I think by default if you have a YouTube channel, especially one involving your IRL identity then you have tons of ego. Every Internet Famous person is one drama away from becoming a full on lolcow
 
That title tells me it's just full of seething that people disagree with his hot takes. I'm not wasting my time watching it.

You're a monotone Stephen A. Smith for fat edgy (p)redditors, Yahtzee. You're a pathetic tryhard version of every metrosexual cultural critic who can dish it out by using vaguely naughty words but can't take it. If people telling you how shit your opinions are makes you seethe that much that you have to make a video defending your terrible taste's honor, that means your opinions are wrong and shit.

TL;DW on that video by the way.... Yahtzee makes pretty much the average midwit arguments: "Here's a list of games I like to prove I don't hate all video games!" and "you're just butthurt that I criticized a game you like."

The only salient point is questioning people who bring up the "he's not a real critic" argument.... by admitting that anyone who gets online and rants about games is by definition "a critic."

Only point in his favor, he opens up acknowledging that by making this video he's gonna get "Yahtzee can't take criticism" takes.

I mean, let's be honest. This is a guy who got buttmad when his own games were critiqued and he pulled the "2deep4u!" shit, should we be surprised when he seethes whenever someone calls his opinions on games crap?

Wait, he did that?

I remember his 5 Days a Stranger/Chzo Mythos games, he initially was defensive (I think the "registered versions" contained extra text that snipped at critics) but then when someone did a Lets Play mocking all the bad writing, by that point he had chilled and admitted that yeah they kinda sucked.

I think he did it during when he was posting on the SomethingAwful forums or something, that;s when his games got critiqued and he pulled the "2Deep4U" shit and got super salty.

I was active on SA for that, and the other dude has it right; beyond some initial defensiveness he agreed with the criticism overall, and he shared a lot of ways he would rewritten things had he made them today. He never claimed it was too deep for the audience, only that his intended meaning was one steeped in his personal viewpoints - one of the criticisms he conceded.

its shocking how when you strip away the fast voice his autism or whatever cant comprehend what these arguments mean. when someone says "you hate video games" he thinks they literally mean that he hates all video games or at least a good chunk enough to prove a hatred of it. he doesnt get what they mean by the argument, the argument is that he has a cynical attitude that ruins enjoyment of games for himself. the one about not being a real critic he doesnt get that it's a condemnation of his style, that it's sort of pop criticism and instead focuses on thinking people are literally saying he cant be critiquing things. like how can someone who thinks of himself as so intelligent not get when people are making an argument thats going over his head?

I mean if you really listen to his game reviews, it at times comes off like he doesn't understand most video games either.

My earliest memory of picking up on this was his Metal Gear Solid 4 video, where he claimed Snake's rapid aging was due to "a forced obsolescence scheme worthy of Microsoft." I've never even played MGS4 and even I know that Snake's aging was not intentional on the part of whoever baked him out of Big Boss's cells.

Early on in fact there were a lot of cases where he would criticize something, only for people to point out that he had just not checked the options, or hadn't played long enough to pass the tutorial (real game journo moment there). One instance I remember clearly was he reviewed Ghostbusters the Video Game, but then in a follow-up article retracted his review and said actually the game was great and that his main criticism (leaning heavily on retreading scenes from the movies) only happens early on.

So, I just watched his Tears of the Kingdom video....

One part I rolled my eyes at is Yahtzee talked about Breath of the Wild, but talked about it as everyone was stupid for saying it was a great game.... except thing is in his own video he also was giving BOTW a major suck-off, but now he's pretending he always stayed based.

I used to look forward to ZP with big releases like this, but since he's become an unfunny tranny-lover, I don't remember anymore. His BotW/Switch console review was pretty bland too, as far as I can remember. I can quote a lot of the jokes he's made in his bland videos, but I can't remember anything about that one aside from him not liking the Switch handheld gimmick and the charging port being on the underside of it.

The Escapist crew has really taken away his edge and made him boring. Nick has taken his balls and put them in the ad-revenue bag. Watching their streams is like taking a double-dose of Ambien, until Marty says something cringeworthy or points out that nobody laughed at his retarded joke. It's a real shame ZP fell off because it was their only good content. If we're lucky, Yahtzee will go the way of Sterling and we can laugh at him again.

Mogworld had its moments as did Differently Morphus. I couldn’t get on with the other stuff and found them quite boring.
He’s a decent enough narrator for his audiobooks.
