Xenoblade Chronicles X

The main story may not be much, but it has one thing over the first Xenoblade, the story behind the side quests. Remember that one side quest near the end that was completely different then the others? There's more of that type of quest in this game and I really loved how they handled it. Seeing how the people of New LA deals with everything is really interesting and rather down to earth, as you could see some of the actions happen in real life.

The side quest are well written and better implemented than Xenoblade 1 but in the end most of them also end in fetch quests. Still is nice when you end exploring optional/secret areas or modify game areas like the purification plant or the new xenos living in NLA.

Fucking finally, knowing the company behind it though, they'll remake the original and charge us for a DLC to get an expansion on the ending before getting a sequel.

I really liked X, one of the best exploration games I played in making the world feel open rather than either too similar or just gated by levels.

Honestly, after 8 years I'm fine with that, at least its something. Although to be fair, the remaster of XC1 included the ending epilogue expansion as part of the game, if they do a remaster or re-release they would probably include it, only doing DLC for a brand new title. I wouldn't expect any news until next year at the earliest though, unless they specifically released the 3 expansion early because they have X something in the works soon.

Got the game the day it came out. Have fond memorise exploring the world while chatting with people on 4chan, sharing info with echother. Happy for the X bros.

So it comes out tomorrow. Hopefully it sells well and doesn't have too much new shit because I'd rather not pay Nintendo a dime again for a brand new cliffhanger after 80 hours.

Any "current year" tweaks to the text/dialog compared to the original, or is it still largely the same as the Wii U release?

Just making sure no monkey's paw or other surprises.

They didn't undo anything, and that also means religious references have still been removed in the translation of the base game (such as Testaments to Reclaimers) and you get name changes of things and general localizer fanfiction. Fortunately it seems like with the new content either Monolith stepped in or Treehouse learned their place since it doesn't hold anything back and like I said before talks about God, the biblical apocalypse and quotes Revelations directly, although they never name the Bible, but G is capitalized. Though I can't confirm if they altered anything in the English version or not yet, but to me it seemed a lot better, less cringy localizer dialogue and the tone was more serious, very big whiplash when you get to new stuff next to the 2015 lol quirky Treehouse stuff.

If I recall correctly off the top of my head there's a sidequest (I think it was one of Hope's affinity missions) in this game about a group of Ma-on that
learn about faith and follows a human cult leader to understand humans and divine worship, to test their faith the they go through a literal "trail by fire" in Cauldros.
It ends with the cult leader shooting a Ma-on in the back to reinforce the theme of xenophobia throughout the game by using his faith to justify shooting a converted xeno with you killing the cult leader and his group and reaffriming to the Ma-on they "dindu nuffin".
So to hear that the usual NA Treehouse "chicanery" thusfar has not affected this game is reassuring at the least. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are some minor "re-localization" changes that slip through the cracks that do shit up the original JP intent in the added DE stuff though.

I hope the music is untouched, there's something i love about the UHH..... YEAH in NLA
Music is all the same except they did some arrangements of a couple of the tracks, most apparent is the flight music, but it has an option to switch back, and stuck in a couple of new tracks into some cutscenes to make it less repetitive. The new final final boss theme is an arrangement of Key We've lost and its the best track in the game in my opinion when paired with the scene when it plays

I looked at the ending online and it looks the same. I feel like the graphics are even worse than the Wii U version somehow. Characters look like action figures and there's no shading. But I'm not autistic enough to go frame by frame and look for the difference, at the very least it's not an improvement.

The original Wii U ch12 ending or the new ch13 ending? I only saw contextless screenshots from /v/ but it looks like you and Elma find a new Earth that's either Xenosaga Lost Jerusalem or XC3's post ending world

Maybe it's post game stuff because the YouTube ending was the original with some extra talking in the end.

I really hope they don't do even more gay crossover shit and just stick to exploring the planet with the original plot.

Bought it. Plugged, booted, intro cinematic looks even more gorgeous even on just the Switch's screen. Then I got to the character creation and the moment I heard the music I mentally went to 2015 again.

It's Goddamned good to be back.

What I saw of previews suggests it went the route of Xenoblade 1 and the post XC2 anime-styled aesthethics, which are not up everyone's alley.

No sir I don't like it. Xenoblade X being gritty made it feel like a classic mecha anime. Similar to how the anime aesthetic of 2 made it feel like shonen anime.
Agreed. I didn't think too much about it in the remaster of the original Xenoblade, but I liked that one less than X. The more colourful characters hasn't quite made me dislike the game yet, but it's also been ten years since I played the original so my memory is a bit hazy. Though, looking at the screenshot I posted, Elma does look more happy-go lucky in the remaster compared to her older, more solemn look. Now there's more pep and "We'll win through the power of friendship"-energy in her eyes.
