World of Warcraft Rank 1 Player Reckful Commits Suicide

So he asked her to marry him then killed himself?

Did she turn him down? Or did people troll in response? The later tweets call her his ex-girlfriend, is that references to his death, or had they broken up already?

Did he just realize how cringe his asking her to marry him over twitter was and that pushed him over the edge? Is this the first confirmed instance of terminal cringe?
Even though I don’t have the full story, o can take a guess based off of the bipolar diagnosis. He was probably having a mixed episode (so that’s and up and down at the same time aka Hell) and that proposal was an attempt to anchor himself to something real. Except since bipolar episodes can happen at any moment some people might not be awake when their partner has one.

Unfortunately, even if she were awake and said yes, that probably wouldn’t have stopped him from killing himself. Some bipolars are on a death spiral and it sucks to think about, but bipolar is a purgatory of its own.

When will all of this reach a climax? It looks like I'm living in a time loop; The exact same thing happened with Etika a year ago
It won't stop until the majority of people take mental illnesses seriously. Sadly we live in a deranged society that rather hoist them up on a pedestal instead of treating them for the crippling horror they are. You can thank the LGBT for that. Thanks to their bullshit mental illnesses are seen as a "strength" not a weakness that needs to be remedied like they really are. If you wanna suck dick or munch carpet, you do you, but their politics make it incredibly hard for people with mental illnesses to be taken seriously. They have easily done far more damage than good.

I don't hate the LGBT because I'm "transphobic" "homophobic" or whatever retarded buzzword they have this week. I hate them because their retarded political nonsense royally fucks over people who need genuine help dealing with their mental ailments. It's not because it has an effect on me personally, it's because I have a deep and painful understanding of how crippling it really is. I don't want others suffering like this, it's fucking horrifying, and these stupid jackasses make it worse for all of us. Call me a "bleeding heart" if you want, but I'm just speaking from experience and my heart. Mental illnesses are a death sentence, not something to be lawded around like a fucking achievement.

Sorry for ranting, this is just a subject I'm extremely passionate about.

At level, the Jaina fight makes up for all of it.
Aw, c'mon man, not even Mythic Azshara?

Still, don't have much to add besides my own respects to the guy. Doing something like that in a manic episode was a death sentence for his career thanks to cancel culture...and unfortunately for him too. It's really heartbreaking that this runs in the family, and that if this hadn't ended in tragedy it'd be about cancelling him instead of understanding the desperate mental state that caused this.

*sigh*

co mon. you talked with the guy once and now you crying that his dead? you can be sad and pity him but cry in front of a camera for everyone to see just screams attention whore for me.
This is very unprofessional and would make me question him working with clients in the way he does. If its real he has enmeshment issues, if not he just wants attention both go against principles of the profession. It may sound harsh and detached, but you can't let a clients death or choices get to to that degree thats why we debrief when clients take their lives and have weekly team meetings.

I'm curious if he monetizes his videos because that would actually be a huge licensure violation.

Decided to do some looking into this guy that is a "therapist"
He is only conditional certified by the Association of Psychiatry and Neurology because he has not met his MOC requirements.

Moc Requirements:
  • Complete one (1) MOC activity every two (2) years. Points earned will count toward the 5 year requirement of 100 MOC points.
  • Earn 100 MOC points every five (5) years. Twenty (20) of these points must be in the Medical Knowledge category.
  • Pass an assessment

Clincal Status Legend:
Clinically
Active: Any amount of direct and/or consultative patient care has been provided in the preceding 24 months. ...
Clinically Inactive: No direct and or/consultative patient care has been provided in the past 24 months.
Status Unknown: No information available on the clinical activity of this diplomate.

Here is his MD status:

Active, but it does state he has not made payment on a malpractice claim. Cannot find info about this claim.

From his own info he is not actively taking new patients and he admits he does not use the methods he has been taught as part of his therapy since he focuses on Ayurvedic medicine which I know nothing about.

Not sure most people would look up a psychiatrist see hes only worked 2 years, with no clinical experience listed and not meeting his MOC reqs in 2 years time. Now its possible its just because he is not even 24 months into his license, but that to me makes him even less reliable as a person on a stream telling advice to vulnerable people.

the most amazing thing about reading people talk about depression is reading everyone boast about how woke and nice they are and how they wish they could've been there for them but the ugly reality is people get annoyed by depressed people and just tell them to fuck off and won't give them the time of day. It's wealthy trust fund kids getting into activism by "speaking" about it and not actually cleaning up the ocean or whatever the fuck.

when you're depressed people just treat you like shit and tell you to fuck off. everyone's so caring when they hear about someone commit suicide but when a suicidal or depressed person even slightly inconveniences them that caring shit goes right out the window.

if authorities think someone is at risk of suicide they'll lock em up and treat them like a farm animal and treat them like shit.

oh yeah, mental health groups online attract sociopaths, don't ever visit one

It's honestly very refreshing hearing your opinion. You actually understand. I would rate you but apparently I'm not allowed to do that right now. Thanks jannies....

One thing you brought up is what brings many people into therapy. Learning their friends were not really friends. In the competivie gaming world he was in any faults would be seen as even more of a reason to ostracize since it would put him at a disadvantage.

He makes a point of underlining how his 'treatment' isn't therapy; he's being paid for his time. This isn't bringing a business online, he's just talking for money because he usually streams right before going to work, ie. literally being robbed of income, so he seeks compensation.

