yeah so you’re wrong (only going to touch the opium part) about that and it is easy to disprove also it does not make logical sense. Did the heroin growth out of Afghanistan increase after the US invaded? Absolutely, but that heroin did not make it to the US at least in any appreciable amount.

First of all they produce what’s known as Heroin #3 (can be smoked and injected but not snorted) that is typically only found in Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. Secondly, the explosion of heroin usage in the US can be explained by a few factors. One is pill mills, but most addicts didn’t start out getting a script rather buying from people that were getting from the pill mills.

Then, states start to crack down on those and the formula for the oxy pills is changed to where it can no longer be snorted or injected (people will try some crazy shit to still do that I can’t see how it would be that effective with the insanity I’ve read how they do it). Now, you have this town in Mexico called Xalisco where they are growing opium to produce heroin.

They start producing black tar heroin (can be smoked or injected not snorted easily) because the chemical needed to create heroin #4 (can be snorted or injected, but not smoked effectively) isn’t an easy precursor to get/a little pricey. So, you can go an alternate route which has been known about for over 100 years for creating a heroin that absorbs moisture from the air around it.

These groups start popping up all over the US in areas where heroin was niche was now widely available. Now, with these addicts pills no longer being good to use or becoming more expensive due to the tighter regulations/shifting perception the switch to heroin was available.

I don’t believe they still operate at the level they did previously just from looking at heroin bust and you see the dwindling amount of their style (3-5 man group doing parking lot meetups via dispatcher) and dwindling amount of black tar heroin.

The amount of actual heroin #4 coming from Mexico has increased and the cartels seem to be behind that one (the other groups weren’t great people, but they weren’t murder gangs). They also hooked up with the CCP to get fentanyl/RC opioids to cut their heroin supply with. You can see this transition just from looking at arrest from certain time periods.

You would see the police always arresting a group of men from that area with black tar heroin. Now, for the past few years too, you see all races, but the main element is that they are typically involved with larger organized crime groups that would be dealing with the cartels.

Also, the taliban, at least in the late 90s/early00s, was against farmers growing opium. Now, we get into an area where you have to get a little tinfoil on, but it isn’t much of a stretch. Just like with cocaine the CIA gets involved with organized crime in that region, the eradication by the Military is of competing groups, there are plenty of US military members that guarded fields, and the CIA gets to make some extra money to do whatever fucking weird shit they do.

I’ll be honest and say that’s my belief to that situation; however, to say that is the reason we went to war in that region doesn’t make sense. Could it have played a role? I suppose, but I believe it was more of an opportunity that the CIA saw they could take advantage of.
