Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

Xbox is gonna do their own Mobile app store to spite Apple:
Bond is now responsible for overseeing all of Microsoft’s Xbox platform and hardware work, just as the company is hoping to launch its own Xbox mobile store. Microsoft has been quietly building a mobile Xbox store that may launch as soon as this year. The Xbox mobile store is designed as an alternative to Apple and Google’s mobile gaming store dominance, and it will rely on content from Activision Blizzard like Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga — two hugely popular mobile games published by Activision and King, respectively.

Radical Heights.
apparently it wasn't that bad and everyone who played it liked it. at least they tried to do it's own thing, instead of just re-hashing fortnite. they just ran out of budget and thus also no marketing.

tbh the obsidian one even makes sense. I rather have a good character story instead of every NPC going HI MY NAME IS BOB WANNA FUCK no matter the players chosen gender...

Sounds like cope

I actually agree. Romance in video games has gotten really fucking pathetic to me. I'm sure Avowed is going to suck ass but it's not because you can't fuck a character in it.

didn't play it, so all that is second-hand opinion.
however I'm one of those weird people who can have fun in games considered shit (like 100+ hours in anthem), so anyone should take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Wasn't implying it was cope on your part, just that it sounds like cope from people who bought into it.

I, also, can enjoy mediocre to bad games but I can also acknowledge that they are bad/mediocre. I enjoyed my time with No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk and Starfield, after all.

For some reason I started playing Fable: Anniversary today and it really made me realize how Xbox has pretty much fumbled everything they had aside from Forza. It's honestly baffling to me that they pushed a game like Sea of Thieves, but never once considered making an online cooperative game with Fable where you're just like heroes going around questing and shit. You could even have PvP elements where one group might do the "bad" version of the quest and the others would do the "good" one like what happens early in Fable 1.

It even seems tailor made for microtransaction shit they love with the expressions and titles and stuff. Instead they just did like some shitty Kinect game, some chibi beat em up and a collectible card game? (okay, I guess I get the Card Game but still)

Who cares about Fable? They have Elder Scrolls an Warcraft, the two most profitable medieval fantasy western RPGs of all time.

Who cares about Halo? They have Doom and Call of Duty, the grandfather of FPSs and the most profitable FPS franchise of all time.

Who cares about fully developed games on Game Pass like Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and Visions of Mana? One of the most recent profitable licensed games on the service is a Early Access Survivalcraft game with a Pokemon skin.

Who cares about the consol Xbox and physical medium anymore? The majority of their profitable input lately are a bunch of Live Service games that runs on completely different systems, like WoW, Fallout 76, Minecraft and CoD Warzone.

Fallout 76 launched as a fucking disaster, and is still basically a shambling corpse, WoW is way past its height of popularity, and CoD Warzone saw massive player dropoff only a few months after it launched. Only Minecraft is still going strong.

Doom Eternal was a highly controversial entry, while Call of Duty has been bleeding player base for years. The original Modern Warfare III and Black Ops were effectively the best selling games in the franchise, and those came out over 10 years ago; its literally been downhill in sales ever since.

After the disaster that was Starfield, everybody is looking at the Elder Scrolls VI with trepidation, and I've already spoken about WoW, while Blizzard hasn't released an actual Warcraft game in years. There last remake (Warcraft III) was an unmitigated disaster.

At the current rate Microsoft will own half the IPs in the industry, and still only release a couple of games each year while gutting every dev studio

Looking very likely that Microsoft is either going to fully go all in on Gamepass being available on all devices and do away with the Xbox brand. Or entirely sell off Microsoft Gaming and be done with both Xbox and gaming in general and divide up all of their gaming properties to other companies. The reports this week that they plan on taking Starfield and future releases to the PS5 plus things like Hi-Fi Rush to the Switch are already signalling that this generation is the last for Xbox hardware.

But the big concern is that the overwhelming majority of their Gamepass subscribers are on Xbox. They must already have a backroom deal with SONY and Nintendo. Or their management is probably the worst in video game history if not corporate history. Imagine if in five or ten years the Xbox is a nonexistent brand and literally abandonware.

They certainly have a PR disaster now with someone leaking (probably SONY executives) that Starfield is coming to Playstation 5 as are other Xbox games.

It's confirmed. Starfield and Indiana Jones is coming to PS5 and others will soon join.

How many times has Microsoft shifted the goalpost?
  1. "BUYING VIDEOGAMES IS OUTDATED WE ARE THE INNOVATORS OF THIS INDUSTRY HERE TO BRING THE GOY PASS!"
  2. "PC is part of the Xbox ecosystem. The Goy Pass will only be available on PC and Series X. We don't need to compete with Sony."
  3. "We need to release games on the PS5 to help Sony! We will expand the ecosystem and become the biggest publisher in the industry."
What's next for Microcock Gaming? I think they will abandon the Goy Pass completely because it's not growing. Xbox will just become another third-party publisher with shitty games. We'll see how successful they'll do as publisher (they'll probably find a way to fuck it up).

In the coming years Xbox will make Embracer Group look like Nintendo.

That's based on the game itself, not necessarily MS' trends that you listed.

Halo used to BE Xbox. I remember when Halo 3/Reach would have player counts in the hundred thousands even after launch.

343i has practically killed Halo by leaning into the live service model without much support.

Sony hasn't released an exclusive since Bloodborne AFAIK because of PC gaming. MS is leaning into Game Pass by buying exclusives for their platform. Now, there's only timed exclusives through DLC.

It'd be funny if Halo ends up on The PS5.
I know you can buy a Halo skin from Rainbow Six Siege and Fortnite.
