Every year I'm reminded how awful MS is at managing their studios. It's development-hell central in there.
I'm assuming that's the reason why they are keeping Bethesda, Blizzard and Activision as separated publishers.

The reason they are separate is because MS is awful at managing their studios As soon as someone wakes up they'll fold them all into the monolith, claim all their employees are redunant/can be replaced by AI, and end up spending $80 billion for the lucrative rights to Pitfall.

When it first got leaked, the rumor was that the rog Xbox and Xbox handheld were two different things.

Not that a hypothetical Xbox handheld would have any major advantages over a PC other than optimization.

The fact this show was so underwhelming despite MS practically owning half the industry is just pathetic. They should be shitting out huge games left and right. Instead it was filled to the brim with filler indie trash, FO76/ESO/SOT shilling in 2025, execs robotically yapping away, and ending on fucking COD of all things which is a yearly thing anyway so it's not like it's a surprise.

Gears and Halo not showing up is just insane. They both have anniversaries next year, at least show fucking something. Best they could muster is a Gears 1 re-remaster and ozempic Phil mentioning them in his ending speech. Great.

Also, they can fuck themselves with the $80 pricetag, especially for a game as painfully mediocre as Outer Worlds. Talk about being sent out to die.

I have to say as someone who has been vocal about how fucking gay Sony is for a while now

If, and that's a big If, I end up getting a system for GTA VI because I'm a GTA consoomer faggot, it will probably be a refurbished PS5 at this point. I've been wanting Microsoft to do *anything* to garner some good will but they just keep fucking up left and right and catering to the worst people in this hobby.

Not that Sony is doing much better, but at least I have seen ones with disk drives lately so I could use it as a blu ray player when I start going physical with films again. The only Xbox systems I see anymore seem to be digital only, which makes me think they're actually recalling disk based ones because who the fuck would even be buying them?

I saw something about the ROG handheld getting a debloated Windows, done by the Xbox team. I wonder if we are going to get any desktop versions out of that. I would love a debloated Windows solely for gaming.

There is zero reason to get an Xbox over PS5 now that MS is putting all their shit on it, unless you just absolutely need game pass and/or the backwards compatibility (which has been abandoned at this point anyway).

But honestly both consoles have been extremely underwhelming and it feels like everything is being funneled to PC.

It will not help to debloat windows when they fill it up with DRM on the root level. That DRM will suck the cpu/ram hard like a hooker sucking a basket ball through a garden hose reel.

I have all three and if I could do it over I would have skipped the xbawx for sure.

I have a PC so I have access to gamepass anyways.

Like, there's absolutely no reason for me to get an Xbox outside of like two games through BC that I have trouble emulating (Saints Row 1 and Fable 2) and needing (wanting) a blu ray player.

But at this point, any game I was interested in has taken too fucking long to come out or looks pozzed to hell. I might as well just get a PS5 cause maybe I could play Days Gone again and enjoy it.

They've locked the fucking things down so tight now (you have to be online and logged-in just to pair it to a new out-of-box external PS5 disc reader if you have the no-disc edition of the PS5) I can't imagine there's even going to be a used market for the things.

I mean, Sony sucks but these things come with a one year warranty and apparently Astrobot pre-installed so I'm guessing that's not going to happen at a minimum.

Then again, I didn't realize for 50 bucks more you can just get a new slim with Astrobot. These refurbs are all launch models I'm pretty sure.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess it's something different called Astros Playground not Astrobot on the refurb.

Astro's Playground is basically a demo for Astrobot.
It's mostly a showcase for all the neat stuff the dualsense can do.
Still, actually a fun little freebie.

I honestly wonder if all the crap we keep hearing about their next gen is actually ever going to happen. or if it does it will be some mid range PCs running this new game focused version of windows with a xbox logo slapped on it.

I stopped trusting them when redfall came out in the state it did. That was a clear message that there was zero quality control and they were just cranking shit out to give your gamepass subscription "value"
