Culture Youtube gonna be tougher with content control, working with organizations such as ADL - Pepe is gonna be banned.

https://youtube.googleblog.com/2017/08/an-update-on-our-commitment-to-fight.html

A little over a month ago, we told you about the four new steps we’re taking to combat terrorist content on YouTube: better detection and faster removal driven by machine learning, more experts to alert us to content that needs review, tougher standards for videos that are controversial but do not violate our policies, and more work in the counter-terrorism space.

We wanted to give you an update on these commitments:

Better detection and faster removal driven by machine learning: We’ve always used a mix of technology and human review to address the ever-changing challenges around controversial content on YouTube. We recently began developing and implementing cutting-edge machine learning technology designed to help us identify and remove violent extremism and terrorism-related content in a scalable way. We have started rolling out these tools and we are already seeing some positive progress:
  • Speed and efficiency: Our machine learning systems are faster and more effective than ever before. Over 75 percent of the videos we've removed for violent extremism over the past month were taken down before receiving a single human flag.
  • Accuracy: The accuracy of our systems has improved dramatically due to our machine learning technology. While these tools aren’t perfect, and aren’t right for every setting, in many cases our systems have proven more accurate than humans at flagging videos that need to be removed.
  • Scale: With over 400 hours of content uploaded to YouTube every minute, finding and taking action on violent extremist content poses a significant challenge. But over the past month, our initial use of machine learning has more than doubled both the number of videos we've removed for violent extremism, as well as the rate at which we’ve taken this kind of content down.
We are encouraged by these improvements, and will continue to develop our technology in order to make even more progress. We are also hiring more people to help review and enforce our policies, and will continue to invest in technical resources to keep pace with these issues and address them responsibly.

More experts: Of course, our systems are only as good as the the data they’re based on. Over the past weeks, we have begun working with more than 15 additional expert NGOs and institutions through our Trusted Flagger program, including the Anti-Defamation League, the No Hate Speech Movement, and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. These organizations bring expert knowledge of complex issues like hate speech, radicalization, and terrorism that will help us better identify content that is being used to radicalize and recruit extremists. We will also regularly consult these experts as we update our policies to reflect new trends. And we’ll continue to add more organizations to our network of advisors over time.

Tougher standards: We’ll soon be applying tougher treatment to videos that aren’t illegal but have been flagged by users as potential violations of our policies on hate speech and violent extremism. If we find that these videos don’t violate our policies but contain controversial religious or supremacist content, they will be placed in a limited state. The videos will remain on YouTube behind an interstitial, won’t be recommended, won’t be monetized, and won’t have key features including comments, suggested videos, and likes. We’ll begin to roll this new treatment out to videos on desktop versions of YouTube in the coming weeks, and will bring it to mobile experiences soon thereafter. These new approaches entail significant new internal tools and processes, and will take time to fully implement.

Early intervention and expanding counter-extremism work: We’ve started rolling out features from Jigsaw’s Redirect Method to YouTube. When people search for sensitive keywords on YouTube, they will be redirected towards a playlist of curated YouTube videos that directly confront and debunk violent extremist messages. We also continue to amplify YouTube voices speaking out against hate and radicalization through our YouTube Creators for Change program. Just last week, the U.K. chapter of Creators for Change, Internet Citizens, hosted a two-day workshop for 13-18 year-olds to help them find a positive sense of belonging online and learn skills on how to participate safely and responsibly on the internet. We also pledged to expand the program’s reach to 20,000 more teens across the U.K.

And over the weekend, we hosted our latest Creators for Change workshop in Bandung, Indonesia, where creators teamed up with Indonesia’s Maarif Institute to teach young people about the importance of diversity, pluralism, and tolerance.

Altogether, we have taken significant steps over the last month in our fight against online terrorism. But this is not the end. We know there is always more work to be done. With the help of new machine learning technology, deep partnerships, ongoing collaborations with other companies through the Global Internet Forum, and our vigilant community we are confident we can continue to make progress against this ever-changing threat. We look forward to sharing more with you in the months ahead.

The YouTube Team

This gonna be gud.

Five year olds shouldn't be watching Youtube. But Youtube has replaced TV for many people. So plopping lil' Billy in front of Youtube all day is a thing that happens a lot. So many dumb parents give their kid the phone or tablet and there you go. Babysitting.

Five year olds aren't in the market for products. They don't have any money. Advertisers aren't aiming directly at them. However, they may not want mommy and daddy to see bad videos being sponsored by Coke.

But how many people actually see an ad being run on something that offends them and automatically assume the sponsor supports the offending idea? I don't. Because I think of ads as annoyance clusters and usually don't pay attention to them. Maybe more conservative types that think anything not sponsored by Jesus himself is the devil incarnate.

