Oh, and I have one of these:

The voice box has long since stopped working, obviously.

As well as a very odd looking and beaten up Mario doll somewhere.

The one and only plushie I've ever owned, used to snake this lil' fella all around my body when I was a little kid. I'm not even sure where I got it from but it has been a staple in any bedroom I've slept more than a month in. The girls I've been with thought it was cute as hell too and loved playing with it, talk about long-term value.

Stuffed animals are turbo girl bait. If I tried to explain it, I'd never finish.

Is that guy an IKEA draught excluder? Many years ago my rented flat was only made liveable by a squad of those guys.

On my mums somewhat recent death, I "inherited" all of my old childhood teddies that I haven't seen in.... a very long time.

No I absolutely did not cry seeing my battered old 101 dalmation teddy "penny". Not me, no way!

I don't want to store them but I just can't bring myself to get rid of them. Arghh!
That might be a good idea though I feel like these ones are too… used. They are very old and very grubby now after having been sat in a bin bag in my mums loft for so long. I might see if I can sort out some of the nicer not-so sentimental ones (if there are any!) to donate. :)

…It’s odd isn’t it? The connection we can feel to some fluff and cotton.
WASH THEM!
1. It feels nice. It's a nice little craft activity.
2. It makes them more presentable as "decor" around the house.
That's what I did. I have one of my childhood teddys right near me. He was all covered in dust and dirt, so I went out and bought new stuffing, opened up his ear, and washed him by hand with soap and water until the water ran clean. Then I let him air-dry and restuffed him.

No way. No fucking way. I have the baby leopard! Still purrs and everything. I didn't recognize it at first from @Adiemus' post, but @Kari Kamiya's photo was way more obvious.
Have we discovered a Kitty-Kitty-Kittens to Kiwi pipeline?
I had the calico one! I have no idea what happened to mine, but maybe I can snag one on Ebay or something for my baby. I loved that thing, carried it everywhere. KKK to Kiwi pipeline is real.

I still have my kissy-nose Simba/Nala that my dad gave me for Christmas one year. I have this Simba, too (not my pic), but I gave him a haircut when I was little, not realizing it wouldn't grow back, lol. I wish mine still looked this good. Is there any way to restore the fluffiness?! Jk, completely missed the post just above me, I got so excited by Kitty Kitty Kittens, lmao.

Check out the video I linked above. There's a way to "brush out" the fur to make it look better. It won't look new, but it definitely works. I can vouch for it myself.

I got so excited by the mention of Kitty Kitty Kittens that I totally missed your post, but I'm about to break out the old cat brush and give it a go. :heart-full:

@NoReturn

You have inspired me, if I have any sunny weather this weekend I will wash my more sentimental plushies. Even if I end up just sticking them back in the chest, it might be a good cathartic exercise for me.

Not going to even consider any repairs… I tried textiles at school… never again.

This is not okay, what the fuck? Why did they have to make them so cute, soft and squishy just to get soggy and dirty like that? I could've gone my whole life without this tidbit of info (:_(

I hope plenty of kids out there were just as dumb as me and rescued these lil' guys from their cruel fates and gave them a warm and loving nest by their bedsides.

I’m sorry! I was just excited to see one again!

If it helps, my flatmates and I were deeply grateful to snake squad. They got us through many “we can’t afford heating” months. They were regularly washed and went with us to our new homes. I suspect I still have one or two in my old boxes in my attic.

I always feel bad using household items shaped like animals for their intended purpose if they have a face on them. It makes me feel like I'm mistreating them :( I'll take my puzzle pieces
