Yooka Laylee

The DKC reboots legitimately have some of the best art design in any game, ever. Why would they even try to fuck with that when some Unity asset flip castle/factory levels are the best they can come up with? It's just embarrassing.

Instead of trying something completely different they should have tried actually getting the Banjo-like gameplay right this time. Going with something completely new ruins their chances of improving on these mistakes from before.

I kinda like the 1st game it wasnt flawless but it was fun, never had much of nostalgia for Banjo or Donkey Kong games since I never played em. So gonna look forward to this, maybe theyll fix the issues of the 1st game.

What's there to fix when it's a completely different kind of platformer

When your sequel (?) to a 3D platformer ditches the mechanics of the first and becomes a 2D platformer like everything the fuck else, you know the 3D Platforming genre is pretty much dead. (:_(

Well of course there's Mario. But he has that market pretty much cornered with the exception of a few.
These were remakes, but I’d still suggest Crash and Spyro on PS4, Xbone, PC (Spyro’s rumored on PC), etc if you like the late 90s platformers

Played them. Love the Spyro games but I would love for something new and innovative.

I'd love Rare Replay on Switch
Hell I'll take a compilation with just Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Conker, Perfect Dark, and Jet Force Gemini.

You realize that Rayman did the exact same thing 2 and 3 were 3d Platformers and then origins and legends went back to 2D.

Origins and Legends were good as well as Rayman 2 and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

I think the issue is less 2.5D platformers being bad and more the fact that Playtonic seems to be doing something that’d be cheaper, quicker, and less resource intensive instead of just building upon the previous game. Plus, it kinda goes against the original appeal of Yooka: going back to collectathon platformers in an era crowded by 2D platformers and cinematic 3D platformers (i.e. Spiderman)

Yeah, everything in Yooka-Laylee really wouldn't hold up on its own if it didn't hang off of Banjo-Kazooie's coattails. It lived and died on Banjo-Kazooie nostalgia.

This new game looks like it's just doing what DKC:TF and Rayman Legends did much earlier, and better. The overworld stuff is kinda neat, I could go for a Mario 3D Land-esque Yooka-Laylee, but the 2D platformer stuff just doesn't appeal to me at all. You know your game needs one more look-over when even Super Lucky's Tale looks ten times more appealing.

The trailer makes the new one look so uninspired. The character is just running at the center of the screen in clip after clip. The choice they made with the sound is bizarre as well, maybe they haven't completed much of the sound design for the levels yet, but allowing the "huhg" sound when jumping to be heard through the music makes the game appear completely dead, the only sound coming from the level/game is that jumping sound and maybe some water noises.

Weird and boring. It also looks slow, DKC isn't necessarily a fast game but the way the trailer is cut it appears as if the character is just trudging forward with no change of pace, so it looks slow.
