Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

That reminded me I never used the code that I got with my series X for three months of ultimate something or other when I bought it.
Guess maybe I should?
If you think you will want to use Game Pass Ultimate for a while you should buy some Live Gold or Standard Game Pass time for your Xbox account before you activate the promotion as described in this article: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tip: Get 2 years of access for dirt cheap (archive)

I had a 1 month Game Pass Ultimate promo that came from a laptop I bought last year and I used it to get 2 years of Game Pass for around $3 per month. Xbox Live Gold codes were very cheap right before they changed it to Game Pass Core in September last year. I also got a free month by turning on auto billing (which I turned off a day later). All my Xbox Live time was converted to Ultimate at a 3:2 ratio when I activated the promo code.

call me a retard but do those tiers ever really work out? feels like they're only good as a way to start doing deals with companies for "free X" while offering a shitty tier and hoping some dope signs up for the ad free tier. like you get free netflix when you sign up for anything anywhere but its always the crap, super low tier.

in terms of revenue its probably a bad deal overall but they can always spin it to investors well AKA the Satellite radio method. Just because plenty of people are auto-signed up with their gym membership doesn't mean people are actually signing up for gamepass.
TIers are inevitable in a subscription service, Microsoft are just speed running the steps
.
First you add a tier with ads, then offer a more expensive tier that removes the adds that you put in
Look at YouTube and YouTube premium. "Don't want to see the ads that we put in? Pay for premium! Noo, don't use adblooocker, Reee"

Console wars haven't been even remotely interesting since the 90s.

I've heard of reviving old IPs and making them shitty but this meta bullshit is taking it too far.
The last actual console war that was worth interesting was the 2000s, specifically the 360/PS3/Wii wars. It was all downhill afterwards

They are now slowly shutting down every Xbox related reddit group and merging them into the main Xbox one. No more posts will be allowed on the subreddits that are just for Xbox One, Series X, or 360. They will all be locked down permanently in the future. And all Xbox related content will only be allowed on one sub from that point on. Apparently the Series X subreddit is already locked from new posts being made.

Apparently this decision was secretly made one year ago and is now being rolled out without any community say or debate. Opinions range from disbelief to utter horror so far. Just more fuel to the fire that Xbox as a brand is being dumped by Microsoft within the next couple of years.

I don't use or understand reddit all that well but is there anything from stopping jilted posters from making r/xboxseriesx2electricboogaloo? Are these subreddits jannied by MS employees or something?

I just cannot see how it can exist with insane losses which in todays economy is unsustainable, even Blackrock are losing billions. The studios Microsoft has are operating at massive losses too and worst of all they spent 70 billion on the biggest dupe in corporate history. Game Pass has lost its lustre almost completely and is being propped by console npcs and it is still not profitable. The US economy in the next year or so is going to be battered like a hurricane and the corporations need to prep for a beating. Apple are doing so by shuttering projects and staying the course. Square are too and the more smarter companies are being prudent. Yes Microsoft has Windows but I don't think they are willing to risk everything for the xbox a console that has barely been profitable for nearly a decade.

SOP for reddit. Unilateral changes amid the ghostly howling of the ignored masses. And because the stupid fucks are so addicted to their "enlightened" social media site, they'll put up with it and eagerly ask for seconds.

Guys on /v/ are saying Hellblade 2 takes about three and a half hours to complete, maybe five if you're slow.

This is a walking sim with barely any gameplay and it still took Ninja Theory five years to develop.

Microsoft needs to tard wrangle their studios some more, holy shit.

Can't wait to see the journofags and redditors cry bloody murder when Ninja Theory gets the fucking axe.

Edit: I feel like all gaming publishers and studios just need this framed in every fucking room of their offices/buildings so they get it through their fucking head they are not making god damn art pieces and movies.

More like big name AAA studios that are busy acting like video games are art so they make movies instead of games, such as the likes of Last of Us, Life is Strange, nu-Tomb Raider, etc.

When I was 14 I wanted Halo 3 on PS3 or PC

343 Halo I don't want to touch at all
This is one of my hot takes but Halo was mostly fun because of the largely unmoderated social component.

If Halo 2 came out today where the majority of games don't even have voice chat and you can be banned for trash talking it wouldn't be nearly as popular.

Theoretically it is not the worst thing to have shorter experiences. It's even was suppressed to be their strategy with game pass to certain extent. Shorter games that were good and kept you subscribing until the next Stanfield, or COD game. But how did this game take 4 years at bare minimum? They spent a year making each hour?

Maybe they hired the Kentucky Route Zero devs.
