It’s a dumb question. Too much depends on motivation and intent. The justification that people will believe you if you’re attacked by a bear is even dumber. If a grizzly attacks you you’re unlikely to escape to go tell people.
If the scenario is I’m armed and can get out and both man and bear would be after me I’d probably choose bear, becasue a human would be a more dedicated and harder to trick opponent. But in all other scenarios,

The fact that the question is vague doesn't stop certain people from jumping to the conclusion that the man is going to rape you

I'd rather my odds with the man in the woods being a murderer or rapist than the inevitable mauling from a bear. I'd rather not be eaten whilst still alive and able to feel every excruciating thing happening to my mangled body, thanks. Every time you go outside you come accross potentially hundreds of people that could murder you and get away with it, they simply decide not to, or the idea doesn't even cross their minds to begin with.

So you put the 2 options literally in front of her: on one side you have your "average Joe" that you can find at a random afternoon walking on the streets, who most likely would try to help in order to both get out of that dangerous situation, and on the other side you have the adult bear, inches away & looking straight at her while growling.

I'd like to see if the prospect of this animal who is much bigger, heavier, faster and violent than they could ever be (and probably more intelligent as well), tearing their faces and intestines out while they're still alive in the silence of the woods would be a deterrent for these women.

Give any of these women the opportunity to live out their choice and they'll change their minds to a man real fucking quick. It would be difficult to coordinate plans for foraging, hunting, and long term storage if you were trying to live in the woods alongside a bear. I think it would also be difficult to explain the utility and importance of latrines to a bear, but if you somehow managed to they could probably dig a serviceable one quickly without needing a shovel
