Zoophobia - VivziePop's On and Off Again Lovechild who she abandoned in favor of an equally disappointing work with no qualities.

Did Zoophobia Had Potential?

Yeah cuz it's on perma hiatus (cancelled)

They used that term for Archie Megs Man but we all know it's cancelled.
shame cuz at least the megaman comic was actually good

im reading through zoophobia right now and theres literally nothing of note.
the formula from what im seeing is: things just happen, viv's old self insert gets scared of X thing, sex joke, lather rinse repeat.

1736095305864.png1736094786357.png1736094959360.png (sans second panel in last ex) if her art was more in line with panels like these, it wouldn't be groundbreaking but the visuals would have more appeal IMO. instead it's just 2015 tumblr colorshit given life... that said, the writing is still nonexistent

I'll take it over furfaggotry, frankly.
hings just happen, viv's old self insert gets scared of X thing, sex joke, lather rinse repeat.
Without the dumb sex jokes and self subversion it could have demonstrated why this furry stuff isn't what you actually want, that humans can adapt to many circumstances, and why that's not always a good thing. Anti-furfaggotry, really.

Really show what tolerance and normalization mean. Self inserts are dumb, but a humanity insert is what you need for that kind of story. You don't want to make it too obscure.

Didn't actually follow the premise though. Any potential it has would have required Vivzie to be someone other than Vivzie.

Still pissed over the fact because I got into Mega Man AFTER the Comics ended and found out about it in 2017 or so (Can't remember.) I have the Redemption (7 iirc) Comic but most comics from that era (if it wasn't coupled with the likes of Sonic and Mega Man.) aren't in print or just plain old Library Books that are flimsy at best. You're technically forced to pirate it or go on sites to get the real in print copy.

This is clearly the worst art style in the world.

I hate it too, I know some people said it looks appealings, and it can be sometimes but I can't get over the fact this style gives edgy 2008 emo kid, which is actually what Viv is, her style barely changed over the years and she spent so much time in the furry fandom she can't draw human beings anymore, this is why all her humanoid characters like the humans in Helluva Boss looks off, or why in Hazbin Hotel they all have twink bodies like St Peter being a fucking blonde twink or why they have same-face-toothy-grinning smiles or that Vaggie has literally no ear.

Viv animate well, but she can't write or draw for shit.

Women like this would have been burned at the stake just a few hundred years ago, remember that.

Viv animate well, but she can't write or draw for shit.
Can she animate well today? At some point she must have been able to but she might be out of practice. I think she animated Weird Al for a short clip and it was rough. There's literally (somehow) hundreds of people that either worked or are working on her shows. Not a good sign.
It's like choosing vomit over shit. Alegria doesn't hurt my eyes simply by looking at it, but is more malicious.
Alegria doesn't hurt your eyes? I find it awful, even if it's not malicious, like the re-interpretations of classical paintings.

Well, let's necro this thread back from the ashes!

At the recent LVL UP Expo in Las Vegas, Vivienne confirmed that she would be bringing back Zoophobia as a miniseries.

Vivienne has since confirmed that Cameron, the neglected "main character" from the original comic, will appear in the miniseries. It will suck, let's not throw out rainbows.

Apparently, Viv can’t do anything new. This really is just her Hazbin precursor with more primary, secondary, (& a few) tertiary colors thrown in. Sparkledog “LGBT”on paper but absolutely gay male centered, relationship drama, swear word musical comedy crap. Don’t forget the safe edgy or the “correct” progressive politics that will be bursting from the “queer” ideology seams. Now with more teenage characters, if I gather correctly the setting is a high school. She’s made her pigeonhole into a pigeonhome, a harbinger of death to the artistic self. The poll also needs a “Hell No” option.

I did a review of this shit so in light of recent events I will be reading the parts.

Speaking of which, my most up-to-date critiques of the comic, transplanted from the Hazbin and Viv threads:
Charlie at least attempts to do some things, even if she is a complete and utter retard. Cameron, on the other hand, does NOTHING. Well, actually, that’s not totally fair. She does do some things. My issue here is that those things might affect her personally, but have almost zero impact on anyone else. She’s supposed to be the main character (she gives the comic its title, for God's sake!), but she’s almost completely irrelevant. The only time she affects anything at all is in chapter 4, her counselling session with Jack, and it wouldn’t be hard to edit her out. Off the top of my head, he could be explaining his story to someone new he’s met and they could give him the same advice she did. Do that and she could be removed from the story without so much as a whimper. Nothing would happen differently.

