Women's March - The feminist rally stacked with Islamists, Rapists, and other questionable people

So is there another rally planned for next year? I think it’s time we had an annual lolcow parade.

Did the annoying smelly drum circle get larger?

A drum circle is pretty much the ultimate symbol of how fucking useless Occupy was.

"Empathy" is just another word that people think can win them arguments, sort of like the Konami code.

Any time I hear "empathy" from some screaming, hate-filled asshole, it just reminds me of Chris, another person who throws the word around a lot despite literally having a broken brain that can't even do it.

Every damn time some drum circle shows up. Every time.

Why This Black Girl Will Not Be Returning To The Women’s March

"This has always been my problem with traditional feminism. Its lack of intersectionality is exclusionary. When feminists proclaim “women’s rights are human rights” it feels more like they mean “white women’s rights are human rights.” I am a black woman, and I will not be made to choose between my womanhood and blackness. So while white women can choose to ignore racism and systemic oppression, I cannot. My very survival is dependent on confronting these issues head on."

Identity politics continues to be zero-sum.

So instead of joining in, and bringing in more minorities, you boycott it, thus making it MORE white?

So what you're telling me is that she sat at home during the Jim Crowe era and during Vietnam War. She sat at home during the civil rights stuff that happened, said nothing about segregation... but Trump being president is what got her off her ass to protest?

Gotta love that privilege!

She'd be exactly the right age around the Vietnam War, too. (Probably too young during the whole Jim Crow era) Not to mention Roe v. Wade, the ERA, the Iraq War, the nuclear arms race, etc.

I mean, I've made no secret here that I absolutely loathe Trump, but at the same time, I think people need to get their priorities straight.

It’s a symptom of how envy has taken over politics, particularly on social media. It obsesses about how other groups have what you don’t, no matter how similar you may be to that other group or how closely aligned your goals are. What helps one group is thought inevitably to harm another; what benefits them must hurt me. This is politically ruinous, since it means walling yourself off into identity groups that are further and further balkanized and discouraging any sort of cooperation. Each group is focused on its own identity, its own victimization which it set up in competition with others' claims of victim status, and in response to which it demanded recognition and concessions from the organization. The center cannot hold in response to being pulled in so many direction.

For example, how many supporters of Bernie Sanders stayed home on election day? Probably enough to change the outcome if they showed up to vote. They felt rejected by the Clinton camp, who did little to invite them into the fold. “You get nothing, you fucking evil misogynist, now vote for me or else,” is not a particularly persuasive argument to get people onto your side.

The focus on personal identity also produces a type of narcissism. Politics becomes more about the assertion of your own identity, and not about responsibility to others. The narcissist’s self-esteem cannot abide the existence of things that are not itself, so it must destroy them. Rather than accomplishing social change, the group becomes focused more on therapy and obsession over their own problems. Additionally, the strong emphasis on the group loyalty characteristic of identity politics creates exaggerated emotional dependence on the group and consequently enormous pressure towards conformity and away from dissenting or independent thought. Again, this makes it impossible to form any kind of coalition that would challenge the status quo.

The people that REEEE the loudest tend to sit on their asses and do nothing anyway. All bark no bite. she sat around not protesting, not raising awareness. And now Trump is in office and her old ass finally got up to say something? No fan of Trump either. But far far worse things have happened in this country. And at 73 she lived through so many of them.
