World of Warcraft

I had too high of expectations, and even I thought they were comically low.
I would do the good, bad, and ugly version of this opinion on the announcement, but it would be mostly bad/ugly due to not enough information being out and how I think the dev cycle is going to go.

Good
+Dragonflying: Get fucked, but this is just giving everyone unlimited gliders, but with additional customization and functions. I think this is a great balance between flying unlocked from the get go and never getting it because "discover the map" or whatever excuse is being pushed this month. I hope they revamp the whole flying system to include aspects of Dragonflying, such as you can still move at 310 speed, but if you dive you can get up to 390 speed, hypothetical numbers obviously.
+Open ended story: we aren't bogged down in having to fight Sylvanas or Thanos, or whatevery big bad was introduced. It feels MOPish story wise, which considering the pretty damn good story MOP created... well at least I can't tell they won't be ruining anymore characters.

Neutral to Bad (getting the same section)
-Drakthyr (idc if thats how it's spelt). What a stupid fucking looking race for what is essentially something we already have, humanoid dragon races. These look like furry rejects, guess the internet can't R34 your characters if they are already based on R34 characters. Also who thought it was a good idea to not give them access to any other class? Literally zero reason to play them unless you want to play Evoker...
-Evoker: From what I've seen its going to suck like demon hunters. They even said they were like DHs and well DHs are a crappy class that isn't fun to play. The only people who play DHs are degenerates who are bad at the game and min/max'ers when DH is OP.
-Talent revamp: I'm terrified of this, if they don't add in past and new skills into the tree to give it choice, we are essentially giving up class revamps for a skill tree system that is going to have the current issue all classes have. They are built around having multiple expansion borrowed power systems just to fill out the class and make them functional. And since they said no borrowed power system, does that mean we are going to be rolling with shitty incomplete classes the whole expansion? Or even worse, tying functionality to RNG loot drops.

- Edit - Forgot to mention the biggest negative, the general lack of anything announced. Even SL had Maw and Torghast to look forward to, hell Torghast was pretty great until they tied horseshit rewards to it and never made it a fun side thing to do. What was even announced? This was basically a long winded leak but we all know this is all the major features, it's all been announced.

After Legion, BFA, and SL; I think the only way I would be excited is if the game came out today and I got to hop in. Fairly certain as the alpha and whatnot rolls by I will become less and less interested in the game and never wind up playing. This is the honeymoon phase and the game already sounds dead in the water.

Double edit:
Just read this from an interview "
  • You will get a new talent point for every level from 60-70 with the new talent system."
Pretty much just considering this a dead game at this point, they aren't going to unfuck the classes and the classes are all fundamentally broken because of borrowed power.

Like I said, should've done another faction war with resurrected champions such as Garrosh and Varian. It's kinda cringe but at least it would've given a new playing field. Also, just have the dragon mounts be allies in this neo retard war I came up with.

I'm calling it now, they're going to buy off those figure makers who take a long ass time and put it up in the blizzard merch for furries to sink even more money into useless shit.
I can see that happening. I wonder who the big world ending evil will be this time and how they'll try to make the Jailer sound not retarded. I think I'm just done with WoW for good, nothing about this excites me.

I liked that there wasn't a world ending thing in the trailer, but the trailer looked wrong. There's just something about it that doesn't look like Warcraft.

The Jailer was a schizo because he realized the reality was created by exterior forces like Vivec did. Those forces corrupted him and he wanted to end it all so the schizo could go away. Boom just made it make sense.

The weird thing is there was no canonical precdence for making the human form of the dragons so scaly and weird. Canonically their human form ranged from fairly mundane looking to something more extreme
Deathwing_Raneman.jpg
But they never looked like furry OCs.
It's likely a mistake to make their human form so dragonlike, and making their dragon form so humanoid.
It would likely be far more fitting if the dragon forms were more monstreous, while the human forms had more influence from the element they represent rather than having scale patches and colored in multiple bright colors

I prefer the version where he just wanted to destroy the universe because he got Shadow AIDs from his gay lover the Primus. The Primus didn't lose his memories either, he just didn't want to admit that the whole thing was a bondage session gone wrong and that he was a fag.

So it's a lotta nothing, I see.

