Do you hate anime? - What’s your reasons for disliking it? Can you elaborate?

As much as I enjoy my transforming space planes or all things SHAFT and Monogatari, most anime is pretty uninteresting. On the other hand, I only really hate the culture that grows up around it. It's one thing to have fun with it and do a bit of playing around with memes and such, but weebs and Otaku take it all way too seriously. Like waifus or shipping wars. It's a medium that could be used for interesting things that would difficult to otherwise do visually, but half the time is just another dumb high school thing.

Anime is great if you know the good shit which ends up being from the 80s-90s and early 2000s to mid 2012. At least in my opinion. Now its just muddled autistic garbage ruined by faggots troons so i just stick to watching old stuff when i have the free time.

Its cool to hate it and think its autistic but the random spike in hate for it on the farms is more autistic because it only happened once Null said he hated it and its so obvious lol

I'm not a fan of modern japanese media outside of a few manga and prefer the heavy scifi or fantasy material from the 80s, 90s and 2000s like Gundam, LotGH, Slayers, Bastard, Lodoss and Berserk as some examples.

So its not exactly that I hate the medium. Its more that I hate like 70% of weebs and otakus and their obsessions with their favorite shows and brands to the point where any light criticism aimed at their media of preference is seen as some sort of unforgivable crime. Their obsessions with waifus and "power level feats" is also cringe, like arguing over which child-like "trap" they want to fuck (or want to reincarnate as....) or who can beat who in a fight. But I guess this is something that fans of western media suffer from too since both are too obsessed with the brands they idolize and devolve into weird fetishism.

Not much else I can say that others here haven't already said.

Most animu nowadays sucks, especially the long-titled quasi-harem fantasy shows with the mopey protags. The overuse of exposition particularly in anime storytelling continues to get more audience insulting (as Japan deals with its own age of idiocracy). It's definitely proliferated as an artform too much over here, but I blame that on most people fleeing our progressively marxist western media, whether they realize it or not. Imagine a medieval dark fantasy story with Germanic cultural inspiration, if made by modern western nations you'd get a story about a handicapped transsexual nigger. But when made by the Japanese, you get historical parallels, cultural respect, and great art.

The long titled quasi harem stories that makes no sense is being done to death more than usual thanks to all this isekai junk which is an insult to fantasy storytelling and proper world building. You'd think these japanese authors would be taking inspiration from stuff like Berserk, Lodoss or even Tolkien what with having them all readily available for inspiration and the first one still being a big thing in Japan, but instead they just keep making garbage like'The "My ass got hit by a truck of peace and now I'm reincarnated into a magical world where I have all the cheat codes and every girl around here wants to suck my dick despite putting zero effort in forming meaningful bonds with them while my romances ultimately amount to nothing and I succeed at everything without trying" Saga (also my penis can talk!?)'

A big shame drifters hasn't gotten a new season since its way better than Fates and its op is more hellsing than hellsing.
And its really Tolkien esque

I only hate the modern kawaii desu pedophile harem trash that uses CGI for anything more complex than an underage looking pinkhaired girl showing her cleavage. Stuff like Jin Roh is really good though and shouldn't be sdisregarded because of the garbage degenerate shitpile that most of anime is.

Tbf a lot of it is just people jerking off to the aesthetic, its easy to see if you read the actual content and see how much info people just pull out of their ass.

Perhaps some headpats will cheer you up?

Love anime, but I definitely watch it more for the medium as an animation fan and to see its progression over the years than for the escapism angle like I used to. I have a huge backlog I'm still going through, and it's really impressive stuff, like Japanese animation is so diverse even in eras simply because of the different studios that exist. Not all of the studios are run by otaku, for instance, but a lot of the OVA boom in the '80s and early '90s were definitely meant to be for the more hardcore animation fans.

