If I'm taking his word about this Chinese RPG slop, I'm just as confused as he is
What's not to get? Where Winds Meet is the new flavor of the month is all. People these days love hopping onto these AAA Asian skinner boxes. I mean earlier back in June everyone became addicted to betting on anime horse girls, It happens.

The real confusion is that why does Nick keep bothering Yahtz with these "trendy" games to review? I know Yahtzee is a tired old curmudgeon, but I don't need it told thru games he would never usually play anyways. His grumpy old man jokes become repetitive.

Because they're trying to chase views to fix their sinking clusterfuck of a channel, that's why. Surprisingly he got a video about the latest trendy thing out within a couple of weeks instead of his usual 3-4, not that it'll help much in the long run.

His whole shtick played out around 2018.

Never heard of the game before. First time ever that Ive really not wanted to check out a new release its just who cares go shill your (apparently) FOMO chinkslop somewhere else, either sperg out at the new car wreck that is the new CoD/BF campaigns or play something that isnt a bugman casino

One of the more tolerable soapbox episodes because he was mostly relaying what his AAA dev friend said:
While the AAA games industry is a shithole, I can still sense some 'high-brow' smugness from him about his creative freedomz. Have some self-awareness, Yahtz. If you were relevant enough to have brands hawkishly watching over your projects for any possible lolsuit, you'd hire a legal team too. Not all of it's red tape

It's cute that he's still seething about Ghosts 12 years later. Funny how he is surprised by Alex Mason living in a cabin when you see this in BO2(the game this is supposed to be a remake of) about half an hour in, after the first mission or so. Then again, that would require him to actually play the game, as you recall his entire BO2 review was just him crying about the poor, oppressed brown people and how racist whites are. He didn't even mention Menendez appearing in this game, when he was also the big bad of BO2, so it's telling how little he actually remembers about either game.
Anyways, BO7 is just poor man's Advanced Warfare with some Black Ops 2 memberberries with a "single player" campaign you cannot play offline. About what I expected, also the game didn't sell and it's flopping about as badly as Ghosts was, lmfao.

Nick is an incompetent idiot, that's why. Just because The Escapist was a shitty gaming site(now a glorified gambling highlights channel) doesn't mean Nick was innocent either, both can be true. I am guessing he will make Yahtzee pull increasingly more clickbaity games and add worse and worse sponsorships into his videos as the ship continues to sink. There is no way they stopped the bleeding since last time I checked.

There's a lot to unpack here:
1. First of all, no shit that AAA has a lot of hoops to jump to so you can add your retarded idea. It's the same thing with every big studio productions in every media landscape. Imagine someone doing it about Hollywood thinking he just discovered something that no one knows.
2. Look at White Wolf getting nuked over a writer adding his gay lore on Chechnya killing faggots because of vampires to see what happens when big studios allow too much freedom.
3. Not everyone can do Indie due to high competition, high costs and technological barriers. Specially they can't be like Yahtzee and sell shit looking technologically inept games for their crowds of dick suckers.
4. AA exist despite Yahtzee and his ilk consistently fucking them over for not being part of their grift.
5. The pencil pushers involved in having every single thing needed multiple signatures have a specific gender... (wanted to link the Crowbcat video with showing how many female middle manager are in some AAA developer, but the coward both delisted and censored those videos).

lol, do you remember the name of that video?

The usual shit list. 5 is pure reddit "MUH JAPAN" slop made by Brits. 4 is getting brownie point kissing up Niggerfication of a known IP. 3 is the only game I've heard of, and from what I read starts really good and becomes shit once you get far enough. 2 might as well be the argument they did for Silksong. And 1 was pretty much made for game critics, including having the main character be a faggot.

Hold on, Split Fiction comes out with a more tolerable plot and much better gameplay than It Takes Two, but gets put on the opposite list as that one?
This man sometimes

While he can suck a fat knob, at the same time looking at all these games I have to feel sorry for him and others whose content and jobs rely on new game releases. Sign me up for the packing plant at that point, that's gotta be a more enjoyable way to make money

The maxim goes like "find a job you love and you'll never work for the rest of your life," but seeing all the burnout and bullshit happening with streamers, musicians, and other 'creatives' (liberal usage of the term, I know) makes me never wanna mix business with pleasure ever. No matter how much you love something, it can become a chore if you're forced to do it over and over again to keep the lights on.

He's right about every line of dialogue in Split Fiction being abhorrent, at least.

I think that's why the best content creators tend to be the ones who do it as a side hustle. You know, to supplement a proper 9-5 job. They tend to be the most down-to-Earth, as well. Probably because they're forced to interact with real people

2025 catchup video:
Video overview;
Opens with a joke about how 2025 should go in the incinerator of history, probably a dig at Trump in the White House this year.
Games covered:
  • Powerwash simulator 2
    • really liked it, likes it as his zone out game when he's tired of appreciating good game design (Baldur's Gate 3 used as reference)
  • Revenge of the Savage Planet
    • Boring, played it in May and forgot most of it
  • Keeper
    • Boring, says its a boring walking simulator. Also makes a joke that diversity can go "too far" if it includes inanimate objects (game is about a walking living lighthouse)
  • Date Everything
    • Liked it at first, but got bored after a while when it seemed like it had nowhere to go (this is a dating sim about romancing every object in an apartment)
  • Once Upon a Katamari
    • Says its repeating the first two games, nowhere for this series go and just repeats escalation from the first two games like rolling up the world and the universe.
  • Routine
    • Great atmosphere but didn't like when the story went. Was surprised it took 13 years to make for a short horror game.
