"On the Work for Hire front, we're close to wrapping up the Guild Wars 2 Documentary, which Javed has done an absolutely stellar job of editing. We're really proud of how that project has come together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise. That documentary will be airing later this fall on the official Guild Wars channel as we don't host our work for hire projects here on Second Wind.

We also wrapped up work on Surgent Studio's Dead Take which released to great reviews and player feedback. We did a full rebrand of that project, helped with all of their trailers and social media assets, rollout strategy, mock reviews and even helped with some of the visual feel and tone of the game."
Paid for documentaries and marketing for indie games.

So it's basically nepo jobs by their industry buddies. Those studios could have just hired freelancer editors for a fraction of the cost, or hired actual gaming historians for the documentaries. Rather than a group of people who have never made a documentary that people cared about.

And the big irony is that they would have been more successful doing those tasks than that gay channel.

I do hope they will be stupid enough to make a review of Dead Take.

Depending on how they count the income, the net quarterly profit may be closer to around 80k. I can't exactly understand why they would report on these earnings here if they intended to count them in the next quarter. Reporting on the company's liquid assets also seems kindof silly to me, but I guess they're doing that to secure funding by going "look! see! we're solvent!"


However, the vast majority of their income is being drawn from Patreon. A platform which has yet to go through a meaningful recession, in the wake of what is looking like a proper depression that will crunch the lines of credit that retarded audiences use to pay for this kind of shit. I can see a majority of that vanishing when retarded consumers can no longer service their minimums. That will be the actual test of their ability.

Frost said in his video that nick always overhyped his ability when it comes to these documentaries and apparently previous customers were disappointed with their performance.
 

I don't usually watch anything on Second Wind except yahtzee but I saw this because I thought it would be a sperg-out. Unfortunately its closer to schizobabble than sperging. Is the other content really this bad?

tldw: First 4 minutes is the standard "NOOOO you can't insert politics into games and memes when it's not what I support". Then 2 minutes whining about AI for going to replace most of the industry. Then surprised Pikachu face on greedy corporations caring more on profits than politics. Finally the usual "we are victims and fighting back in any way possible is justified".

Go woke go broke.

It's definitely schizobabble. DHS using images from Halo and Pokemon = government controlling which games are made, bitching about taxation without representation, and on and on as if the left wasn't doing shit with regard to videogames for the past 20 fucking years. Hell, they even bring up Microsoft supporting pride parades and shit, as if that wasn't ever just corporate pandering with the rest of the game industry choosing to never make their logos into rainbow flags for middle east social media accounts, leave pride shit out of middle eastern regions, and so on. Complains about companies letting things get used to promote hate and division, as if the left also hasn't been doing that nonstop for the past decade.

It's fucking tiresome really. And yes, their other content is normally this bad or worse. "Unpacked" is one of their more popular shows that isn't Yahtzee and it still usually does shit for views compare to their subscriber count.

For years they've been screeching "corporations don't actually care about you they just want your money" but never actually believed it because it was in vogue to put pride and identity politics in their games and are now surprised when corporations align with what is currently politically convenient

All the second wind vids besides Yahtzee are shit and that shows by the contrast between the views its sad how they use Yahtzee as a mouthpiece when they actually want people to see their shit but this is the bed he made for himself I guess

I do admire how consistent Yahtzee has been throughout the years just getting along with his game reviews and mostly staying out of drama, he had to do a public humiliation ritual over saying the word tranny and he was probably made to denounce the only other decent creator on sw, frost, when he left but besides that he's remained mostly the same. He's always been a shitlib I remember every one of his cod or bf reviews was just him sperging about how they were "self-fulfilment fantasies for right-wing gun nuts" and he had a mini TDS phase during his first term but its now mostly just him lamenting about how he thinks the world is going to shit I think settling down and having kids made him put his priorities in order

His hogwarts legacy review was painful to watch you can tell the editor made him feign anger at jk and that podcast he did with jim sterling I couldn't even finish because of how awkward it was

He did a mini documentary a while back for the escapist where he said how he was happy if making sweary game reviews was his lot in life and honestly I'm happy for him, he has a family and a stable career that he seems to like doing and if anything its nice to have one og youtuber who didn't go completely go off the rails

also a bit off topic but has anyone seen the state of the escapist now they just post gambling streamer highlights what a fall from grace

I've seen streamers play this game and it actually looks fun with good visuals. I wouldn't say it's some amazing high art but I don't really get his criticism. Then again, when you're required to play with friends and your options are AI or Jim Sterling I guess that would take the fun out of it.

Yahtzee always had a hatered for both multiplayer games and games where he needs to play co-op with other people.

From what I heard the non multiplayer mode really ruins the enjoyment by auto solving puzzles, and in general having a co op sequel to a single player experience (especially one that was more on the horror side) is pretty bullshit.

Eh, it's basically Dead Space 3 for kids streamers.

Most people won't play with the AI as they have friends as opposed to being Internet influencers with no one to turn to.

It must be annoying for him to review games he's stated on multiple occasions that he has no interest in for SEO

I have an extension for youtube that removes all the filler and ads but whoever does it classifies the jokes as filler, I'm watching a comedy review I want to hear the fucking jokes
