The initial wipe was because of whiteglove/the thread, which most of his crew were on board with.
From what Rogue told me, he did see getting doxed as an almost inevitably, but he ultimately wanted to be able to get out unscathed when he finally decided to hang up the persona without it ever being tied to the real him.
