YouTube now can show you 60-minute unskippable ads

I blame the pajeets at Google for this.

Most ads on YT now is some Chinese anime porn game (against their TOS), a get rich quick scheme (against their TOS), or a straight up scam (against their TOS.)

They deserve to die.
Anything to ”support” creators who stupidly decide to have their eggs in one basket and let YT be their PRIMARY source of income.

Tbh this just seems like a glitch/mistake and then an automated AI written email response.

There's literally zero possibility that Google genuinely wants to implement unskippable hour long ads. Like let's be realistic here
If Google could somehow force people to watch nothing but ads then they could charge their customers WHAT EVER for their ads.

If they could, they ABSOLUTELY would.

NO POWER ON EARTH WILL FORCE ME TO WATCH ADS.

I WILL NOT BE ADVERTISED TO WITHOUT MY CONSENT.

AND THAT CONSENT, I WILL NEVER GRANT.

Brave + Disconnect + AdNauseum for good measure. You deserve this, Google. You deserve WORSE.

they got what amounts to an automated response that saw the word 'ad'. i'm not sure why they think this is a real human response. it doesn't even have anything to do with the problem in question.
If the corpobot wants to say it is human then we'll just take it at its word.

Install adblock. Install multiple ad blockers.

What was that ad for anyway? I feel like they should be bullied too.
It literally looks like a minecraft playthrough video.

Several years back I had youtube feed me a random, non-commercialized video as an ad a couple of times. I thought it might have been because I keep my google preferences and history sanitized, the algorithm glitches out and has absolutely no idea what to show me.

You know how Youtube shows you those weird premade playlists called "Mixes", that are just like an endless slop trough of videos similar to what you've been watching?

A disturbing amount of people actually watch those, especially on smart TVs. Or just leave on Autoplay. A lot of people really do just go to the Trending tab and watch content strictly from the most, pardon the term, "NPC" content creators on the market. They watch it like you'd watch a cable TV channel. Or they look up "football news" or "Fortnite update" and click the first video they see and let the algorithm decide from there.

I have been at someone's house and they watched one of those entire full video ads because they just couldn't be bothered to click the button on the remote to skip it.
To the type of people that have YouTube on a TV and are basically watching it as a brainrot pig trough, an hour long unskippable ad basically means someone put a sponsored guest show on your TV channel. Either turn the TV to a new channel or you just put up with it and hope something better is on later.

So, the mere concept of an hour long unskippable ad is just nonsense if you're someone who uses Youtube as a platform to actively search for content to actively watch, but if you're just looking to get your mind rotted by the Idiot Box, it's par for the course.

I also remember some car company partnered with the Lofi Girl, so people watching lofi music would (likely unknowingly) end up watching this hour long compilation of lofi music but it was actually a car ad the whole time. Definitely a trap for people listening to music via Autoplay/Mixes, especially as Youtube ads tend to play before the video.

Automaker Nissan recently took a massive gamble: To promote its new electric Ariya SUV, the car company began running a four-hour ad on YouTube. What could have led to outrage instead became a viral success, attracting more than 17 million views and thousands of positive comments.
“This is how commercials should be,” reads one of those comments, while another commenter exclaims: “I didn’t even notice this was [an] ad! I love it so much.”
The secret to Nissan’s success was that the ad was specifically produced for a popular YouTube channel: Lofi Girl, a 24/7 livestream of relaxing instrumental beats, accompanied by the animated video of a girl penning notes while a cat peacefully naps in the background. Nissan’s ad not only uses a similar soundtrack, but also a closely aligned aesthetic. The video features an animation of a woman driving through a beautiful countryside, very occasionally passing subtly placed billboards for the Nissan Ariya.

A news website, Androidauthority.com, has decided to contact Google about this and this is what they got:
Why haven't chinks tried to tap into this market? There is huge potential in taking away clients from youtube. A platform with slightly more reasonable ads would probably fuck with jewtube big time, plus they get the chance to censor whatever the fuck they want and promote agendas beneficial to them. I know they already have bilibili but a western friendly alternative would probably be beneficial for them.

>Invidious is completely down
>Unskippable hour long ads when you watch from Youtube directly

I think this is what Metokur meant when he said the internet was being killed so that Toyota shareholders could be happy you saw their ads.
I remember that quote, it was something like "You can't sell toyotas when people are saying "nigger" in video's comments".

Years ago, I remember not realizing my mom had Youtube on the TV and there was a fucking half hour long ad for a hair loss remedy. Everyone was already doing something else and I only noticed after wondering why the music stopped after 5 or so minutes. Thankfully it was skippable, but that shit apparently has only gotten worse.
Adblock bros stay winning.
The first time I installed adblock was when my PS3 youtube app showed me a 40 minute unskippable ad for Dubai and I can't go back. If I watch something at a friends house every advert is just gay niggers and "Come to Dubai and be imprisoned for kissing your wife in public, see our beautiful goats, sand and do not see our women".

If things get worse, someone will probably make a client or browser add-on that lets you queue up videos you want to watch and download them in the background.

It would sit through the ads so you don’t have to, meaning they never actually get watched. You could even set it up to automatically grab new uploads from your subscriptions.

The only way to stop such a thing would be to introduce CAPTCHAs everywhere…

That's Bilibili but its not foreigner friendly and the UI is a cluttered mess.

I want to believe this would be the breaking point for normies but I know better; the stupidest ones would even think it was fun.
There's an overton window of ads. The worse they get, the more accepting people become of less aggressive ones. Getting two short ads in a row used to be a big deal, nowadays normies are just thankful that they're at least short.