Weebs get iffy about 3D animation in anime, but I'm fascinated by it, and I'm rooting for it to get better and better. I still hope 2D animation will still continue to thrive in Japan, but I do want to be able to see CGI better itself outside of movies in Japan. Godzilla Singular Point is a recent example of that looking fantastic, and that was still a weekly series. It's possible to seamlessly incorporate CGI into anime, it just relies on the talent and the style to work well. Hell, I wish we had more anime like Ars Nova that is completely CGI but still gorgeous to watch without taking you out of it.
This was back in 2013. Imagine what can be done now with this level of care put into it.

The early 90s with Jinroh, Macross Plus, GitS, the second Patlabor movie. I mean, whatever weaknesses they had, animation was not one of them.

I think of things like the last few Macross series or the Space Battleship Yamato remakes when it comes to using 3D well. It's weird how some studios figure out how to us it well and others just completely whiff on it.

As a weeb, I do not approve of this. While I do admit it's not the worst CGI, you can still tell it looks "off".
Doesn't matter if some people think it looks good, if there are more purists. And as we know, viewers translate into money and money talks.

I do like anime, but I'm watching less and less now. As it gets worse by a yearly basis.

Dorohedoro utilizes the cgi model really shit well. I kind of hate how more and more animation has been switching from frame by frame to motion tweened cgi models for certain shots, it's got the same uncanny effect as transformers energon if they don't put effort into it. Genuinely smooth Frame by frame animation seems to be a dying medium as a whole and I hate it.

As for my opinions on aniume? I will KILL ANIME.
Real talk though I've always enjoyed it ever since I was a kid alongside other cartoons. Animation as a whole really is something cool and I've always wanted to get fucking good at doing it myself but lack the money or connections to learn specific tricks. SPEED RACER Vhs tapes and reruns were my SHIT back in the day. Mangas tend to be quicker to get through due to it being reading rather than watching a screen. and just as detailed if not more sometimes.
never was up for the weird mainstream horny weeby fan shit of current year though fuck that noise.

I used to really love it when I was a kid, but I think it was mostly because it was still far from being mainstream and thus very rare. We had the odd anime imports back in the 80s and 90s, those became big hits and are still very culturally relevant around here. Not as much people give as much of a shit about stuff like Saint Seiya or Shurato like we do. All of this was before my time tho.

When I got around to it, very few channels would have them on their programming and I could never properly watch it because of school hours. Things changed when we got cable tho and godamn I had a blast. Cartoon Network had an anime block that would play very late at night and we even had an anime focused channel. They had some trash in there, but they also had some pretty decent stuff (or at least what I found to be decent at the time), like Trigun, Gungrave, Fullmetal 2003, Excel Saga, Evangelion, S-Cry-Ed, Crayon Shin-Chan, and a few others that escape my mind.

Nowadays, with the internet and the high seas being able to provide pretty much anything I want, I'm not as much in love with it as I used to be anymore. I have seen pretty much every top 10 list anime out there, there are very few left that actually interest me and that I just dont have the time to watch (Ill get around to Legend of the Galactic Heroes someday). Most anime seem like complete forgettable garbage anyway, so I dont feel like im missing much.

I still try and watch maybe 1-2 that come out every year, mainly for conversation fodder. That Demon Slayer one was alright. Also Masaaki Yuasa is pretty kino, Eizouken was the shit.

I prefer manga, but anime is alright too. I like the variety of manga way more than anime in the end.

You will never have a protagonist a professor in his 60's who is a bald fat man walking with a cane doing expositions about myths and folklore for more than 15 volumes. And he is one of my favorite characters of all time.

The sheer volume of content produced in the medium is so large, it's not accurate to claim all of it's shit or that it's contributed to degenerate behavior. Like American media, the good stuff was made in the previous century, and the rest is of varying quality.

Also, if you don't like Akira, you're a faggot. And I don't fucking buy that bullshit that it's boring, boring my arse, there isn't a scene in the film that doesn't have stuff happening. Even simple things like guys just walking in a wide shot is interesting to look at in that film. Fuck off.
