So there's already three episodes out but it's not being discussed, which I'm a bit surprised because the first episode so far was pretty strong and I thought this is based on anime or a comic or whatever so it would have more hype here. I personally have no fucking idea what it's supposed to be about aside from the fact that there's only one guy left alive and it's somehow not porn.

I gotta say, though, I'm surprised this is being described as a feminist show because so far the only message im getting from the show is that women are untrustworthy cunt. The only character that wasn't annoying as fuck is the dead end loser who survives. And the monkey.

So hopefully we get more of those two and less of the women.

Is it true that the show added the detail that trans women don't disappear despite being biologically male? Because if they did then I'm not watching it. Defeats the whole point

I thought it was the opposite, that all transgender women died but that the transgender men stayed alive, so that was how they were gonna deal with gender vs biological sex but I could be wrong

I'd be ok with that tbh

It's probably not true, but imagine that the apocalypse comes and trannies would rather get humanity extinct than not cut off their dick.

I'm just starting the second episode but so far I agree with the premise: if all men died, civilization would immediately crumble and turn post-apocalyptic right away because women wouldn't be able to cope with shit.

Lmao at calling this "feminist", even in the opening in the white house, literally all of the women are just watching the tv screens and shellshocked, crying, not having any idea what to do.

Ok so regarding the tranny issues, there are trans men (who survived because they don't have the Y chromosome) while all the trans women (with the Y chromosome) have died

So yeah at worse you'll see a woman with a beard once in a while but no actual trannies pretending to be women, and I'm ok with that

Second episode wasn't as good as the first one, all women still extremely unlikeable. Hoping it's not just gonna be people sitting around moping and whining in the post-apocalypse, I've got the walking dead for that.

No idea how accurate, but…

It's not.

Sure there's the occasional dumb liberal comment, but for the most part it's definitely not woke in any way. If anything it makes women look fucking terrible. They can't work together, keep backstabbing each others, etc..

Third episode literally opens on three women discussing and two of them going to the third 'well i know we said we would all stick together but we got a better opportunity while you were gone, so we then decided that we were gonna leave you behind to starve to death im sure you understand'

edit: lmao ok whoever wrote this hates woman. Girl starts to run on a flat surface, doesn't make it more than 10 steps before flailing around, falling down like a retard and breaking her leg to the point her bone sticks out. ON FUCKING GRASS.

Holy shit and then almost immediately the democrats are portrayed as people who literally say fuck the constitution and are ready to completely subvert the country to take over our government because the person who should be in power is someone they don't like and they are going all out to install themselves to stay in power because they are on 'the right side of history'.

And now a woman is trying to dig a grave and she's fucking failing at doing even that. Then she just gives up right away and storms off. It's fucking hilarious.

Fucking based tv show.

edit: and towards the end you have this woman engineer which has hundreds of thousands of lives depending on her and she won't do her job because she has the sads because she lost her family and doesn't want to work, and after she gets a speech telling her how brave and special she is, then she agrees to actually save the lives of those people. It's a fucking parody.

How are they going to tie in a real life current event like literal looters and rioters destroying a city and TDS into a zombie dystopia that has nothing to do with either or? Are they advocating for nihilism?

Forget current day meshing real life politics with fictional young adult drama; at this point, this is just confusing for people who read the comic book version.

There's been a ton of threads in A&N because the astroturf marketing has been pushing the troon angle pretty hard. I enjoyed the series while I was reading it, but it's not an epoch-defining work or anything. If you're curious about the story but don't want to devote years to watching it or hours to reading it:

Dr. Mann's father killed all the men through morphogenetic fields because once you start cloning humans males aren't required and nature kills them except for Mann's father and Yorick because of Ampersand's antibodies because Mann's father made Ampersand to be a bioweapon against his daughter's research but Ampersand escaped or some bullshit, it's not clear if we're supposed to accept that or not. They find Beth, who was also looking for Yorick, and the two of them fuck, then she admits she wanted to break up before the gendercide and Yorick immediately dumps her before either of them even put their clothes back on. Later that night Yorick declares his loves to Agent 355 (real name: Peace) and she's immediately murdered by the Israelis before either of them even take their clothes off. Then there's a huge time jump and Dr. Mann has perfected human cloning so there's young Yoricks running around opening pickle jars for them or something, I don't know why they made men again. Original Yorick is bound in a straitjacket and locked in a dark room full of Ampersand clones by his daughter La Presidente de la France because he made a joke about suicide on his 86th birthday. "Eighty-six," get it? Neither did his daughter, so she faked his death and immured him like the family mutant in an Italian horror movie. Old Yorick gives Young Yorick a terrible speech, deploys the monkeys as a distraction, and escapes. La fin.

There. Now you know the answers to all the mysteries they're setting up and how the show will end so you don't have to watch it.

I remember liking the comic halfway through its run but never got around to following up on the conclusion.
And that was a long-ass time ago so I don't remember much, but I thought it had more of an apocalyptic vibe than the show so far and spent more time on Yorick surviving initially, whereas that was only a couple scenes in the show so far and he's almost a minor character at this point.

Problem with that is, all these bitches are irritating. It's amusing that they're so hopeless (I'd like to see the dude version of the show where women get snapped out of existence and the earth becomes a golden utopia overnight) but the thing is we have to listen to them screech and whine, unlike in a comic.
Y himself also seems a lot softer and less sympathetic in this format as well when we do see him.

the tranny issues
Again my recollection is vague but iirc trans-men were kind of a minor thing in the comic while the show frontloaded a whole squad of em (then made em assholes, lol).
They're mostly gone now and I can understand it from a marketing bait-and-switch perspective in 2021, I guess. I wasn't too annoyed by it but dramatically it might have made more sense to hold them back for later (so the state of things could be established better and we could see rather than be told how they interact with the zombitch hordes), though on the other hand I can see the value in that switcheroo if the show continues to paint everyone as being this inept and awful.

Decently entertaining so far but by the third episode I'm already watching in the background while I do other shit.

I think the reason why people aren't talking about it is because their misguided woke marketing alienated people.
Times have changed, people are actively put off by woke shit, it's not 2015 anymore.
There's so much entertainment out there that you have to fight for people's attention.
An outdated marketing approach, especially one based on partisan politics, will not win people over.

This thing should be called "Y this show".

The comic was kinda okay (with some parts requiring the reader to shut off his brain tbh), but this new show? Fuck me, this could have been pretty good, but the entire project is hamstrung by their heavyhanded political message that we've seen and heard a thousand times already.

Eh, there's a couple of possible explanations given in the show, such as a cursed artifact, some sort of virus etc.
None of the explanations were definite afaik and just offered as possible explanations, but no one was ever described as the TRUE and HONEST one.