I get the comparisons to Mists of Pandaria in how this feels more like a lighter exploration-focused expansion than World-Ending Threat #173, but this just doesn't give me the same vibe. Say what you will about pandaren being a joke race, that expansion did a good job of fleshing it out into a full culture, injecting an Asian-style focus to the Warcraft setting for more variety, and delivering a more or less complete story by the end with a variety of subplots along the way. (I may be slightly biased because I've loved pandas since I was a kid, but that's beside the point.)

Dragonflight is...more of the same, pretty much. It's like they're trying to play it as safe as they possibly can this go around. There's no over-the-top villain that's five seconds away from blowing up Azeroth, so there won't be immediate comparisons between that one and the Jailer and all other previous big bads. They're adding in a continent that's been hinted at in the lore for years, much like Zandalar and Kul Tiras back in BfA. They're letting you play as dragons...kinda. They're letting you fly from the start...kinda. They're bringing back talent trees and doing a profession overhaul, the former for legacy brownie points and the latter seeming like a FF14 ripoff. About the only thing they didn't announce that would have made this the safest expansion yet was player housing, but I guess the sub numbers haven't cratered enough for them to pull that trump card yet.

And on top of that, weren't the dragonflights' stories pretty conclusively wrapped up in Cata? The Aspects gave up their power to nuke Deathwing, and from my understanding, that meant the dragonflights themselves were going to slowly fade away from Azeroth. Remember when Alexstrasza said that it was now the Age of Mortals or some shit like that? Ysera's dead, Nozdormu may or may not still end up becoming Murozond (fucking time travel), Wrathion's been throwing temper tantrums every so often, and everyone else has just been doing diddlysquat since then. There's no point in digging up this plot thread that was already finished ages ago.

I had zero expectations and they still failed to meet them. The only amusing part of all this is how everyone made fun of the troon in the livestream. More entertainment than WoW has provided in years.

This looks like hot garbage, like someone accidentally shared their Fursona folder on the work servers and the rest of the team just sort of ran with it or something.

Not enthused with a lot of the stuff they're inserting into the game. The "dragon history" shit just screams Danuser taking a hatchet to established lore and building his own little world because "WE WUZ DRAGONKINGZ 'N SHEEIT" will trump "known" history or some other bullshit. They're already starting to shit on existing lore (that 'age of Mortals' sure lasted a long time, hu?)

The new race looks stupid, horribly out of place and not at all in line with the general Warcraft aesthetic (but that's been changing for a while, now.) You know it's fucking bad when the anime weeabo MMO lizard people emasculate Azeroth's.

So it's looking like this is going to be an 'explore and relax!' adventure themed expansion, like MoP. Which sounds decent on paper, but for something that's meant to grab lapsed fan's attention and get them hyped it just seems to fall completely flat unless you're some sort of degenerate furry weirdo. So, uh, good on you Blizzard for viewing that segment of the market as being utterly vital.

It also seems that this is a very deliberate choice to have a more 'down to earth' adventure. They have to know people were utterly sick and tired of the Jailer and all the other bullshit that was the last couple of expansions and are utterly sick of Sylvanas and how she's been front and center for something like 3 expansions at this point. I have to imagine that this was a conscious choice to try and 4D Chess their way into the next expansion which will be a continuation of the nonsense that's been going on.

Like, people have been proposing theoretical Dragon Isles expansions for decades at this point and this is indistinguishable from anything you'd see on the Suggestions Forum or whatever. This is Danuser's magnum opus and it's a retread of horribly worn cliches.

And that's without going into any of the gameplay shit. Woo, talents and specs are back on the menu. Sounds like it's going to be mostly fluff and aesthetics (Ice Fist or Fire Fist?) rather than anything crunchy and, knowing that Ion is still around, nothing much is going to be changed there. Deck chairs on the Titanic and all that. All the same problems that have reared their heads in the past are going to come back, yet again. Just no 'borrowed power' this time around, lol. We totally fixed the problems that led to us devising and utilizing that system in the first place, guys!

The rumors that this expansion is a rush job to try and appease angry fans and stem the bleeding seem more real. I still can't believe the models of this new race or the general art assets in general. Even the trailer was incredibly mundane.

I don't see the comparison to MoP really, because as you mentioned MoP ended as a good expansion despite some of the goofy shit and from start to finish it seemed to have a direction it was going towards. The difference with this is I don't see that direction. Let's go back to MoP, the trailer starts with a very ominous feel and goes into Alliance fighting Horde, but then a Panda appears and both join to fight the new threat, with it ultimately ending in the Panda not really being some great evil and a new world to explore.