Maybe the fact that so many kids are walking around glued to Youtube all day has raised the alarm. And we've got to go through the same motions television did. But it does feel a bit more sinister than bleeping out "damn" on the Late Movie because some kids might still be awake.

It sure does feel like the internet dark ages is upon us. I don't want to sperg out over it. But I'm not very happy about all of this either. You give an inch and they take a mile. All of these people whining about wanting the internet to be a safe space with a big "No Bullying" sign plastered over it don't realise that once they remove what is triggering them the powers that be are coming for them next. I've said before that people like this are blind. They are in "woke" comas. Censoring the internet has been a huge desire since its inception. And SJW crybabies are nothing more than tools to pave the way.

The people that are happy with the policies at places like Twitter and Youtube are just behind everybody else on the chopping block. But stay woke guys.

I don't think it's quite so hopeless. It certainly looks terrible, mind, but honestly, I think that's sort of the point.

See, knowing what we do about how these nutters work, demoralization and disarmament are a major component of how they function. The goal is always to make those who are on the receiving end feel isolated, and to correspondingly believe that they're powerless. It's a big reason why they resort to the same tactics, over and over again: deplatforming, cutting off revenue streams, making platforms toxic for everyone else but them, and of course, the never-ending carousel of fucking Entryism.

We've seen it, arguably, hundreds of times since we first started covering these sorts of loons on the Farms, from the lonely tumblrettes trying to get alleged white supremacists fired to Wu's previous ability to get people banned solely on her say-so even with no rules broken on Twitter, to the endless septic tank that is the Norasphere. This is to say nothing of just how often it is that Brianna's Law (the moral character of a lolcow tends to be inversely proportionate to how much they virtue signal) and Gallant's Law (the individuals shrieking loudest about harassment at any given point tend to be the biggest harassers themselves) kicks in.

The point I'm getting at with this is that them going so heavy-handed, at least to me, macks not of confidence, but of desperation. Even now, with this massive demonetization wave and attempts to control content, they really aren't putting a dent in their opposition at this point, and they're honestly pissing off infinitely more people than the spergs they were hoping to microtarget with this shit in the first place, since they're hitting everything from Fitness channels to Let's Players, and if past similar experiments by the same idiots are anything to base off of (an easy thing to assume, given that we're dealing with the same intellects that brought us an honest-to-god Google employee trying to threaten Null via an official email account), then they're almost undoubtedly also catching their own side in the crossfire as well, and alienating those autistic fuckers, which should have predictable (and enjoyable) results for us.

If you had said advertising sales instead of sjws, you wouldn't have sounded like a lunatic.
Don't pretend like the SJW/Wall Street Journal x Adpocalypse connection doesn't exist. My original point still stands, no one cares until it becomes a problem, or someone virtue signals in a popular newspaper.

Yes that is how companies are run. That is what I have been saying. It's lame yes, but not evil. Next time listen to me instead of filling your head with sjw conspiracies.

But the SJWs ARE the five year olds. Are you blind, man? They are controlling the narrative! All the alt-right videos are methodically being replaced by peeing cartoon characters and you are doing nothing.

I was reminded that InRangeTV (sister channel of Forgotten Weapons) intentionally demonetized their channel (and pivoted to Patreon) during the adpocalypse as sort of a statement, but also to prepare for this moment.

If you had said advertising sales instead of sjws, you wouldn't have sounded like a lunatic.

YouTube's advertisers wouldn't give a shit about "trigger" bullshit if they weren't being pressured by SJWs, just like Christian fundamentalists pioneered this practice on television, targeting shows like the Smothers Brothers for "immorality" and complaining to their advertisers to get the show off the air. Despite good ratings, they couldn't keep advertisers with a coordinated campaign against them.

Corporations assume people complaining means more people give a shit about something than they do, even when it's coordinated bullshit from a handful of noisy nuts.

Hello friends! Today, I bring you great news from the land of YouTube. And by that I mean full fucking retardation. I mean, so fucking brain damaged you are wiping up shit and drool and piss from this thing. The only words it can say now are "HURRRRR" and *autistic screeching*.

Yes, YouTube has demonitized Destiny 2, a game rated 'Teen' (which is for, you guessed it, 13-17 year olds) is apparently 'too violent' for YouTube. It seems that the rumors about YouTube hiring Anita McDumbcunt might have actually been true. Her stance on videogame violence is pretty much she hates all of it. Doing this is a move of pure ideology, not protection. They could have age-restricted it if they wanted, but they didn't. They made a statement by demonizing it.

Because who in their right fucking mind would demonetize one of the largest, most anticipated games of the year that is probably going to have ads playing on TV and the movies? That's right! Destiny 2! Which can be played on PG-13 movies and daytime and prime time television.

