddy buddy with devs and will shill games unless popular opinion is against it. eg. Shilling Warframe despite getting hundreds if not thousands of pounds worth of paid content and progression, and having coffee with the devs.

Crowbcat
Should be in "flawed" due to audience capture, or shilling, depending on your point of view. eg. Selectively showing the good details of Far Cry 2, but none of the respawning enemies sniping you though heavy jungle. Deleting a video about VR because of audience backlash.
