Until/unless we get to the point where you can tell a parent that he or she is doing something really fucking stupid when they announce that their kid is now a gender special, and they shouldn't be proud of doing irreversible things to their child, this shit is going to linger.
Look, I'm in that annoying AWFL demographic. If I find out that Debbie is buying her teenager MJ at the dispensary out of her script, or that Nicole bought a bunch of beer for her underage kids' party, I can say that's really dumb without all the rest of the AWFL's telling me I'm "rude" or that I need to "educate myself". But merely posting an FDA warning on FB about how some girls were developing pseudotumori cerebri (however it's spelled, I'm not a medfag)? Hell yeah, I pissed off another AWFL who put her daughter on that shit. I didn't know what hormone blockers were for, blah blah blah, she's saving her daughter's life.....I needed to educate myself on how necessary they were so her daughter could be a son.....all that crap.
It didn't matter that me and another mom we both know were on hormone blockers for breast cancer, and definitely fucking knew what being on them was like. It didn't matter that I didn't post a link to some TERFy site - it was the FDA's warning, based on actual cases of harm to girls like her daughter. We were RUDE. We didn't blow smoke up her ass, tell her she was brave for fucking her daughter up in an unfixable way, and that her child is/will be a handsome boy.
I didn't get "canceled" in our mutual friends/school moms group, but there have been a few handmaidens that refuse to acknowledge my existence ever since. (I guess the optics of screaming at a cancer patient still are worse than screaming at a TERF? IDK. IDGAF.). Others sent me some private messages outing themselves as Terven, but were afraid to even like the post.
Stunning and brave munchie mom doesn't have a history of making intelligent parenting decisions, but it's still not completely okay to tell those boneheads that they are fucking up badly when it comes to troon shit. It's getting better, though. There were a few who "liked" it, even though they wouldn't comment on it.
I guess it's going to be like Romania when it was under Ceausescu. Everyone thought they were the only ones who hated that fucker, until they all noticed the booing that wouldn't stop during a rally for the Dear Leader. (We should be so lucky to have these butchers strung up on lamp posts....)
At least I can point to that instance IRL and say.....yeah, dumbasses, I FUCKING TOLD YOU when we get to that point. It's going to be a hollow victory, though. The kids are going to pay the price, not the adults who betrayed them.
