I'd like to think that there's a balance to be struck. Of course there are more productive hobbies than watching lolcows, but who said we can only ever focus on one hobby?

There are several arcs for Lolcows that I MUST know the ending to.also I have to know if CWC will get out of jail and return to his house now
Honestly, one of the biggest reasons I stopped lurking and made an account is because it turns out you can actually have some intelligent conversations here. It's not just reddit-tier faggotry, which is a nice thing.I agree.
If I don't post "nigger" at least once a day, I'll fucking explode.
Also, the Farms is not only for lolcows and drama. You should really lurk more.
No actually I've been steadily improving physical health for about a year. Started out with once or twice a week but now it's everyday. Never felt better.OP's gonna work out at the gym for like a month and then return to his usual habits of idly browsing internet bullshit on his phone and indulging in mindless entertainment
The site wasn't, I just mean mindless internet browsing in general. Youtube was a big one for me, 4chan or reddit have the same effect ultimately... Wasting time. And no the site isn't shit, but it's important to realize how little time we have in this world, all our hopes and dreams, to reach them and realize our collective goals we have to focus on good/productive things (studying, working, socializing, exercising) the vast majority of our time.Yes, technology ruined the world and society. No, it's not going away. If this site is affecting your mental health that much I feel sorry for you but it doesn't mean the site is shit.
Instead of this or youtube, you could be studying to be a better data analyst.Lol no. I browse this site whilst waiting for data analysis programs to run o my universities shitty virtual desktop. It's either this, or I watch shitty youtube videos all day. At least there's bants on here.
True, I believe that a large percentage of the population is prone to overindulgence on lazy things that feel good. That's why so many people are obese, because they just can't resist the temptation and low effort dopamine hits. But what is low effort is not what's satisfying. It's satisfying to do the hard work because overcoming that obstacle is a better long term dopamine hit.I MEAN technically anyone can indulge in Internet drama and also dedicate time to self improvement everyday. It's called MODERATION.
I haven't overindulged (compared to the average) and I have a job as a software engineer. But since this revelation that's slowly come to me over a year, in dedicating more time to studying, productivity and self improvement, I went from working at a decent tech company to Amazon. Oh and being single to having a strong relationship. And from being chubby to fit. If you want to get to the top of your respective careers, you really have to devote more time to it and forgo time wasting stimulation. I think everyone would get true happiness from focusing on what really matters in life and tossing the rest.Overindulgence of any kind is certainly a bad thing, but if it's gotten to that point for you, you really only have yourself to blame. The vast majority of people here likely have jobs and social lives, and the internet is something to do when you come home at the end of the day to unwind. Chin up, OP. Touch grass.
How do you quantify doing well? Is there any place you'd like to be, that you aren't at? Do you ever feel the desire to reach your full potential? And I don't mean cross out all online interactions, just most of it. You have to really take a step back, take a third person view of your life and how you divvy your time, and think: Would my life be better with or without this aspect in it? Do I need it? Does it benefit me as a person?Certainly there are people here who overindulge this site and take it far more seriously than required. I'm doing well in my life that I don't really resonate with your message though I understand where you're coming from. As others have said now, technology is not going away and we need to be able to discipline ourselves in moderating how much time we spend online. I'm not certain it's a viable solution to cross out any kind of online interaction because there are intelligent discussions to be had here from time to time, despite the inherent nature of this forum. What you get out of anything here is entirely on you.