Basically, she spends all her time just being around and acting scared. Her purpose as a character just seems to be witnessing everything that’s happening and reacting to it. It seems a lot like she’s only part of the story so that it can have the whole “human ends up in a magical world by accident” plot, which is not a prerequisite for stories that involve magic, by the way. Maybe she’s supposed to exist as a stand-in that represents the audience? But then shouldn’t she be actively trying to learn more about this world instead of (for the most part) letting information come to her? That’s what the audience wants to do, they want to hear the story, so if she represents them, she needs to have motivation to seek that story out for herself. Also. if she wants to go home, shouldn’t she be trying to figure out how to leave? It feels like she accepted being trapped way too quickly. Does she actually want to stay there, even though she’s afraid of everyone? Even if she did have a way out (which is what happens in chapter 3 btw - the barrier that's supposedly keeping her trapped is broken due to vampires attacking the city)?

Actually, that’s another big issue: we don’t know this person. We don’t know about her family, history, what she cares about, her dreams for her life, anything. Even basic ass things like, what are her favorite foods? When she walks by a mirror, does she check herself out, or does she shudder away? If you were to run into her at a shopping mall, what purchases would she be carrying? Which stores would she want to visit/avoid?

KayCee (the person who sends her to Magical Furry World and seems to have ulterior motives) mentioned she had a degree in counseling as if she’d just noticed that. Does Cameron have a degree in another subject? Is counseling actually her secondary career? Is she just so desperate for a job that she’d accept one in a field she isn’t as interested in as her other career? And why is she so desperate for work? Is she struggling to make ends meet, or does she have debts? Actually, that would make her apparently having a guaranteed place to stay in Safe Haven really interesting to look at with her character, because it would mean one less expense for her to worry about. These are the real questions.

But who gives a shit about all of that, let's have some gay relationship drama because THE FEEELZ! *sigh*
aside from the mistreatment/sidelining of Cameron, that's the other thing that that pissed me off the most about ZP.

You have an entire WORLD of mythical creatures just begging to be explored.
View attachment 8922986
Mermaids (which is especially galling because Cameron loves fish),
View attachment 8923001
yokai,
View attachment 8923050
fish people,

bird people.

Where do they live? How do they live? How do these distinct beings interact with each other? So many possibilities - and yet, what does Viv choose to focus on? Sparkledog Hell. Fuck me sideways.

Let's ignore the fact that the character originally started out as a gay dude because you know why.
Mackenzie.webp
If a more competent writer were at the helm of Zoophobia, MacKenzie would've been the deuteragonist, easily. Because think about it: both her and Cameron have something in common - they both feel out of place in this strange fantastical world and both are outcasts for differing reasons (Cameron because she's zoophobic, MacKenzie because she's socially awkward). Plus humans are apparently looked down on in Safe Haven, so that's another point for their solidarity right there. Hell, maybe MacKenzie could be the one to show Cameron the world of Safe Haven and how it works, since she's been there longer than Cameron has. They even both look kind of similar:
tumblr_njs8a5QGbO1qi3p46o1_1280.jpg
maybe a plot point could be that Kenzie is actually a long-lost relative of Cameron's?

In fact, that's another interesting thing about Kenzie that hasn't been explored - she's apparently an orphan, right? Humans are also pretty rare, at least from my understanding - how did this kid's parents die? How did they get to Safe Haven in the first place? How old was she when they died (she's 17, and she's been with Margo, her adoptive cat mom, for at least a while, so she must've been pretty young)? Or was she simply abandoned as an infant/toddler?

And that's if we're going with the assumption that she's a 100% organic human. Why do I say organic? Well, this is where it gets into more speculative territory. What if the reason she's inexplicably proficient at so many things is because - she's a Xirxine experiment?

Quick sidebar for anyone wondering what the fuck that last sentence is on about: Xirxine was basically going to be, if not the big bad, at least an instrument of the big bad. An evil scientific laboratory gone mad. That's where Addison (the blonde green fox kid who's attracted to snakes) came from (although now I know that it was a thinly veiled excuse for Viv to draw torture porn of him because that got her off).

Anywho, again, let's assume that a normal human being is writing this story. MacKenzie could be one that's like 95% human, 5% cat (hence her affinity for cats)? Again, think about this - it could explain why the world hates MacKenzie so much - they look down on humans in general, but they can tell somehow that something's....off with her. That's why Addison dislikes her so much - he apparently has a lot of physical problems due to his being experimented on - maybe they refined their technique with her, and she's able to function perfectly fine unlike him? Thus, his freakout in the art room.
Book_1_Chapter_5_Page_17.webp
It wasn't so much touching him that set him off - it was this more physically attuned sibling of sorts trying to empathize with him after messing up his painting. "How DARE she when she keeps messing up my life like this?!" (She isn't but he thinks she is - a character flaw). And as an extra spicy meatball - what if HE knows she's an experiment, but SHE doesn't? That's a whole 'nother heap of dramatic irony right there! And when she does find out (preferably after a mutual character arc that sees both her and Cameron growing together)? Think of the dramatic possibilities and thought-provoking questions!
