Wizardchan Admin FAQ

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
How does one get banned from WC,
Say some bitch goes there with a picture of boobs and does something like "OMG I'm a girl and y'all is loserzzzzzzz [add more z if you desire] get a life get laid I has sex u totes jelly?"
Would you ban this person, and if so how? You can't really give a warning since the person stays anonymous, would you just IP block or something.

Yes. It's a pretty simple process but can get quite intricate if need be. I have many tools as to pick from. As I said earlier on
"We strictly shape and enforce our rules throughout the site by means of moderation, report functionality, deletion logs, mod logs to keep tabs on mods, range bans, the whole nine yards."

A lot of it is integration that has been added to the Tinyboard configuration. But you can find a lot of these methods used on other various sites. I'm sure the CWCki backend has many similar options for moderation at their disposal besides simply banning accounts. Probably just don't have to use them as often.

I'm relatively new to the topic of Wizardchan but over the past few days I've been reading what I can and going over the threads here and there as well. Honestly I, like most people I assume, jumped straight into lumping all the users together and labeling them...well, pick any term you want. None of them good. I went a little deeper and I saw that a lot of the things that made me really say to myself, "I can not BELIEVE they think x" is instantly countered by another user with a much more level-headed opinion. I'm actually really pleasantly surprised to read and see here that the core of the community is not based on throwing a fit about being a virgin. So I have a few questions, pardon me if I've missed something and they've already been covered:

I've seen a few posters who are actually proud of their Wizardhood and want to stay a Wizard (or virgin, however you put it) out of choice since joining the forums. I considered that maybe it's out of a sense of community, maybe because they're just saying that to give themselves something to hold on to, maybe they're just someone trying to stir up shit for no reason. Either way, how common is that? And do you really see a lot of users who are that interwoven into the community that it seems to be their only solace? Perhaps even bettering their life/lifestyle if just for having somewhere to be?

Also, you mentioned Wizards befriending one another off site. Does this happen frequently? (If you know about it, that is.)

Solid questions Metagross (ya friggin Gen 3 dual-type ricer pokemon you). Let me start with the fact that all users do not choose to be virgin. Okay a small portion will deny this and claim "I'm beyond such trivial desires, real wizards don't fall for that" or something to that effect. And I don't deny that they have been able to prioritize other parts of their life, without a doubt some have been able to just move on and accept things. It's just pretentious to think that it makes one a 'better wizard' or suggest that those that still desire gf or sex are someone lesser. So in effect, that ability to move on and accept virgin status is real, just exaggerated at times because of what I explained earlier. I personally am at the point where I just don't care about it one way or another, but I don't think it is inherently a good or bad thing.

I'd rather just discuss other areas of interest when I'm on WC than focus on mere virginity status so it doesn't become this self-perpetuating topic where people come to Wizardchan to avoid being criticized for being a virgin, yet still continue talking and focusing on that aspect of their life. It doesn't help much where its on your mind constantly. Hope that gives some insight.

And yes, I think the site can help people better themselves if they use it correctly. As I stated earlier, if you are ONLY using /v9k/ and every single post you make is about how angry you are at non-virgins and focusing on your on virginity. Well that isn't going to help much. /v9k/ is important to the site and is a great place to vent. But it should be used in combination with the other boards to really benefit from the community and find some solace as you mentioned.

Also, you mentioned Wizards befriending one another off site. Does this happen frequently? (If you know about it, that is.)

I don't know how often, which is how it should be really. The Mumble is dead (which I have never supported since day 1), but our IRC is active and I enjoy that. But site rules still apply as always and is under administrative control. What users do that I cannot in order to contact each other is out of my control. But exchanging information publicly is not allowed.

With all due respect, I think the question was directed more at your feelings towards the community response to it, specifically the minimization of human lives to "chads and whores" based on really shallow assumptions and (judging by the 'more happiness' part of that post) jealousy. If I'm not mistaken, the post you linked to seems to discuss your feelings on the incident itself rather than your feelings on your community's feelings on it.

Gotcha. Well if you take a look at the /v9k/ thread that JULAY linked, there are very few posters who actually agree with the OP. The replies in that thread are not praising what was done at all. Sure there are some posts in there like the one that has an updated version of the old "shooter high-score" chart that jokes about rating how effective each mass shooter has been. This is nothing new. That image has been thrown around a ton, every imageboard does this and by no means does it reflect how the users feel about the incident.

