I do recall him saying in the distant past that he always liked Earthbound, but this does bring to mind something else that bugs me.
Put simply.... even in his glory days, Yahtzee's tastes always feel normie tier. I mean when he finally does a video about what anime he actually doesn't hate.... he says Miyazaki movies, Cowboy Bebop, and the only curveball in his video is a Count of Monte Cristo anime. Other than that last one, it couldn't be anymore "just picking stuff I know you've heard of so you'll leave me alone" in tone.
Same deal with that time he admitted what JRPGs he doesn't hate--while I think he's genuine about Earthbound since that was back before he was famous, the others he named were Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger (and I recall both having caveats for him). Which, no disrespect to any of those games, but they're all pretty much go-tos.
To rub salt in the wound, I wanna compare this to another cow--Linkara mentioned early on in his career he didn't want to review manga (though he didn't say he hated it, just that at the time he didn't think it would work for his format). And what does he mention as personal favorites? Steam Detectives and Pet Shop of Horrors--both fairly obscure. The same video where Linkara brings this up ("Top 15 Comics I'll Never Review") also has a few cases where he genuinely disagrees with the consensus (Maximum Carnage in particular).
So, Linkara, a guy who is known to change his values to meld with the crowd, is actually more nuanced, well-read, and more "non-conformist" in his tastes than fucking Yahtzee, a guy who made his whole career out of being "the guy who hates what you like."
