From what I understand you still fight them, just don't kill them due to causing historical inaccuracy?
Honestly I wish Western and Japanese gamers cared as much about their history to force a company to change the game, like when Battlefield 5 replaced a spec op unit with a single woman.

This games plot and setting is actually really intresting. I've enjoyed looking into a very important Era of Chinese history that I don't see to often.
Most Chinese stuff I'm exposed to is about Romance of the Three Kingdoms or mythology like WuKong. Just seeing things in this game and looking up their real life counterparts has been alot of fun.
Like the massive amount of cannnilbism during periods of Chinese conflicts. I thought the game was just being edgy, but holy fuck these dudes have alot of recorded history of people eating each other.