You can call it unprofessional but once again, he's in the comfort of his home and privacy, that he just so happens to stream. Who would want an ice cold therapist with no capacity for relatability? Reckful literally made this man's career on Twitch, which enabled him to both start up an initiative to enable others to help people 'on his behalf', on top of just getting a chance to possibly help young people who don't consider them in need of mental help because they're just "lmao super trash kill me Discord ww@" sorts.

Reckful basically pioneered monetization of Twitch as is. The dude is rightfully called the godfather of Twitch for what he has done, and his reward was to be ignored by friends as well as letting people who believe him down by not seeking help himself. Even without joining an emotional circlejerk, it's kind of absurd you'd want some kind of robot to interact with teenagers on a gaming website. If anything, he's very upfront about a lot of things, which results in a lot of humorous contextless clips of him asking people why they're even alive.

Whether or not he's a "legitimate" therapist doesn't really matter, cause he's not exercising therapy. As he stated himself in his memorial stream, he's asking questions and lending a ear, that may or may not be worth more than other people, simply because he's got insight into therapy. To assume he just put his business online and aimed it at kids is idiotic, and he states as much literally every stream.

His roomate wrote this, and basically underlines the issue. He didn't accept help, people didn't offer help, and ultimately he was told to fuck off for not being worth the while: https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sradgv

Speaking of, Alinity spoke with Dr K since her breakdown, and despite the good faith of Twitch now wanting awareness around mental health issues, she instead takes the chance to never address any of her allegations, as well as lying about those already made:

She didn't throw her cat, she "tried to put it on the headrest". She didn't feed it vodka, she "let it lick it off her lips". She didn't make fake rape accusations about Trainwrecks. Period, apparently. So she's already shitting up her one chance to set things straight, but basically just abused the platform. May or may not lead to loss of faith, but ultimately won't change shit.

welp that should settle it. I understand the hesitation to make a wellness check on your friend and get them locked in the "loony bin" as he put it. He probably should have in hindsight but he looks like he was pretty far gone. He should have been under some kind of regular medication. I have 2 family member that are diagnosed bipolar (1 is bipolar and schizo) and while they hate taking theirs meds because of the myriad of sideeffect it does help them not off themselves.

Antidepressants are a scam and they will only fuck up your body.
This is not something you can push out as a fact for every person. Ever single person taking an SSRI I've met in my life, including myself, are significantly more stable on SSRIs than off. They are not a cure all by any means, but as someone who has once had to wait for a refill because I called in for one too late, and known people who have done the same, that period of having to wait potentially a week for the meds to come in and then wait for the dosage to built up over again is an emotional nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone. Maybe they don't work for everyone, but I know they damn well work for me.

A lot of MDs have been doing this since COVID-19 hit. It's "health coaching" rather than practicing whatever you're licensed to do. I don't really know much about the therapy world though.

I also expect the guillotine to fall on it pretty soon.

Dr. Phil has gotten away with it for years.

I don't want to TMI/powerlevel/OT too much so let me keep this short: thank you so much for saying this and thinking like this. It honestly feels like someone lifted a weight off of my back.

It just sucks so much to deal and struggle with mental illnesses and having the LGBTQ always smear their "it's not a mental illness, it's a strength" bullshit in your face or telling you to fuck off because "you're cishet and white - what do YOU have to complain about?".

Just. Thank you, man.

Those who actually care are still around, even if we're a dying breed. Stay strong brother. I'll always be here for you if you need someone to vent to. I'm no psychologist (yet, schooling is a pain), but I know and understand that struggle.

People really like to tell themselves 'nothing could be done' with suicides where nothing was even tried.

This is why I despise people who fake disorders for attention and steal from the public recognition of how serious these things actually are.

People who fake mental illnesses are like those who look at death as they would in a video game. Before it's a real thing to these egocentrics, it's a plot element in a story. A fantasy. They're not sensitive to it because they lack first-hand knowledge, (as well as the empathy of a well-adjusted person). Just as they haven't seen a personal universe - a life - slip through the cracks of a floorboard, they've never felt what it's like to be constantly unsafe within your own mind. To feel that you can never be alone when you want to, because you can't hide from your personal demon. To wake up every day and go to war with yourself, to pray for just enough peace that you can rest... and do it again tomorrow.

It's like being stalked by a mythical demon who can follow you anywhere, will follow you everywhere, and strikes at you without warning throughout the entire course of your life. The force from such a thing is unmatchable, precise, absolutely relentless, and can spread devastating ruin to every life connected. It destroys people to the point where if you don't get help, and you don't kill yourself, you can have every positive thing about you swallowed by an abyss that makes you worse than dead. So the only way through is help. A mix of therapy, personal support, and - without overdoing it - medication work best for me and I'd say for most everyone else. If you have these things, at least with bipolarity, you have a platform to make it. You can be somebody, live your life, have self-control, have friends and family who love you while also giving them a reason to...

One of the very worst things you can do to somebody is obstruct or deny them of the help that they need. If you water it down, or promote pseudo-science, or take advantage of the sick, or block access to professional medicine, or malinger out of the DSM for larp character traits, you may as well be enabling psychological torture and suicide.

if you're getting a psych degree then you're probably painfully aware of just how useless most undergrad psych majors are (and grad students in certain fields such as school psych)
