UN You Will Eat Bugs — and Like It - That is the actual title of the article

We need a sustainable option for feeding nearly 10 billion people. Creepy-crawlies could be the way.

Picture this: It’s the year 2093. Your great, great grandaughter is hosting a dinner party for her friends tonight in honor of the total solar eclipse. She starts on the bug board, taking care to assemble the tinned locusts. The hot honey hornets are next. After that, it’s the scorpion kimchi and the ant guacamole. Then she takes the baked casu martzu — a Sardinian cheese that contains live insect larvae — out of the oven and tops it with faux caviar. Wanting to keep dessert simple, she drone-ordered some Micolino’s ice cream. Guests can top it with cricket sprinkles if they want.

If this future sounds far-fetched to you, fine. But it’s 2024, and we’ve already bulldozed our way through cheese plates, butter boards and hummus spreads. In 70 years, who’s to say we won’t have cockroach charcuterie?

Italy’s deputy prime minister hopes he doesn’t live to see the day. “STOP insect flour-based foods in school canteens,” Matteo Salvini tweeted last month. But David Fickling says insect farming ought not to scare us so much. “Insects are highly efficient at converting waste matter into high-quality protein, making their consumption a potentially more sustainable way to feed a planet approaching 10 billion people,” he writes.

You’re not alone if that skeeves you out. “Whether it’s the grubs farmed by Dave Bautista in Blade Runner: 2049 or Charlton Heston in Soylent Green yelling that food is being made from ‘people,’ there are few things that provoke as visceral a reaction as the prospect that ecological disaster might force you to eat something gross,” he writes.

Just last year there was a dystopian conspiracy theory about governments forcing enslaved people to eat bugs. But these scary narratives couldn’t be further from the truth: “They're fine for snacking, but insect protein has its greatest potential as nutrient rich, climate-friendly livestock feed,” as Amanda Little has previously explained. By making animal food out of fly larvae and mealworms, poultry and livestock meat should become much more affordable for human consumption. Read the whole thing.

Pretty much lol. It's because they are eaten or ground whole and there is no economic way to butcher them. Whatever is in their digestive tract winds up in yours.
People eat the digestive tracts of pigs and sheep.

Who's this "we"? Last time I checked niggers, poos and chinks were the ones breeding like rabbits. Feed them literal shit for all I care, I'm going back to my beef patty.

  • Agree
Reactions: pot of sneed
This just reads like a collective advert for bug meal companies. Is the journo a stockholder or something?

So why not just make farming more efficient then instead of running some nasty PR campaign to make us eat bugs? None of the eat the bugs people can ever explain this since they're so wedded to their creepy dystopian future based on "sustainability." I mean most of the projected population growth is in countries where people eat bugs every day. Why do we expect them to start eating chicken or god forbid the dreaded worst meat of all, beef, which is LITERALLY destroying the planet!
Because farming is state controlled now, goy.

Actually fucking demonic. You will never hate journalists enough. The worst part is that they're smug about it. Yes chud, eating crickets and larvae IS the morally correct option! Wouldn't want to be a radical, would you?

If being radical means eating normal fucking food, than yes. I would rather die than not be a radical.

But what if the person cleaning them doesn't do a perfect job?
@Android raptor What? You could say this about literally anything from bugs to meat to fruit and vegetables. At least they can be cleaned. You cannot efficiently clean bugs in the same way before eating them. That's why "edible" bugs are always sold whole or as a paste or ground into something else.

Of course the bug pushers know this. They don't plan on eating bugs themselves.

Of course not, they're goodthinkers. Eating the bugs is for the horrible white people who destroyed the world in the first place. And wogs, but we won't talk about that.

I dont see how bugs are a solution to 4 Billion niggers starving in Africa...
Its a lack of brains and not farmland that leads to the starvation issues we already see in africa.

India alone is currently feeding 2 billion people, and they have alot of untapped farmland.
The west and south america have even more unused farmland.
We can feed 2 Billion more without issue if we invest a little bit and cut down some red tape...

Ever since the green revolution, the only real cause of famine in the world is from logistical and political issues.... not lack of food.

If someone's starving out there? It's because we can't GET a meal TO them in time, not that there's no food to be had and for them to eat someone else must starve....

This planet has made a surplus of food for sixty plus years and continues unabated today, despite all the doomsayers who claimed that it was unsustainable and would break down any day now (tm) for.... sixty plus years.

I'm starting to think this isn't about sustainability because then they wouldn't be encouraging infinity niggers and wogs to come to the west. The real intention when it comes to making the plebs eat bugs is purely a humilation ritual - the elites will dine on wagyu steaks and the finest of caviers laughing it up about how they got the idiot masses to choke down crickets and die from chitinese disease.

Don't forget "being expressly told to not shit in their clean water supply, doing it anyway and wondering why they keep getting sick". More help, please!

I mean:
It's a matter of calories gained versus effort/maintenance issue. Raw protein value doesn't matter when you need like 10k crickets to equal a steak. It's also why it's stupid as fuck for people to want it to become more common or even replace regular agriculture.

Hyperbole on the 10k, I think, but I believe you get the point. It's a lot harder to turn a field of grass into a shitload of edible insects than it is to just have a herd of cattle. As far as the taboo goes, it's because insects cause a natural disgust reaction, a lot of them. The places that don't have that mostly had a shitload of famines, and as common as you might think they'd be in the past they were much more common, much more recently, in the regions that don't have as much an issue with it.

I'll remind everyone here what was once turned into the breadbasket of Africa, in a century had the natives foraging for rats and insects again.
They're not even remotely plausible as a sustainable food source even when you're talking about mass production. Large-scale indoor climate controlled arcologies growing ten stories of farmland are the actual way you'd solve the protein problem of the world if engineers and globohomo people weren't fucking retards with a fetish for humiliating those who aren't super wealthy.
it's so fucking retarded to anybody who considers the concept for longer than five minutes that I'm convinced the motive for this asinine push for insect-eating boils down to "Klaus Schwab watched Snowpiercer once and thought it was cool and futuristic".

Alternatively,

Skin journalists alive; turn journalist hides into gloves, and shoes, and snazzy holsters. Feed journalist meat to dogs. Turn journalist skellingtons into bonemeal plant food. Feed journalists to wood-chippers and make mulch. Attach millstones to journalist necks and sink them to create coral reefs. Burn journalists alive in journalist-fired power stations for sustainable energy production. Feed journalists to polar bears. Feed journalists to sharks. Feed journalists to boa constrictors. Vivisect journalists to advance science. Make journalists fight each other to the death, in an arena, for entertainment. Hang journalists to test rope samples. Hang journalists to test piano wire. Throw journalists from tall buildings to measure gravity. Sterilize journalists. Shoot journalists in the fucking face.
