Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

I was always told The Infernal Machine was good, but my rental place never got the N64 version so I never got to play it.

But yeah, from the start I was scratching my head at the few Xbox people I know getting hyped up about this Indiana Jones game. Like....who gives a shit about Indiana Jones anymore? Especially after Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny?

Why is the Xbox Series X going UP in price four years after launch? Same with the PS5.
Because they can. They've realised that the casuals who usually jump ship by now, aren't going to, and the ones who will are doing it because of FOMO. May as well screw the whales like they do in mobile gatcha games.

I can't wait to see how many people buy a PS5PRO with no games for £800

I didn't even think about this until someone mentioned it. But it's absolutely crazy that Series X's were selling for around 400 dollars last holiday depending on what store you went to, but this holiday they are going to be going for FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS
Meanwhile, computer hardware continues to drop in price as it always does. I actually found out a couple of days ago that RAM is now a whole hell of a lot cheaper than what I paid for mine in 2022. A single stick of DDR4 32gb is now $60.

(Then again, my GPU's not much cheaper at all)

The original Xbox is among my favorite consoles. The 360 was solid until the Kinect was released. What happened to these guys? When did the faggots take over at Microsoft? The only thing I use my Series X for is Ninja Gaiden 2 and Mechwarrior 5.
When Peter Moore left, the OG Xbox team was no more. The origins story of the OG Xbox is excellent and a vision that was lost on the suits. Mattrick was terrible for MS but worse still is Phil Spencer.
Mattrick knew he had to innovate the brand, he just lacked the knowledge of how to do it.
Spencer is absolutely fucking clueless about gaming, and worse still, he is an unapologetic liar who peddles nothing but bullshit.

"We have a console for people who don't want an xbox one, it's called the 360" was pretty damaging, but still pushed people into buying an xbox product.

"Just wait until you see what we have at next e3" is pure bullshit. Let alone the fat cunt wore that 'craig' t-shirt like it was funny. It wasn't. It would be like American Airlines wearing a t-shirt with the twin towers collapsing for their next plane sales pitch "so good it knocks down buildings".

I fucking hate Spencer for killing the brand.

You can blame certain people, sure, but the truth is it's impossible to retain all that talent over decades. Your J Allard's and Peter Moore's, your Kaz Hirai's and Ken Kutaragi's; they aren't going to stay around forever. And who do they get replaced by? An ever declining talent pool in an infested industry that gets worse by the day. Even talented coders like Carmack don't want anything to do with it anymore. And do you blame them? The money is so much better elsewhere unless you are some office slave.

You "kill" Mattrick, you get Spencer. You "kill" Spencer and you get even bigger cancer.

And the truth is there's no good consoles anymore. PC isn't much better either. I haven't turned any of my systems on in months. It's all garbage. There is exactly one game I'm looking forward to.
And I get it, there are still hidden gems, guilty pleasures, and an endless retro library, but it's few and far between. It used to be that there was a worthy release every month, now it's once a year if you're lucky.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the video game crash 2.0 can't come soon enough (a man can dream).

I had high hopes for Spencer. He came in hot announcing backward compatibility on the Xbox One, and after that, the Xbox One X was released. His inability to get 343 Industries under control has been a massive disappointment. Halo went from being a killer app to just another mediocre FPS influenced by faggotry.

Spencer reminds me of Randy Pitchford, a fucking snake oil salesman.

Spencer gets praise for shit he didn't do and gets away with stuff he did do.
Spencer was Mattricks' boss and signed off on the Xbox One.
The Xbox 1X was designed and built by the surface team who were busy in the R+D departments next to Kinect, Microsoft glass and that AR shit.

It still amazes me that the biggest xbots didn't even know that the X1X was a new console and shared only the CPU with the X1 and X1S.

Xbox brought the last 14 years of hurt on themselves. If they had launched a new console in 2010, like they should have, instead of fucking around with Kinect, Sony would be bankrupt now and MS would own the living room. Their own greed and retardation cost them 10's of billions.

Don't get me started on Sony. I haven't liked any of their consoles since the PS3. Resistance and Killzone had to die so that shit like Horizon could be astroturfed. Ghosts of Tsushima was pretty good though, I will give them that. Peak gaming was the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era. I too am hoping for an industry collapse.

You missed out Dreamcast from ps2/xbox/gamecube era, they were all the same gen, the same wonderful, beautiful amazing gen.

The good news is that the industry has collapsed. The bad news is Sony and Microsoft are too retarded to have realised. There were industry experts warning both MS and Sony to chill their beans on the next console, which Microsoft partly listened to and designed the S, but because they're fucking retarded, they also launched a high-end console at the same time.

Nintendo know where it's at. They'll make a Switch 2 on par with a PS4pro spec wise, which is more than enough power to make amazing games, the industry will eat it up because who needs more power than a PS4pro in a console that doesn't have VR?

Sony and Microsoft will just be PC storefronts or Sub-sections of Steam by 2030.

I went from 24GB to 32GB with my last PC upgrade and I still can't figure out what needs that much RAM. The hell would you do with 32GB per stick?

128GB workstation here. I don't quite fill it up on a daily basis but VMs, docker containers, compilers, IDE, hardware emulators, network and cluster simulations, etc. all contribute to the pile. If I'm banging on something to make sure it behaves on a Kubernetes cluster for instance, I can "fake" a cluster with "minikube," which spins up three or five (or whatever) virtual nodes that appear as a normal cluster to whatever I'm messing with.

Obviously you can do all this with less memory, but it's nice to be able to optimize memory consumption in a separate step without having to worry about it too much at the "does this thing fucking work in the first place?" stage.

From my understanding 3D artists and the like use a shit ton of memory too for models, textures, meshes, maps, etc.

I used to do the bolded on systems with RAM measured in MB. I guess if you use VSCode you somehow turn text editing into a thing that needs 1GB of RAM and updates every 15 seconds.

From my understanding, Spencer 's job was to be better than Mattrick. Better at being a sales man/personable/likeable and of course better at not telling the fans to not buy the new console. Nothing impressive but Mattrick had poisoned his reputation so he had to go.

Emulating 64-bit ARM on amd64 requires more than a few MB of RAM. Cross-compilation too.

It's not the 1980's anymore, sadly, and unless you're emulating arduino or esp32 the requirements go up. Vendor toolkit bloat doesn't help either.

It's 2024 and another first party Xbox game (that doesn't even visually look good) will be running at 30FPS on the word's most powerful console.

They're basically using every angle they can to just shit all over their console owners at this point.
