not even 5 minutes in and both teams have scored in Switzerland-Denmark. Amazing.

Yet another penalty shootout is coming up! Today is the day of boring full times and dramatic endings.

EDIT: Croatia won!

And Croatia go through on penalties.

I didn't watch the game, just clicked the BBC live text stream every few mins. By all accounts it was boring AF.

I thought Croatia were meant to be one of the better sides at this cup, so what was all that snorefest about?

Denmark played well tonight. Shut down the Croatian attack and their goalie did a massive job in saving several dangerous shots.

Anyway, tomorrow's games:
Brazil-Mexico

Belgium-Japan

Mexico choked fairly well against Sweden and though this isn't a top tier Brazilian side this cup, they should still have a better chance at winning. I guess people will say Mexico showed class against Germany, but we all know how tired and poor the latter were so that doesn't tell us much about Mexico's gameplan.

I want Japan to win, but Belgium is a strong side with absolutely class players. If Belgium can't get through Japan's defences, I can see the latter trying to force the game to overtime and penalties. But I find that unlikely to happen.

How the hell did that Danish defender not get a red card when causing the penalty late in overtime (that Modric subsequently went on to miss)!?

Not that it would have mattered much, and especially won't now since Denmark didn't advance, but has there ever been a more clear case of a red card due to stopping a player with a free path to the goal (and within the penalty box as well)?

I believe per both bookies and data simulations and the like that Japan is considered the one least likely to win of all the remaining teams, however this world cup is full of surprises.

Japan is gonna choke and as much as I like based Mexico they're choking as well. They may have beaten (a terrible version of) Germany (seriously fuck off Özil you sucked go back to goatfuckland with your beloved Erd*gan you fucking turkUSER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST), but they got absolutely BTFO'd by Sweden so I doubt they can make it to quarter finals.

This result was one hell of a letdown. Russia got lucky with their brick wall defense. Simple as that - Spain should have wiped the floor with Vladimir's cronies, honestly. Farewell, Spaniards; maybe next time, even if I ain't your biggest fan, you were robbed here. Robbed as all get out.

Both teams scored 1 goal. However Spain was supposed to win and Russia is obviously the lesser team. They just got lucky.

Do you ever come back to the posts you made and re-read them to check to see if you sound rеtarded?

Yeah - I understandingly noticed I typed that shit out in a bit of a hurry, ya jackass - Spain got robbed via penalties, is what I meant to say. But letting Russia equalize with them and not fighting back better was their downfall, honestly. It should have never went on that long. Speaking of games that never should have went on that long...

Croatia 1 - 1 Denmark
It's a damn shame both teams scored upon each other so amazingly early here (fastest score and the equalizer time out of all the games so far here, too); the rest of this match was just pretty boring... As happy as I otherwise am to see Croatia go through, they're gonna have to play much harder than this in the quarter-finals, no questions asked.

Come on Brazil...send the beaners home and have fun doing it. I want it to be 7-0 like Chile did to them in the 2016 Copa America.

I'm not counting on that result - but yeah. Mexico is done here.
Hopefully, someone else can beat Brazil for me.

EDIT: Brazil 2 - 0 Mexico

Like I said, if a more capable team can give Brazil some Hell, do it. Please and Thank you.

Belgium and France should give them enough if they get through their matches

Japan are destroying Belgium 2-0.

Every big team not named Brazil are really fucking up right now, if France fails too this is like match fixing levels of craziness

Japan managed to score and go 1 - 0 ahead!

Edit:
Now 2 - 0!

Ganbare, Yamato!

EDIT: And Nacer Chadli saves Belgium with a winning goal in injury time.

I have to say, I thought the Japanese were going to squeak it. They just never give up. They just kept going and going and going even when the Belgians clawed they way back from 2-0 behind. An ENGERLUND team in that situation would probably have slacked off and phoned in the last half of the game and lost exceptionally in a SHAMEFUR DISPRAY but not this team.