The Dragon Island trailer doesn't really do that, because while it has that same ominous opening, what's the point of the guy climbing the tower? Sure, it's to turn on the beacon, but did that really need to be there? The only purpose it served was to make it feel more dramatic than it needed to be, whereas with the panda we knew there wasn't exactly a major threat to the characters as the first round of fighting shows that, with the human and orc joining forces to go again. I just don't think they'll be able to capture the same energy of MoP in the slightest.

I'm also expecting this to be a WoD level of disaster. Any time WoW has tried to implement a major overhaul it has crashed and burned, and this whole revamped flying systems and more seems like it will end the same way. Maybe they'll pull a Legion and it will all run like the Artifact Weapons, but I'm really just expecting a disaster as this is way too ambitious for a company that can hardly produce the basic version of the game as it is without having to cut half the content.

I'll add that I didn't expect MoP to be good, so I'm not here to claim I always knew it would be some great expansion, though I did start enjoying it rather quickly once I got into it.

Based on the lines from the cinematic, it sounds like some retcon bullshit where the Titans restore the aspects powers. What I wish would happen is that the dragon flights are simply reclaiming their home to withdraw from the world of mortals and their petty wars. From there, they welcome neutral parties and raise champions, using accumulated and recently reclaimed knowledge, to protect the world in their stead culminating in those very champions facing off with an undead Galakrond and the recently unshackled Scourge that raised him. You can continue the passing of the torch story with the dragons without having to throw away that established "Age of Mortals" lore.

And why do we need a new DeviantArt-esque race of draconic humanoids? We already had Drakonids. Just scale them down in size a little, give them updated models and make them a playable race if you want to introduce something new. Drakonids are badass and would have filled the role nicely.

If I heard right, I think the only thing they might be doing right is the cross factional play. Players should have always been more akin to mercenaries rather than strictly factional heroes. When the gold, gear and glory is enough, players can turn up and fight for their factions. Otherwise, they travel and solve problems and tackle larger threats. With how many neutral parties there are in World of Warcraft, I don't think it would have hurt the lore.

Blizzard have considered making drakonid a playable race, with Tom Chilton stating in 2009 that "We always looked at those and said, oh that would be a pretty cool player race - it would be cool to play as one of those guys. There's not a lot there as far as, where did they come from and what are they? But they are in the world and it wouldn't be completely inconceivable that a player would end up being able to play that, and we could continue to expand on the depth of that race and that sort of race."

At first I was laughing at the bullshit surrounding this expansion, but now I'm starting to get a little MATI. We've went past the point of ignoring a fanbase for the sole purpose of money to "This is OUR game and we make this game for US!". They don't make WoW for the fans or for money anymore, they make it for themselves because they want to jack off to twink fetish scalie shit and write fanfiction for their number 1 waifu Sylvanas. Nobody wanted the fruit pictures, but THEY wanted it because trannies will never look like real women and they just want to bring everyone down to their level. Nobody wanted the evoker class, but THEY did and THEY thought it sounded cool in their heads. Nobody wants these fuck ugly characters or changes to canon, but THEY do and THEY want to again bring everything down to their low tranny levels. Whatever they want to do. But I'm not going to fucking listen to years of straw mans and transphobia accusations and telling me I'm entitled because I'm white (I'm actually not but that's fucking irrelevant) and see slews of articles talking about staff getting backlash because people hate the shit that they're throwing their way. Fuck you Blizzard and fuck your game.

All the talk fo them listenign to the community. Ya all did hear the "community" was the community council right? Ion said it right before all his community stuff.

Thing is, they could even made the Dracthyr cool, instead they look faggotty as fuck. Just look at the gay Indians outfit man. Jesus fuck. It really doesn't matter if it's Dracthyr or Drakenoids, in this day and age these people will have destroyed anything relating to anthropomorphic animals. Not just that but even their roles are a clear indication of how soyfilled their fighting style will be and a projection of their beta mindset.

Wait, am I the only one that noticed that those models have bras on like female models? I know they retconned Chromie into being male, but at least she was still Chromie, are those fucks with the chest coverings supposed to be females? Why do they have two sets of underwear?
