Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

Don Mattick, best known for slapping his dick on the table with the famous phrase "We have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity. It's called the Xbox 360". He then ripped off his shirt and flexed his obscenely gigantic muscles.
For real though, I don't know how someone can hate Xbox and not know who the fucking guy was that pushed always online DRM shit

He even said it on video, and Doritos Pope just dunked on him for it without skipping a beat.

Later in the generation, they released the Xbox One S All Digital (The Xbox One S.A.D.), a machine designed entirely around internet connectivity.

If you could blame Phil, I would say everything from the Xbox one S onward was more his doing, while Don was responsible for the development and launch of the Xbox one (and I think a little bit after). Phil was brought in to try and save the sinking ship that Don had made, so I can't shit on him too much there. But, one S onward I would say he had more of a hand on how things have gone.

Gamepass is a failure, it's stuck in 20 million subs and is not growing anymore. FF14 probably has more subs than that and it's just one single game.

All the blockbusters that come out on gamepass are absolute garbage. All the big hits just don't go to gamepass and never wiill. You are not going to play Baldur's Gate 3 on gamepass, Hogwarts legacy, Alan Wake II, Resident Evil 4 or any major blockbuster of 2023. You get Redfail and Starshit instead.

It's a service that has no future whatsoever.
Wait until CoD releases on Game Pass. That can gain some momentum for the service.

I don't know. I feel like Microsoft would be crazy to make CoD exclusive, and that really feels like the only way they are going to a huge amount of people to jump to Gamepass.
Not exclusive, but have Call of Duty games ON the service. On the same release day as launch, doubtful but we'll see what happens.

Don Mattick was in charge for the Xbox One

Imagine not knowing that Don Mattrick was the head of xbox, not the guy who signed off on his idea and, as much as I hate Mattrick, at least he had a vision, albeit a retarded on, with Xbox One and followed through on it.

Spencer has lied to the point where "just wait until next e3" has been a meme for nearly a decade.

With the launch of the Xbox in 2001, Spencer joined the Xbox team and served as general manager of Microsoft Game Studios EMEA, working with Microsoft's European developers and studios such as Lionhead Studios and Rare until 2008, when he became the general manager of Microsoft Studios, eventually becoming the studio's corporate vice president a year later.
Who signed off on Mattricks Xbone idea? Spencer. Suck it, nigger.

Yeah, an anti-consumer vision where you'd buy a $500 console to WATCH TV and have the Kinect 2.0 spy on you. Not even spy, but DETECT if there are multiple people in the room to charge the host for license usage. His vision would've destroyed the Xbox brand faster than the RRoD could've with the Xbox 360.

RRoD didn't kill or even harm the Xbox brand, despite what online faggots would have you believe.

As for the spy device, yeah, it was retarded but that was a decoy. The rage was focused on Kinect, not the DRM. The DRM which xbox fans are now celebrating in the form of Gamepass.

Xbox is now a rental service where you can't sell, lend or borrow games because of DRM that consoooomers now pay for.

Xbox OG and Xbox 360 were my favourite consoles of all time (tied with the DC), but Xbox died in 2010. It has been a corporate husk since.

It COULD'VE been the downfall for Xbox had Peter Moore not approved the $1 billion compensation package to fix those problem units. Who would want to buy a product with a 45% failure rate?

When you had to pony up $100 more for a gadget that had a patent to practice that DRM.

No he's right, they do, you can play games you bought outright without a subscription to Live or Game Pass. You can also buy most $40+ games on discs. They also make Series X only discs.
If Alan Wake II taught me anything, it's up to the developer/publisher of HOW their games are released.

. I believe Microsoft will be out of the industry by 2027, just the like the leaks said they were considering.
Sony winning by default makes sense, although why wouldn't they fuck off from consoles too?
ruined what good will that Xbox generated
the 360 was a once in a lifetime fluke, it had two of the biggest console exclusive trilogies right out of the gate (gears and halo) and between that and Live the ps3 had literally no chance, the memes about the cost fucked it overall too, but they really got their shit together about halfway through the gen. the 2010- console exclusives for the playstation sold a hell of a lot better than the xbox's. Xbox going all in on the Kinnect was the bad move that allowed the Playstation to win overall.

Its been a decade out and did the Kinnect or motion controls ever take off? This isn't a skype/zoom situation where Microsoft had the tech and let it die only for it to suddenly become normalized. they went all in on nothing.

Cod shit the bed hard this year, between that and negotiations the brand will be dead by the time its exclusive to gamepass. literally those stupid fucks over at microsoft will keep releasing COD for playstation until 2033, thats insane. If Gamepass shuts down in 2027 then they straight up brought a company and never got around to putting its flagship game on their product. Phil should have grown some balls, told Sony to get fucked.

the problem is that disincentives making good games, instead of making $70 they make $0 from someone playing meaning the dev costs will match that, imagine a worse title that the current MW3.

agreed, the problem is why buy the studio if not to pull that? All you're doing is subsidizing the cost if you let them release same day on other consoles, at least get an exclusivity window, but even then that might result in you getting meme'd as a beta tester like everyone does to Epic games.

They spent over $1billion on repairs and recalling units. And over one quarter of a billion dollars on shipping alone. I would argue that they never actually recovered fully from this. It was a miracle that they even made it out of that generation.

It's also a library that gets smaller every year. As the back catalog of games loses a few each year because of licensing issues. A huge number of popular games from the Xbox and 360 era are not available through any means other than piracy essentially which is shameful. Thankfully Microsoft Gaming isn't psychotic about emulation like Nintendo.

The 360 is probably the most underrated console of all time. But the decline since is unimaginable. Microsoft has basically made the wrong move every single time and there seems to be no end. They have some of the worst leadership in hardware and software and seem to be purely surviving on the accomplishments and reputation of the people who built the company into what it was decades ago.

I think VR was what motion controls helped make a reality, while VR hasn't really taken off itself, its still around for now. Other than that I believe the Switch's joy-cons can be used for some motion control mechanics in games as well. So its not completely dead like 3D TV's. But, the fad and I think the novelty has certainly died.

while VR hasn't really taken off itself,
VR was DOA, the concept while neat was always going to be a meme. Facebook going full retard on it especially when google glass proved AR won't work is hilariously insane. Especially when you consider Mark Zuckerberg has the same vision as a dog. Apple getting into the market just means it might be worth it 5 years from now, charging 4k for a device in a time when people are stealing dogs is literally the worst idea ever and the economy still has 12 more months before the government admits its in the shitter.

by 2030 AR/VR might have developed enough to become a legit market but thats still a long time past when people predicted it would get mass adoption. 2024 in VR is what people were expecting 2017 to look like.