I take it back. There's no business plan here. There is no capturing television audiences. There is no desire to further groom content creators for a competing platform. YouTube has NO fucking idea what it is doing. But I know exactly what happened. The CEO is a stupid ideological cunt who saw YouTube make Donald Trump win, so instead of making it a platform for 'gamers' and 'nazis'. She is culling EVERYTHING that doesn't fall within her ideological window. It doesn't matter if it bleeds money, YouTube wants to rid it of anything that got Donald Trump elected. Or anything that it thinks it did. And limit it. I am absolutely sure of this. It isn't to limit 'harassment'. It is clearly pushing ideology now, 100%, full stop. It is what every major social network from Facebook to Twitter is doing. Censoring and forcing people off. Google is Progtard central.

There is no way you fuck with a major gaming studio whose game sold millions upon millions of copies and made the Halo franchise. You don't fuck with that because they and other gaming companies belong to your advertiser pool. Other gaming companies don't ignore this shit and will switch their marketing push out of the YouTube space and into Twitch. Which according to all estimates, is making money for Amazon hand over fist.

This is also another move to hit creators alternate revenue streams. Who is going to pay a YouTuber if their videos get demonitized? Of course, smart YouTubers have already ditched the YouTube adverts and found their own sponsorship and products to push. Also merchandise. Which means, until they are banned, they are effectively using YouTube's upload and video service for free. There might be attempts to marginalize them.

Google has become ideologically insane. It has lost its fucking mind. And the scary part is how much data it has and the haphazard way they enforce it. The company needs to be fucking gutted. Investors are happy now, but we all know how SJW stuff does in the long run. The only reason YouTube isn't dead yet is because it wasn't infested at first. But now its obviously driven by the ideology of a very, very vocal minority. I think, as a whole, the platform's days are numbered unless the ship turns itself around by firing this dumb bitch and everyone who works on the moderation/monetization team. Yes, it is the dominant right now. But there is nowhere near enough SJW content to support it. The views SJWs get that are monetized are paltry compared to other creators who get many times as much. Look at Francesca Ramsey. Her numbers are fucking pathetic. Anita Sarkessian's numbers, pathetic. People who have sponsorship's aren't even going to bother monetizing videos anymore.

The problem is how long will it take and how much money will it bleed? They are obviously accelerating the process. Straight up demonetizing Bungie, in another world, would be a fire-able offense. But in Google, its the norm. And that's the danger of companies like this. When they begin to enforce their morality and worldview, where do you go?

RIP Google. How long until it starts selling parts off to the highest bidder?

Talk about "cutting off your nose to spite your face"

So a game which was going to get massive amounts of views just because people want to see if it's just a re-skinned Destiny 1 alone and they made it worthless for content creators to upload any of it.

Damn son someone hates money and advertisers.

Even if they were attempting to target only kids, they had a kid-only service, but everyone knows when you are a kid you don't want to just watch Teletubbies, I've seen more gore, nudity and swearing in cartoons from the 80's than in videogames today. What I wonder, how long can they manipulate their metrics before people start asking questions?

Everyone can't all go to Patreon. People will have to go somewhere.

Lol calm down

Why? This comes after Google is kicking people off their entire platform. Jordan Peterson, a tenured Professor in Toronto who says things that Google doesn't like, lost access to his account, mail and everything. He's pretty contreversial in some circles, so maybe that's it...oh wait, they just banned another professor from their entire platform:

On Friday afternoon East Coast Time by surprise, I was completely shut down in all my Google accounts (all of my gmail accounts, blog, all of my university pages that were on google sites, etc.) for no reason and no warning. A number of us were stunned and unsure, but clearly we know at this point it wasn’t an accident. Here are some examples commented from best-selling author Nassim Taleb, and they have been retweeted by government officials, and the NYT and WSJ journalists.

My ads-free blog itself is a probability theory site, with 27 million reads and has somewhere near 150k overall followers. It’s been read by Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Nobel Laureates, multiple governments, celebrity athletes around the world, deans of many universities (on the syllabi of same), and a number of TV news anchors. So it’s been a great boon for Google to be noticed so kindly by essentially a charitable site promoting math education. What great people from all corners of the world and at all levels who can enjoy Google, until it suddenly died Friday afternoon.

My background is clean, and without a political or social agenda. I am not promoting any specific viewpoint. I teach probability math and that’s it. Have worked with both the Obama administration and advised on polling statistics for the Trump campaign, am an adjunct professor at three top universities, an editor of the peer-reviewed journal of the American Statistical Association, and wrote a best-selling statistics book (all the proceeds of which I gave to charity!) https://www.amazon.com/Statistics-Topics-Salil-Mehta/dp/1499273533

Why was this man banned? What could it possibly be....

...advised on polling statistics for the Trump campaign

I think we found our winner. So no, I'm not going to calm down when a company with cash that beats over hundreds of countries GDP-wise starts dictating morality and engages in petty vendettas because it suddenly lost its fucking mind.