The posts that are more serious in that thread lean more towards explaining why Elliot's motives were poor and distancing themselves from him. Here is one post from it which gives a more popular community opinion:

"Those of you having sympathy for this guy, get the fuck out. He was a narcissistic asshole and valued only the most 10/10 women because that's how he saw himself, he was also extraordinarily rich and went to exquisite parties."

I'm not denying there aren't a select few who do sympathize with him (who realistically probably don't, and are only trying to be edgy)
I like keeping user's post history private for the sake of anonymity. But I can tell you the OP of that thread who was acting edgy....just started posting to WC that day. I think you see what I'm getting at.

pro-Elliot posts will die off at the same time as the general traffic increase will.

May I like to know the history of Wizardchan? Apparently I read somewhere that the founder of Wizardchan was a succubi and the admin, copypaste got laid. I'd like to know more.

I'll see if I can make a condensed WizardChan history lesson. I have no clue where you got the idea that the founder was a girl, even the ED article didn't miss the mark that badly. The ED Wizardchan article is about 75% accurate as far as the history section goes, so that will give you a solid start actually.

Original founder was a partnership between two guys. One who was more in charge of moderation and one who was more in charge of coding. Keivi and Mr.Pacific respectively. (name Keivi is a play on the acronym KV = Kissless Virgin). Keivi had the original idea and held the position for err, at least a year. After being a trustwurthy mod for a while, Copypaste was promoted to admin to replace combo of Keivi+Mr.Pacific seeing as he could serve as both the coder as well as being the head of moderation.
Keivi more or less stepped down due to emotional and mental instability. He got progressively worse the longer he ran the site and his paranoia and insanity caused him to tighten rules to the point where users were being banned based on blind hunches and impulsive outbursts of autism.
Mr.Pacific still lurks around and is sane, his leaving was more out of just needing a break. (As of recent he may have a bf, still virgin tho, RIP Mr.Pacific :heart-empty:) Overall nice guy though.
He just likes ducks and yiffers.

So Copypaste was the sole admin and ran the site for a touch over a full year before his little incident. Incident itself is well documented. Best read might be the IRC log from his banning and when he handed the site over to me:

I was co-admin at the time, and I suspect he saw the incident coming maybe a month before it happened which is why he promoted me. But yeah after a literal whore fucked him, stole all the money in his bank account, and trashed his apartment, he finally cut her off. Good riddance. Copypaste might be exiled from the site, and it may have been a HORRIBLE decision in the first place to let a homeless drug addicted girl with a virgin fetish live with you for two months...but he never deserved that amount of shit that happened to him. No one does. I still blame the girl more than him, as she took complete advantage of his situation and handicapped condition to completely suck him dry and proceed to have wild orgies in his apartment with no objections. Copy just didn't know any better.

As of now, we have readopted the partnership idea that the original Archwizard duo used. So I have my mate 'The Proprietor' who handles more coding than I do while I oversee all the mods and rule-related responsibilities. I feel as if this split in responsibility makes the site as a whole a lot stronger and cuts back on chances of corruption.

That's a fairly brief history with a bit of my view on the incident tacked on. Hope that suffices. I'd be happy to elaborate on any part you'd like to hear more on.
Oh and this September marks my first full year as Admin. Well August if you count co-admin. IRC party with wizardly NEET treats for all!

I bet everybody here would like to know what happened to Bear after he attacked copypaste so nastily for betraying his wizardly vows and getting laid.

Shit sucks.

I have a couple of questions regarding some of the more technical aspects of your website.

I've been trying to run Tinyboard imageboard, but I keep having a lot of problems. It seems that I cannot change any of the settings within mod.php and posts don't show up immediately unless you're in that panel. I've tried running the vichan configuration which is supposed to "work out of the box", yet I still have the same problems. Are you aware of anything like this? I think it might have something to do with the cache.

It's just frustrating because Kusaba X works perfectly fine despite all its security flaws. Users were able to upload stuff without the long delays of their post showing up.

Who do you use for hosting and what plan does your website use? How much does it cost?

One more question, if someone uploads CP. Could you be held legally liable for that?

Thank you.
